Sam, you are one of the few reasons I finally switched from iPhones (over 15 years worth) to Android. Amazing videos with great descriptions. Thank you, sir!
as a Pixel 8 Pro user, I still can't understand how it is possible that OS customization on Google phones is practically non-existent, at the levels of an iPhone. embarrassing...
@@jonathanj.3695 I have had no problems with the animation on my phone. It could be because I have an animation set to 0.5 in the developer option anyway, or it could be because you are talking about a bug that got fixed in the Android 14 beta. Either way, my phone is animating just fine.
Thanks, Sam! Switched from iPhone to Samsung last year and even after digging into some customization in Good Lock, I still learned something from this video :)
OneUI is absolutely great. Goodlock makes it better like by a thousand percent. Seriously. The math checks out. You may think differently but I'm the foremost expert on all things on RU-vid and the internet in general. Trust me when I say....I'm qualified to give knowledge and advice on anything.
Love every bit of GoodLock. There's so much to choose that I cant even settle on one look and feel lmao. S24 Ultra user here and it looks gorgeous with these customizations. Btw, probably a long shot, but would you be down for a collab with me? It'll be a dream come true and this is me shooting my shot lol
I still don't understand why Samsung still keep adding things to the lockscreen... I don't want widgets on the lockscreen, in fact, I don't even want a lockscreen. I just want to use the FPR and start using my device unlocked ASAP. AOD customization is another thing, but the options for it are still limited
Nova Launcher on my Pixel 7a. up to 12 by 12 grid, any icon pack you like can disable home screen labels, not in app draw if you want and hide apps. basically, most of the home screen stuff you listed. your weird hang-up with third-party launchers is very strange. I have very few hangups with gestures except occasionally in other third-party apps.
Glad I watched this. Though I knew and used many of the Good Lock features already, the one I hadn't known was hiding the app names and resizing on the home screen.
I think it's good that Samsung has GoodLock but it's too much for me to dig through. I also have a OnePlus and changing icon packs is so much easier, just add an icon pack, select it in settings and you're done. Icons can be edited right on the homescreen vs. having to go back into Themepark. Oxygen OS feels like a customer launcher to me, One UI feels like it's one way for 99% of the people and a whole separate system to learn to modify One UI. I like my Samsung, but I prefer Oneplus for ease of customization.
Except OxygenOS increasingly makes customization hard... If it even exists in the first place. I.e the ease of changing icons you mentioned is not easy on OxygenOS currently you have to scroll through the entire icon pack to find an icon and it doesn't seem to even show the full icon pack just suggested icons that are never correct. Not being able to customise the Google feed/shelf etc...
@rm8385 Actually it's not in the settings but I asked on the OnePlus reddit and if you disable the Google app, then enable it, the Google Feed goes away.
Great video, what do you thnik about Motorola Launcher? The Motorola's phones have a clean Android and could you make a guide to custom Motorola's phone with their customs options? Thank you
nice vids man, hope you get more traffics for your channel! anyway, does anyone's goodlock homeup setting get reset after a few mins?? cuz my s24+ do and it's annoying😢
can you please tell me the model of this which are you using in that video? BTW the wonderful content you are sharing every day with us.. thanks man.. keep it up. love from Pakistan.
I really like the new way to add widgets on the lockscreen. It's new with OneUI 6. I rarely get to say it's a good iPhone thing that Samsung snatched up. Talking about the default widgets and not the way its done with Goodlock.
And thank goodness for the Goodlock module HomeUp. It let's me add the few things to the OneUI default launcher that are missing. Mainly changing the grid layout to more rows and columns and more dock icons. Not to mention changing the recents manager style and folders view on the home screen! Keeps me from having to use Nova launcher....or others....so I still have access to the Samsung default launcher things like dynamic widgets and widget stacks.
Today I set up my phone to look and work exactly like an iPhone through a launcher and some apps. Everyone was surprised as it worked exactly like an iphone and I said that's one of the reasons I don't like iPhones, you can set up any android to look like an iPhone
Instead of making it so complex. Let me give you straight answer, 1. If you have FULL ONEUI, then yes it is available for your device and everything will work, even if it is not available in your region, use FineLock (which will give you kinks to latest APk files to install and use) 2. If you have OneUI Core, then only a few of the Modules will work. No need to go into Phones Model number and series and A, M, F, etc stuff. just check what OneUI version you have.
I think s23 fe is a good option ngl depending on what u are upgrading from lol. I recently went from s20+ to s24+ but when choosing phones I did want to get an s23 but the fe was like small for me . As I said just depends on your taste and whatsoever
Is there any way to take a easier ScreenShot? I had an app installed : Screenshot Assistent and when I hold the home button, it took a screenshot. NOW it doesn't work anymore with the new updates. I heard about the 3 fingers swipe method , but I can't see that option or make it to work. SO, any quick screenshot methods/gestures ?? Thank you
I'm not really sure what samsung phone you have but if you can download goodlock then I have a kind of quicker way to screenshot than going to the ui panel. Open goodlock then go to home up on the bottom option then download One Hand Operation +. You can edit the side swipe gestures on what they can do and there's a screenshot option that you can choose. So performing a swipe diagonally up, down or straight depending on which you chose the screenshot icon on. You can also activate the long swipe option so you have more swipe options. Hope this helps
🤔 The problem with GoodLock is how Samsung uses it to devalue existing devices when they want to promote sales of newer devices. Ever since my first Samsung (Galaxy S2), I've noticed how system "upgrades" steadily _remove_ features that devices come out with, in favour of using them in the next generation of devices. People started complaining, and then GoodLock appeared, pretending at first to restore lost functionality. But as time passed, GoodLock started playing the same game .. withdrawing support for legacy devices. The most obvious casualties include camera features in every single device I've owned since the S2, and more recently splitscreen functionality and features. 😡
There seem to be some good aspects to the launcher, but after all the additional downloads and configuration tweaks, I still found it being not quite as good as "Pear Launcher". The widget stacking was an interesting idea, but I did notice that the widget left on top of the stack due not stay at the top of the stack when returning to the home screen, that was a bit disappointing. And the One UI Launcher did not respect the display setting of pop up widget, a tool I use to call up widgets in demand, which rendered it useless. The lack folder icon customisation was also lacking. It would appear that the One UI Launcher still has a way to go, at least for my liking.
If only Good Lock developers add an scrollable dock as Nova allows. To add some docks. Could be such a clean jnterface, only icons below (separated in "pages") and only widgets in the upper screen.
You can, however you also get a super Priority Apps bar at the top which you cant remove. It takes up a good portion of the screen and Samsung refuses to add a toggle for it.
I tried to use Wonderland but it always changes my normal wallpaper and my lockscreen wallpaper when I only want to change my lockscreen wallpaper and effect. Any suggestions?
