I still watch breeding videos despite being very knowledgeable about it. While I didn’t learn anything, I also don’t have anything to add this is literally everything one could need or want to know in a short easy to understand guide. Great Video Chaotic. It will be the new video I recommend to those looking for info.
Can you help me out i dont know when a tame is good to breed it in to 1 dino. Like when do you know you have the best possible health, stamina, melee etc points distribution
It depends on what you want to do with them and what tames your talking about. Rexs for bosses you'll want give or take 10k hp as a base line. 350% ish damage. And then mutate those with 20 mutations into health and another line with 20 mutations into melee. 80ish armor saddles and they can take on most bosses easily on any difficulty.
@@Chaotic_Gaming What about max level cap? aren't you supposed to not combine multiple stats in servers whit max level cap enabled if you want to cap a particular stat like health or melee? also what about breeding whit low level females to get rid off undesired stats and lower the dino level in order to not hit the level cap?
Me watching this video 3 times before breeding my Desmo's since I'm going all out in the mutations for boss fights. Ive never bred to the extent I am and was confused by the 20+ mutations, but this was a breeze to watch and learn! Love the video, thank you!
know what? even though I didn't register everything, this tutorial is way better than any other I have watched. It will probably fully register once I apply this after wiping my horrible unknowledgeable attempts. (I was leveling and imprinting and just wow that makes sense why I wasn't going anywhere with it lol)
I've never really gotten into breeding my dinos, and my friend and i on a boosted server just kept anything that had either a melee or hp mutation and continued breeding with those, etc. this is a really easy to follow guide, and i think my dinos will be much more efficient from now on, cus i finally understand how to do this properly :)
I just started a new rex line using a male and 3 females all identical levels and stats and just got my first mutation Health. your guide helped so much. Thank you
⚠️⚠️⚠️Make sure you have the chosen dinosaur to stop following you or it won't be able to lay a egg make this top comment so more people are aware ⚠️⚠️⚠️
Little tip before you get to the egg incubator stage place down 6 fire places. 6 is enough heat to hatch the hottest eggs an 1 is cool enough to hatch cooler eggs you just gotta turn the fireplaces on and off to range to heat
Great video I love to breed dinos and thought I had learned it all but I picked up a few new things so thank you also probably one of the most straight forward breeding videos I have watched
I had to rewatch a few times certain parts, but I made a written guide and I get it. Thanks a lot! Even after a few thousand hours of play, I didn't know all this.
Great tutorial. I’ve been working on one myself but you absolutely nailed it. You covered everything. I’ll share this with anyone interested in breeding. I do breed out my useless stats out of habit. My base stat rexes are 120 and my Carchs are 140. I have a player that keeps trying to give me his lvl 259 carch eggs wit 3 mutations. I keep telling him my base stats are higher than his and his mutations are all oxy or food. LOL
I miss one little thing, and that's mods. I've heard Awesome Spyglass can help find Dino's with good base stats by being able to see the point distribution before taming it (similar to what the incubator shows iirc) But mentioning some mods without going into detail would be really helpful for those who have the power to install them or for those who have them on the server. I run a small server with 2 friends and anyone can suggest a mod. Then we'll discuss it, play devil's advocate to bring up any balance concerns, and then decide if we want to install it. Breeding is very tedious and we don't have infinite time, so having some mods to assist us in the taming process would be very helpful. And a video like this is imo a good place to introduce some mods. The introduction can be the same as how you talk about that thing on the genesis map. I don't know what that item is, how to get it or how to use it, but I know that that feature exists and I know what to look for. So, if anyone has any suggestions for mods then I'd really appreciate it :D
Awesome spy glass is incredibly over powered in its base form in my opinion. I use other mods for breeding on my cluster. I invite you to my discord and you can check them out, ask questions if you want.
1:12 "Fast Flying" Servers with this turned on you can add to the speed. Like the PC & xBox server WildWest. It also has awesome custom drops make it the fastest Ark server around. Give it a go. If you see me around "Bit the Destroyer" say Hi. I'll give ya a Kool Dino 🦕🦄🦖🐎
Just a heads up, mating is incorrectly in the chapters. But besides that, this was by far the best breeding guide I have seen so far. So thank you so much for the time put into making this video.
So for example, Can I tame a level 5 dino and increase it's melee by manually leveling it up. And take another level 5 dino and increase it's health by manually putting stats into it. And then breed both of them to get both health and melee dino? Are the stats that we put manually into a dino counted to put it into baby? I have this question because he said that the imprinted stats are not included in the baby, only the base stats are counted. So are the stats that we put in a dino manually counted into the baby? *Anyone Answer!*
@@Chaotic_Gaming So only the base the stats which we get after taming a dino are included in baby and not the stats which we manually put into the dino right
The ONLY thing in this video I didnt know about is the mutagel, as I stopped playing ark after GEN1. However, The way you explain the breeding process is PERFECT for new breeders. Excellent vid
Oh man! I've messed up so many Rex's ugh! Now I have to figure a way to kill them all lol I'm on a PVE server that has no damage to pets and no mods. I have beautiful colors (like pink and blue) and lots of mutations but that's because I bred mutations with mutations. I have a few that are showing Stat increases but couldn't figure out how to get the stats I want .... thanks for this! Back to the proverbial drawing board. 🤦🏾♀️
You tame a bunch of wild dinos. Keep the ones with the best stats you want. Breed them together until you get all the stats you want on the same dino, without mutations. Then you take two of those dinos with exactly the same stats, and no mutations, and breed them together. Once you get a mutation on a stat you like, you breed it back to one of it's parents that has no mutations. The key, as Chaotic said, when breeding to get more mutations is to always breed the mutated dino back to a parent that has no mutations.
So, use one high level pair to make a bunch of potentials. Of those potentials, take the ones that have stats that you want that are higher than the others. Then breed that high stat one with the opposite gender of the original to replicate that one but as a mating pair to then use to start breeding for mutations. I’m this far in the process of understanding and will need to review the mutations to know how to stack those. Assuming the same way
I remember back when ARK released and I didn’t know anything about how breeding worked. I would just breed my Dino’s so I can get a baby that I could imprint. Had no clue that you could add the best stats to 1 dino. The day I figured out how to properly breed and mutate absolutely changed my ARK experience to another level. I remember my stat capped Rex’s on a official server. That took me probably a year if not longer to do. My Rex’s got me invited to do bosses on the daily. I can’t see myself ever doing that grind again but I still find enjoyment doing breeding on my own server with increased breeding rates. I can’t wait for ARK Ascended to release though!
Ok, so while breeding carchars, I've run Into an issue. Mutations 1-20 was quite the process, as a result of the higher odds on the lower stat. 21-34 were way easier, I was able to get like 7 of those in one day, but after that it slowed. When trying to get to 35 mutations it took about 8 hours to get that ONE and the mutations on the lower stat became way more common again, the only noticable difference was the fact I had gotten to 101 levels in melee and that I had gotten the previous mutation on a female, but after I had gotten the next mutation (on a male) the levels on the lower stat remained extra common. Is there anything I may be doing wrong? I am using the same strategies but I'm frustrated from the sudden change, any ideas?
It's completely random. You were having good luck then bad luck. I run into blocks like that all the time. When I was breeding on my cluster I was having 16 different lines going at once. Some would pull ahead and then would fall behind. Just the name of the game.
@@Chaotic_Gaming That's rough, I had a feeling it was just luck but I hoped there would be a magical solution to getting it fast again :/ Thanks for responding so quickly though, I wish you luck in any breeding you do.
I luckily dont have to do much with breeding since my dinos get health and melee weirdly well. After like 10 levels or so they can be already at 10k or 15k health. My tek rex with max level wild has now already 30k health and 2600 melee xD I swear I did not change anything up. So mostly a Generation or two for higher Boss Fights are needed
Impressive effort put into this guide, thankyou. However I really must ask people... Why would anyone bother with so much time and effort when all it takes is for your dino to get stuck on a pebble with no way to free it or some other bug to render all the time and effort obsolete? I am genuinely asking, what keeps you going when things like that can happen through no fault of the player? And so frequently too.
Well generally generally braking bugs that wipe out your dinos are not that common. If they get stuck. Cryopods. Breeding also allows you to replace lost dinos with the next generation.
Clarify please. If I have a male over cap and breed with a 0 Mutations female, the female chance to get a mutation can mutate the males stat, right? Thats the whole Puzzle, right?
This is INCREDIBLY confusing, and I hate it. My head is spinning. Anyone else who feels this way, I recommend repeatedly watching this video over time (and to use dododex) because he really does a great job explaining this here. Play solo, change the settings, and practice. I'm getting there myself, and it's actually thanks to CG's and his video getting played over and over again.
One thing I didn't quite understand after watching. Is all of this just wild and taming levels? How do domestic level-ups behave with breeding? Are they inherited (except for movement) or are they dropped? If yes, do they inherit as tamed levels or domestic level-ups?
Bro just saying this is THE BEST guide on taming and breeding. There are some that pretend to be beginner friendly, but you present all the information assuming no prior knowledge, perfect for old thickos like me. Honestly this video puts some other Million+ views from other overrated youtubers on the same subject to shame. Side note, once you have your base pair at the muating stage, if you want to there is a s+ mod called the mutator that will force a mutation on a baby. You can also use Awesome spyglass if you like to quickly identify a dinos stats both base and pumped
I knocked out a 120 carno and tamed it with extraordinary kibble on my taming list it said +60 but when it finally tamed up it was only at 179 instead of 180 so do level 120 only get 59 at high taming effectiveness?
So if i mutate Attack to 20/0 And HP to 0/20, combine then so i get 20/20? Would Attack 20/0 and HP 20/0 not work? or what role does matrilineal and patrilineal play? And i heard that it can go higher than 20 mutations. is that true?
The side the mutations land on doesn't matter beyond that if one is 20 that dino can no longer mutate any more. So as long as it breeds with a 0/0 there will always be a chance for a mutation. So yes you can mutate beyond 20 mutations as long as it breeds with something that doesn't have 20 mutations on it.
Got a question, in my friends server the levels aren't very high on wild dinos. The highest I've seen is 130. I just snatched two lvl 55 thylas after searching for hours and plan on breeding them. Will their offsprings levels still go up as far as possible or is there a cap based on original level?
You can mutate them the caps are still the same, soft cap at 20 mutations and hard cap at 250 something stat(been awhile). It'll take longer finding new mutations passed that soft 20 so I really recommend finding better thylas before doing it.
Yeah no, I'll just keep doing caves, get balms and just buying dinos from other people. There's no way I'll remember all of that, but thanks for the guide I'm pretty sure it's wonderful for those who can actually retain information.
Heres a "pro" tip on step 6. Do not go out murdering wild life. Instead breed rexes or gigas and get shit ton of fert eggs. Let them hatch and kill the babies with the dino, Killing 10 giga babies = instant 55 levels on dino. :) You can kill babies up to 65 but if you want to level it further then best way i know of is purple beacon drops on extinction ( at least take a friend with you if dino in question is not a giga :) ). Element vein defence is also good spot for leveling.
I don’t understand around 7 minutes into the video your talking about how imprinted stats don’t pass down and therefore are a waste for breeding Dino’s by every egg I hatch literally refuses to let me open their inventory UNLESS I imprint on them. I don’t know if there’s a way to by pass that or if I’m just being stupid
There's 2 imprints. That first click on it is claiming it. Then the cuddle timer starts it adds imprinting bonuses to stats if you do what it says. Don't do the timer.
How are you able to kill one of the Bosses on complete vanilla stats? I dont get it. Just breeding a big army of like Rexes etc isn't enough. You need to breed dinos on Melee ore Health, but on complete normal multiplier, it takes so long becaue of the cooldowns. So how the Hell can you beat the game withou like x50 multiplier on Female Dinos for breeding? I dont get it
Once I got 2 mutations at the same time (four levels higher) and they were BOTH in the stat I was looking for, mele. Plus, it was a male!!! Great vid btw.
why not talk more about negative mutation count and the ultimate goal of -1/20 mutation count dino? Yes it takes some time but can be done in parallel to the mutation stacking. with knowledge you can get to -21/20 and vastly improve late game breeding when mated to your 20/20 stacks.
Leveling Dino’s before breeding doesn’t do anything, right? Babies will only get the base stats. If anything, leveling your Dino’s makes it harder to track mutations?
I got a triple melee mutation on one of my very first tek rexes and it set me up for high expectations and lots of disappointment lmfao I even wasted 1 mutation slot because I was at 1 of 20 when I started that breeding cycle and when I got the triple it didn't carry over so at 19/20 melee I'll be at 20/20
hi, I have a question, once I have obtained some females and a male with the same stats and level (obtained by breeding wild dinos) which I call perfect M and F, can I use the daughters without mutations of perfect FeM to join the first line by mating with the father perfect M to increase the number of eggs laid? or do I risk ruining the process?
Does it matter which parent I get the mutation from? Does it have to be 20/20 matrilineal and 0/0 patrilineal(vice versa) or can I have 20/20 and 20/20
I have a question if i have a pair of theri lvl 380 and max lvl is 450 . For mutations i have to decrease its lvl by breeding it with low lvl one to get base stats i want with lower level dino. Will theri lvl 30 or something work to get lower level dino but same stats as 380lvl ones ? And I noticed that its been 9+months after posting this video and u still reply to all questions till today in comments we really appreciate u for ur hard work.
This very in depth detailed video shows how obnoxious and rtarded the breeding system is 😂 even if someone disagreed, it's also broken hahaha levels may not show, colors may land on invisible spots after the tame being out for 10+ years. Zero tutorial in game
I know I’m late as shit. But I have a stat box at 46-48-57-46 48 melee(how do I boost this) Do I need 2 find new wild Dino 2 breed a whole new line because all mine keep pushing those best stats. I know u said mutations are plus 2 but I somehow got a 57 weight before I understood much about breeding. How do I make that melee? Thanks
@@Chaotic_Gaming is that only way 2 do it? I don’t remember watching my weight go up 2 at a time 2 57. It’s only showing 1 mutation as Well Would finding 190 eggs give a higher roll than 48? Sorry for all questions. Thanks for response
I am both super interested in breeding in Ark, and super intimidated by the process. I think the hardest part is finding higher level dinos around the same level. Unless that is less important? Regardless, thank you for the video.
So, is it just chance to get a male from breeding mammals? I’ve bred about 10 times with Dire Wolves and have only gotten females. Is there anything special I need to do to get a male? And do I need to continue breeding with the originally tamed male or should I tame a new one after each breed?
Fun little fact - if you knock a tame out, but don't give it food, it will slowly lose hunger, but the taming effectiveness won't go down until the food is in the creatures inventory very high taming effectiveness even with using lower grade food note that it won't change the taming time
Food gives the same same taming effectiveness regardless of if it was starved or not. The only bonus starving gives is if it gets hit you don't waste food letting it wake up to reset it.
Dude its all just so much to keep up with. Its like rolling a snowball down a hill, the process just gets bigger and bigger and bigger. I hate that im so new and have no clue what im doing. I mean i can tame most creatures, im upgrading my gear to ascendant now so i can get a quetzl and rexes, but i dont see why breeding is so important. Ik theres bosses but how do you get to them? Like i said its a snowball.
I'm still so lost I have a ton of tek rexes I'm trying to breed up for a boss fight I have 1 male and probably 10 females, the male has high melee and the females have a mix of either high hp or high melee I'm just confused when I go to breed what am I actually looking for?
Can you please come and run my country 🤣I have subbed because you are very good at what you do and obviously hard working because making content is hard enough let alone playing the game, thanks mate.
cant believe the devs made it this hard. like they really thought it would be a good idea for the servers to host a dozen people trying to do this at the same time. no wonder official was always lagging, people had hundreds of dinos just so they can eventually have one... they really could have handled breeding better.
I thought you had to enable wandering for creatures to mate? I always wondered how ark RU-vidrs never had they’re creatures wandering and had them standing still
what should i do. i have a male therizinosaurus that was imprinted 100% that has 21k hp and 800% after levelling it up and a wild female that has around the same stats after levelling. they are both around lvl 220 and i need to breed theris for bosses
How do you know if a baby has gone up two lvl?? do the parents need to be the same lvl to know?? And if it says that perhaps the patrilineal have 20 mutations does that mean that the parent is the one with the mutations?? And will the baby get 20 mutations from that parent aswell??
You the easiest way to tell is to start of with the exact same stats and levels on your breeding pair. Yes the mutations and the counter will pass down to the next generation
What about max level cap? aren't you supposed to not combine multiple stats in servers whit max level cap enabled if you want to cap a particular stat like health or melee? also what about breeding whit low level females to get rid off undesired stats and lower the dino level in order to not hit the level cap?
All covered in the video bud. If your on a level cap server chances are you'll never hit that cap anyways. But if you really want to cap a stat then you definitely won't be able to combine with another stat cap. So you'll have to math out the stat you want higher. And yeah breeding with low preferably lol 1 dinos is the best way to maximize it.
No, Its not normal but i always say play how you want to play. If you are on single player then yes set it to 1 in the settings or if you are on pc then in the ini files set it o 5, for max 150 dinos
After 10k hours I've got ONE 3x mut on a Rex and I shit you not, I was walking it for a cuddle and it fell through the map! This was on official so i was SOL.
So I’ve got to the point of having a male with a melee mutation I want. So I breed it with my non-mutated females until one pops out that has the dads mutated stat, AND another mutation?
