The neck and bridge with the chorus is epic. Great playing. Dude this is honestly what I want hear. I'm converting my classic vibe jaguar to this style of pickups and this is what I was looking for. Great job.
My band WhoseHouseIsThis? and I just released our first album ‘Mediocre Afternoon’, which is where many of the riffs/chords from the sound demo of this video are from, go check it out! www.whosehouseisthis.com/music
Its a Jaguar with Humbuckers. So yes, it is the ultimate guitar. I myself have a Kurt Cobain Jag with DiMarzio humbuckers. It's perfect for rock and metal. ( Don't like Nirvana actually) .
Nice! I’ve got a Classic Player HH which is very similar. I’ve modded it a bit to perfect it. The big mod I’d recommend is switching the pickup selector out for a Kurt Cobain Jaguar one if you find your catching the switches whilst strumming. I also swapped the pickups out for Lace Sensors Dually Pickups as I’m a huge Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead fan. I found the sweet spot on the bridge was achieved by rolling the coil split switch just under halfway, when I lined up a screw hole in the roller up with the top of the chrome if that makes sense? It’s a beastly grunge machine. Have fun!
Hey mates, make those guitars your own, I own a classic player hh from 2015 and never modded it, it works perfectly for me, I am used to switch it as is. As much as I love Kurt Cobain, I love my guitar as is, I don't think I would want to buy his custom Jaguar, but I do own his jag-stang model and I modded it because the stock pickups were pretty bad. The reason I don't want the Kurt Jaguar is it is kind of a reduced version of the Jaguar you guys are holding, which defeats a bit the purpose of a jaguar. A jaguar for me is guitar heaven of versatility and an amazing studio ally and frankly live too. Quite a swiss knife as such.
I have a Modern Player HH Jaguar which I believe is replaced by this model. I love this guitar but I hated the switching. I would bump the switches all the time and turn off pickups, sometimes the whole guitar. In the end I put a 3 way toggle in place of the kill switch, moved the coil taps to the bottom on off switches and I couldn’t be happier
That guitar sounded truly great with the band. Good snag. Make your bassist watch your drummer. He's not locking in worth a crap and some eye contact would help a ton.
Cool guitar, one thing I would mod is the kill switch. It could be rewired to engage/disengage the coil splits. Haven't checked out any diagrams but I'd say it's not that complicated.
miss mine so much D; sold it to make rent LMAO treated myself to a hollow body Gretsch a year later and I've been using that for 4 yearsand i love it,,,,, but i must say, i still miss this guitar so much, nothing slaps like this one
Holy moly 8:47 had me absolutely jammin dude. You just popped up in my algorithm but definitely subbing and looking through the rest of your videos for your music too, it’s gotta slap after hearing the band setting demos 😎
Also I have a Johnny Marr Jag that’s sadly having a problem working right now but I have to say I think it’s my favorite guitar too. My only working 6 string right now is my Rickenbacker 330 and as much as I love that guitar… tone wise it just can’t do what a jag does in terms of the pick ups.
@@heedseeker6155 what color is it? I’ve always wanted to try one but I’ve never seen one in person, they look sick! I’d love to see the fever dream yellow finish in person! Typically I don’t really like a 7.25” radius, but Id still wanna try it out, they look like they rock!
@@thekipinator7660 I have the Olympic White color way. What’s funny is I love this guitar but there are some musicians that pretty much hate it lol. Somewhere out there there’s an interview from J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr talking about the JM Jag and his words were something like “I don’t get it” or “I don’t understand why this guitar exists” lmao but I get it. Not a traditional Jag in the slightest but you should try one out sometime if come across one, the tonal possibilities are incredible. The neck feels great and the wiring system for the pick ups is interesting too. They are definitely hard to come by and rare in the wild. The only time I’ve ever spotted another musician playing one was from a live show on KEXP of Alvvays. Molly Rankin plays a black JM Jag in one of their songs.
@@heedseeker6155 speaking of j mascis, his signature Squier jazzmaster is incredible, I used to own one and man I regret selling it so much. To my surprise they’re actually going back into production as of this summer so I’m definitely gonna get my hands on one again😍
@@thekipinator7660 that’s literally the next guitar I was looking into buying haha, right on. The Jazzmaster is the last Fender variant I haven’t owned but I’ve been eye balling that one for a while. Gotta be surface level about why… it’s because Jay Watson and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala used them. They had the googlie eyes taped on the headstock lol. Can’t lie, Tame Impala fanboy, anything they use and play I want. Got the Rick because of them and am getting the J Mascis Jazzmaster next. But I’ll stop the comment train here so you can get back to life lol. Just want to say you should totally make more guitar review videos and just videos in general! You have a good understanding of how to make content but especially with guitars. Very informative review that was entertaining with perfect examples of tones and fuggin banger examples of you guys just playing good music 😎
Excellent guitar. I have the exact same one…and have no problem recommending that people grab one before they’re gone. From surf to punk, the tones are in there. I also picked up the “vintage” version the same day. Another keeper. Obviously a bit different sounding, but love ‘em both. I have to agree with the coil splits…not something I’d probably do on the fly. I may just swap those out for switches at some point, but for now…I’ll just spin ‘em. Same with the kill switch. I may change that to a toggle or an arcade button. Need to see just how much abuse the switch can handle first.
Love this guitar. I have a seafoam. Kill switch is my new must have. It's the main thing i miss when i play my other guitars. At the end of our last songs solo i like flicking it on and off, sounds great. It is easy to tag when you're rocking out tho. 1st time out happened it caught me off gaurd. Now i instantly catch it.
In my experience so far a lot of the pickups fender label as “hot” just in general are never really that hot haha, thanks for enjoying the video tho man I appreciate it 🙏🙏
Mate: it wouldn’t be all that difficult for you-or a tech-to exchange those coil-split wheels for switches. As I’m strictly a studio musician, I think they’re dead mint; however, as a former touring musician, I can absolutely dig why you would rather they be toggles. Just something to think about.
I'd watch a video that debunks or confirms the claims on the sticker lol ("don't open in the first 24h else your guitar turns into a pumpkin" or whatnot).
Damn dude, that guitar's almost as big as you! Great video. Thanks for starting with the unadorned sound, it gives me a better understanding of what one sounds like. I'm trying to decide between a jag and a jazzmaster.
The daggo should go ez on the bananas tho. Not shure whether dags are built for that. And that's not to say that he should stop altogether, for he's very cute and - as bananas stimulate chemoreceptors to release serotonin - a happy, good boy.
Very nice .I usually play Ŧeles some with humbuckers but fancied something different so just bought a Blacktop Jaguar 90 [p90 version]in candy apple red .This sounds great too so may have to search out one of these to go with my Vintera 60s Tele modified
Now’s the time to get one! Now that the vintera ii’s have been out for a few months, the first vinteras are all regularly on sale, might be phasing them out for good
I have a 2003 crafted in Japan Jaguar and the pickups on mine are weak and the bridge is always a problem. The humbuckers and the tun o matic bridge are definitely an upgrade.
well sounds like you found your ultimate, so that's good but if I were to buy a Jag it would be authentic Jaguar. like with a Jaguar sound. I would like a custom Jaguar with extra features being like those on Mustangs where you can series/parallel on the pickups. But the Jaguar pickup is way different sounding than the coil split sound on this guitar and therefore it's a totally different guitar really. In that situation to be completely honest I would much rather have a Stratocaster. The Strat is the most perfect body shape size weight, and mine has rosewood fingerboard which I prefer over maple. Mine is a HSS model and that does me just fine in terms of everything I want it to do, personally. but.. I do want the tonal quality of a Jaguar and you can't duplicate that with Jaguar pickups in a Strat body. So if I bought a Jag it would be a real Jag.
for this reason I'm selling this guitar to buy Performer Strat or Deusenberg Paloma. This guitar is fun and versatile but the scale is really short and as you say the circuit is not real jag.
I had one. It is a good guitar. But it’s not a true representation of a Jaguar. Those single coil spilts can’t do the sound of the MIM 60s Vintera. I also have a Squier HH Jaguar which is has coil splits. It is super versatile and essentially what you have there. Depends on what someone wants. As an all rounder I agree with you. But again for a true Jaguar… you need those crazy Jaguar pickups. So much fun and so unique.
@@crispycream1845 great crowd that entire night, everyone was standing and singing along and no one was being obnoxious from what I saw, amazing experience
Nice! Can you give me an idea of the neck feel? I know it's a modern C and I've seen the measurements, but wondering how it feels in the hand. I'm looking for something pretty slim and narrow. Any insight would be awesome. Thanks!
I guess you already made your mind by now but the DiMarzio humbuckers on the KC Jag are way better, the Gotoh tuners are better and I prefer how the switches are wired on the KC. It also comes with a proper guitar case instead of the cheap gig bag. If you already got the Vintera Jag, stick some DiMarzios and have it rewired if you can swing it.
I don’t talk about this often, but a vast majority of my guitars, I don’t keep. I love trying new things often, and I can’t afford to keep them all, I sold this one recently. Made room for an MIJ FSR Jaguar I’ll do a video on pretty soon. It’s one of 12 that were ever made, and it’s a fantastic guitar, actually much prefer it to the the vintera now. Although, there are two guitars I’ll probably never part ways with, my orange player series telecaster (my first guitar) that you can see in my older videos from time to time, and my #1, my American pro ii strat. Never saw myself becoming a strat guy but damn this one is just THE guitar for me. Normally offsets are my thing, but this particular strat just ticks every box. Never made a video on it cus it’s ALWAYS in use, but at this point THAT one is the ultimate guitar for me 🤟🤟
