This is a compilation of footage, quotes, interviews, livestreams, and other videos that we have collectively referred to as “Fillie” or “Mileven” moments.
The compilation is based on well over a hundred videos, ranging anywhere from ten seconds to an hour and twelve minutes. This does not mean that I have included every single second of the videos in which they are together. This would make the video unnecessarily long, and may even diminish the meaning and purpose of the compilation rather than enhance it.
Nor does it mean that this collection is final and definitive. For one thing, the videos included are updated only until July 2017, and there will be many more videos and moments to come. For another, there simply could be videos floating around the Internet that I am not aware of or have not seen. Finally, and most importantly, I may simply have missed out some moments or quotes that should have made the compilation but were unfortunately not included.
What, then, have I included? Simply put, these are videos and quotes that give us meaningful insight into their friendship or relationship. These can range from the borderline romantic, to friendly and platonic, to professional. I have chosen to include this spectrum of footage because if we are to appreciate their friendship, it is important to understand as many aspects of it as much as possible.
Purpose
The purpose of this compilation is twofold: (1) firstly, for everyone to enjoy the friendship and relationship that we have come to love, and (2) secondly, for everyone to formulate well-informed opinions in the never-ending “Is Fillie Real?” Debate.
I hope we can avoid two extremes: the blind faith that makes us believe-without good reasons-that Fillie is real just because we want it to be real, and the overwhelming skepticism-without moderate openness-that closes us off from the evidence and empirical data before our very eyes.
If, at the end of the video, you conclude that Fillie is real, that is well and good. But be ready to wrestle and struggle with questions like, “Why does Millie say Finn is only like a brother?” If you conclude that Fillie is not real, that is well and good too. But also be ready to ask yourself, “Why does she bring up his name even when something else is being asked? Why does she treat him differently from the rest of the cast?”
The truth probably lies somewhere between two extremes. But for us to have a richer and more enjoyable understanding of their friendship, let us thoroughly examine the material that we have before reaching conclusions. Most importantly, everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions. Let us approach each other with respect and responsible, democratic discourse.
