It’s still compressed h264 being streamed over the network and you lose most of the quality and latency benefits of using a capture card; at that point you might as well just stream directly from the system

NVENC is about equivalent to x264 medium, iirc.

SLOBS uses OBS at its core for the main streaming processes, and slaps a resource-heavy Electron UI overtop of it. At no point is SLOBS ever a better choice for performance concerns.

When you connect the passthrough to your monitor/tv there’s no overlays. Those are only applied to the OBS preview. It’s also pretty laggy and not a good idea to try to play from

I guess my issues here is I dont have a fancy capture card its one of those cheap 20 dollars ones with an hdmi input and a usb output so i think im just kinda S.O.L here lol but thanks for the info anyways

If you’re only using 1 PC you shouldn’t be using a capture card But otherwise a second monitor, phone or tablet or something.

@@EposVox Yeah I figured. But with Elgato there are ways to display your capture card while streaming on the screen. I was wondering if there was a method like that for XR1 Lite.

If you are using passthrough, no capture card can let you see anything else on your monitor. If you’re just playing from the OBS or other software preview, then you can have chat up, but that’s going to have a lot of latency and not be recommended. This applies to all capture cards, Elgato included.

​@@EposVox ??? You can't tell me you didn't notice. I didn't even have to compare them to notice (for me this is all happening on a PS4). Take your console and take a set of headphones and plug them directly into your controller (I assume the Xbox one and above and maybe other consoles work similarly to the PS4 in that you can route the game and system's audio through a port on the controller...I'm not sure what you might be able to use or what you have but looks like you're connecting to a PS5 controller) then disconnect your headset and plug it into the XR1's Headset/Line-In port. It should get quieter. THEN take the TRRS cable that came with the XR1 and connect your controller to the Console Link port. It should get even quieter now. The audio that you're hearing is being routed through the XR1 and the XR1 gives you no way to adjust that volume. You can turn the volume of your console up (like on the PS4 you can crank the controler/headset port volume up to max) but it will still be VERY quiet in contrast to having it directly plugged into the controller. I Honestly didn't think you would respond, but I assumed if you did, you'd know what I was talking about and have a suggestion. But I I mean...the audio I'm hearing IS going through the XR1 so whether it be by software controls or hardware controls, I can't see how the XR1 isn't at the center of this issue (and the hardware controls ONLY control the volume of the audio being CAPTURED through the headset/line-in port and the audio of the game/system being captured either through the console link port or through the HDMI port). “The XR1 gives you no way to adjust the volume” - that’s like half of the device is a big audio controller. I’ll test and play with it but mine was plenty loud and you have volume controls right on the device. It’s possible your headphones need more power to drive than it’s providing but I had no such issue and it was plenty loud in my review

​@@EposVox well I found in my testing (so far) that the volume control is only for the audio being captured by both the Line-In port and the game sound (be it from the HDMI source or from the controller's audio port), not for the audio being delivered to your headset from the XR1. But that makes sense actually because if people on the stream or saying "hey you're too quiet" you can turn up the volume of your mic audio being captured or if they say the game is too loud and drowning out your voice, you can turn the game volume down. So that I absolutely LOVE about the XR1 (and honestly other than this issue, I love the thing entirely). So when I said no way to adjust the volume, I was explicitly referring to the volume that the XR1 delivers out the headset port. I am pretty sure that the earbuds I'm using are very low resistance (they are cheaper and cheaper headsets usually have low resistance so they can be more easily used on low power devices) but I will give some other headsets a shot that I have sitting around. Still, even if other headphones work better, the difference is a relative difference but at the end of the day if it's loud enough, then that's all that matters! Thanks for testing and playing with it, I really do appreciate it, and I hope something comes of it. Maybe my XR1 is just defective? *shrugs* I'm gonna play around with it too though myself since I'm determined to figure this out lol. I'll test them with a pair of 32 ohm headphones and see what happens. Thanks again.

@@EposVox I finally got around to some further testing, and I put everything together so that I could demonstrate the volume issues relative to a base volume. Before I did this, I did try my other 32 ohm headphones and the issue was the same. I took the original earbuds and secured one of them to my phone's mic and demonstrated the volume difference while the volume settings in the PS4 are at max. The video will hopefully make things really clear, if I managed to do a halfway decent job that is. If you have a few minutes (it's at about 3:45 run time), please check it out. I'm gonna post it to my EVGA post also and hope that something will come of this. Either way, I greatly appreciate the time you've spent thus far even just responding. Because it’s 2021 and Windows 8 generally shouldn’t be used, especially with a free upgrade path and parity of hardware support on PC And many capture cards don’t even officially support 8 anymore
