I hereby headcanon that wherever possible, these variants are other members of the engines' classes. Hurrine, Conver, DexCo, Murglas, Harly, Crasel, Gim, Bulgy 10, Colty, Donn, Por Bao, Rero, Detch, Salop, Kobe 10, Hongthur, Sank, etc. ( Murglas is maybe Black Prince? )

Most fans of Five Nights at Freddy's agree that "Five Nights at Freddy's 3" takes place in the year 2023 (with the game coming out in 2015, that means it was set in what was then the very near future). Which means that was the year that the child murderer William Afton, reborn as "Springtrap", was freed from the sealed-off room that had been his tomb for 30 years while his body slowly decayed inside the animatronic suit he had died in. So with these cursed face swaps on top of the whole William Afton situation, I'd say 2023 was a pretty cursed year.
