you might want to look into using synergy so you don't have to constantly change your keyboard and mouse form one computer to the other. i use it for my setup with linux on one side and windows 10 on the other. It works for windows, mac, and linux so it should work for your setup.

I have the same PC, focusrite, and speakers. I've never run into any problems with the PC. I've pushed it hard with video editing, photoshop, stock charts, multiple monitors, obs, etc and it still runs like a champ. I also have the Macbook M1 air. Great combo you got there.

Tip: look into Synergy. Instead of a singular monitor set up like you do, I have multiple monitors. With Synergy, it allows you to control your computers with one mouse & keyboard. It's been part of my workflow for years since I use both Mac & PC. It allows me to use both machines equally. Example: Display 1 + 2 = PC. Display 3 = Mac. Synergy can be set up so that you can use all 3 monitors & when you move your mouse off the screen, it appears at that same location on the other machine.

Awesome video, One suggestion though, Using the LOGITECH FLOW can help you to use the same mouse and keyboard on both devices seamlessly without clicking the button underneath. Simply hover to the edge of the display and you are done. The best part is that once you hover your mouse to another screen keyboard sync at the same time without any need to press the button. Make sure both supports LOGITECH FLOW. :D

Cannot agree more on the chair. Got an embody last year and while I get some quizzical looks when I say I bought it new, it was the best purchase for my setup. That chair and a 12 year warranty will far outlast the crappy "gaming" chairs that dont last, plus I also had the same experience with my back. Two weeks of adjusting to it and I dont think I will ever go to anything else.

Have you considered an egpu for your MacBook? I know they currently aren't supported with M1, hopefully that changes, but I'm still on my 2016 MBP hooked up to a 49 inch ultra wide which I occasionally use for gaming or photo editing and my laptop is whisper quiet while getting 80/90% of the desktop gpu performance. Plus if you wanted you could probably pay up for a single GPU then utilize it between both your Mac and PC unless you utilize both at the same time.

@ 8:20 you should use multiplicity so your mouse just glides from one computer to the other. i know switching probably doesn't feel like a head ache, but it's just so freeing to not have to do.
@AL.N-music

I run two computers side-by-side too, wish I can afford that display monitor though. Great setup. I think you can connect your Macbook on the front Aux-In of your speakers, in that way, you don't lose signal. The Y-cable works, but might not be the best solution for that. I run both my audio through a multitrack interface, then out to my monitors. Maybe your Scarlette can do the same. But yeah, the simplest solution is the better solution for the most part.
@jemgatus3547
@jemgatus3547 Год назад
Hi @allenalesna, is this also applicable to Mic Inputs? I would like to use my streaming Mic for two different worlds (Mac and Windows) would that be possible? If so, what would you recommend?
@AL.N-music
@AL.N-music Год назад
Hi@@jemgatus3547, you can do that for the mic inputs sure. But I would tread carefully on that. Mic inputs are typically 'pre-amped' so I'd recommend that you lower that input gain on the input. However, this input is usually mono, so one of your machines won't get a full stereo signal out to the speakers. If you could, I'ld recommend getting a small mixer with at least four tracks. In that way, you have the L/R outputs setup properly. Usually, those mixers have a stereo aux, and sometimes two auxes. But if you'd ask me how I would do it, I'd buy the Zoom L8 or PodTrak4, run it as an audio interface on the PC, with the audio out of both machines going into the interface hardware. Then running a DAW that would control both audio for the computers. And if I don't use the main PC (where the DAW is running), then I'd use the interface hardware on standalone recorder mode. It's kinda a lot, but see my main PC is always running than my laptop. And I always run my DAW so if I wanna take a break from work, I can just turn on my softkeys and play the piano, or grab my guitar and turn on the track that has a virtual amp in it. I'm running Reaper or Reason by the way. Depends on what floats my boat on any given day. For your streaming mic, you'd really have to connect/disconnect from one machine to another. A USB switcher would be a solution for that. I use that as well for my mouse and keyboard. As well as my Jabra headset for calls. Lastly, depending on which one is your main machine, you'd always want most of your periferals there. However, I do notice that your Windows is a desktop setup, so maybe you'd rather have the periferals there. You might just have to try the different setups and see what's most convenient. Running two machines at the same time is not a common thing, so solutions for such are always gonna be uniquely dependent from one user to another. P.S. I literally had to draw several times, the layout of the connections, and nerd it all up just to get it right in one go. And a lot of mind mapping and scenario simulations in my head. And yes, it helped to avoid changing setups, especially cabling.

I think he should have invested more, if he could afford it, in his desk as given what he has, he's going to end up buying something else when he would have been better off buying something decent that would last. Considering that, he broke his first rule given he bought a sit-stand desk to support his body and yet bought a minimum cost cheap, wobbly desk. The Vanatoo T-0.. will hands down blow those speakers out of the water.. they can be used for audio editing.. the Footprint is so small they fit a 4 inch woofer 1 inch tweeter, and a 4 inch passive radiator... Ive owned 500-1000 Kef speakers and these are beter.. and they have so many different mounting options.. seriously do yourself a favore and check them out.. pretty much every audiofile online has them at their desk.. they are beautifull.. so clean.. the sound stand is second to none.. they come from a very small company therefore the attention to detail is incredible.. its insane the levels of bass you get out of them without a sub.. and they have every hookup, bluetooth and more... I just want people to buy them so they dont go out of buisness.. or just buy the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 or their newer model with a classic 70s look and a bigger sub.. but the vanatoos blow them away for 300 dollars.. and the klipsch blow everything away for 150.. sometimes 99 dollars on sale.. there is a reason they havent changed them since the late 90s.. they are incredible.

I strongly suggest you should try synergy software, it will change your mouse/key input on multi computer set up. (virtual KVM).

Love the setup. I bought the same Anker dock, but had to return it, as it doesn't support DisplayLink, and I have an M1 MBP. With the Anker dock, I can't drive my 2-monitor setup. Found a DisplayLink dock at Costco for cheap. We'll see how that works. Currently also running a Dell laptop on the same monitors through a Dell USB-C dock. I'll figure it out eventually. I love the audio splitter--didn't even think about that.

Thank you for your post. It's a cool setup. After nearly two months of using it, how do you find the keyboard and mouse switching between computers? Does it consistently/reliably work?
@lidapow

I’ll recommend you try synergy out. It let you use a mouse and a keyboard to control multi computers. Your just need to move the cursor to cross border. Boom the other computer is under your control.

The ANKER doc allowed you to run both computers seamlessly just by connecting the monitors to the doc? Can you make a video showing how to set it up?

Nice man, i been looking at ultra wides to replace my current two monitor setup. This really helps sell it. Also SMC Fan Control will do wonders for the Macbook. Wonder if you thought about some kind of desktop KVM?

I too have an LG 49" Ultrawide. I have been trying find a monitor arm to hold such a massive monitor. Which arm did you use? I would say or suggest doing a video on just the monitor arm. A lot of people are going ultrawide, and will be looking for arm to hold the monitor.

I love this setup. I know your screen is 49 inches but I was thinking of 38 for the vertical real estate. Do you prefer the 49? Also I can’t find a 49 inch 1440p at least with 144 refresh.
@jchen_tech
@jchen_tech 3 года назад
Thanks! and yes I like the 49 inch a bit more just because I can use it as two 16:9 displays at the same time. If you want 144 hz I think the only option would be the Samsung odyssey g9, it goes to 240hz
@Blaquegold
@Blaquegold 3 года назад
@@jchen_tech oh yeah but that curve though! Any more and it will engulf me into the screen LOL. I appreciate how you can hook 2 computers to 1 monitor though now I’m thinking about it over the 38 inch.
