Insulation is so crucial. Your pup's room is better insulated than my old house. If I was so fortunate to have a set up like this, I'd have to mount a flat screen tv in there. Pete B. Just for future reference Insulation does not insulate still air is what insulates, what the insulation is doing is keeping the air still. So when you are stuffing R-30 in a 2x4 wall you are making less room for the air making it a lot less efficient for the cost. If those are 2x4 walls you would have gotten a better R factor with R-19 instead of R-30. R-30 is generally used in ceilings because there is room for it to fluff up to the whole 9" making a 9" thick dead air barrier.

Great job. You have been extremely considerate to ur dogs. Given dogs height, maybe the windows could have been lower. .. bigger, 2 instead of one & the dog door a little bigger. Maybe some bedding for the dogs?

Now just needs some puppy beds to complete their room. Actually that all a great idea it allows them to have access to the yard safely kept and an escape to a comfortable room like indoors to chill. If or rather when I buy my house I will do the same as you did!

Excellent dog house mate, one bit of advice, ditch the hide chews, they are bleached, chemical soaked pieces of crap that often mess up a dog’s insides and even kill.

The only change I would make is to put FRP sheets on the lower 4 ft of the walls so dogs can't chew on the walls or scratch them plus they would be water resistant from cleaning. It is great!

Looks like a pretty comfortable place to lounge with your dogs. Pretty cool idea that you made something to make yourself comfortable as well as your dogs. Building a dog house that's almost as nice as your own; that's one way to encourage yourself to spend time with the pooches. People like me building a "luxury" dog house would have probably just set up an old chicken coop with piles of straw for the "beds," a kiddy pool of water for the dogs to drink / cool off with, maybe a blanket in the winter, and if it gets too cold outside, maybe a small old-fashioned fire place or wood burning stove. You, on the other hand, have gone all out! Hopefully it discourages the dogs from coming into the house and gives your family more incentive to hang out with them!

Just out of curiosity as i assume it gets super hot there is foil backed insulation an option there. We use it alot in europe the foil repels heat back into house and but i assume in your case to repel heat away from house.
