Nice and simple build. I would use LEGO springs for tensioning to avoid non LEGO parts. And a small spring to attach/detach the gondolas from the rope at each station should be possible in this scale as well.
Hi, thank you. I like the idea with the springs. I wanted to make a simple ski lift, so maybe in the future I will build chairs with detachable gondolas.
I made something like this when I was a teen and attached it to door frames. IT was able to go up and down stair and around a couple corners before making a return trip. I had a motor at each end to help. I also used a counter weight for tension but had to be careful not to pull the cord off at turns where the cable bends away from the corner instead of around it.
i can just hear the chairs going over the guide wheels half way up a quiet mountain. nothing but the sound of skiiers beneath you and the rattle of the wheels over the pylons. bliss.
this just popped out o nowhere and let me tell you, i am subscribing right now, i love how much effort u put in those vids and your builds, never give up, keep it up!! ur vids are awesome
Hi, I am planning to build a detachable system with a lower speed at the station. But it requires some special pieces, which I plan to get in the future.
when I was younger I used lifts like this in Scotland. And I mean almost exactly like this- single seat, fixed to the cable, no foot rest and no safety bar (a simple lap bar got added to one of them). They did have vestigial arm rests to stop you sliding out sideways, but that was it. Base of seat was tilted back a bit to use gravity to keep you on. So, this is wildly realistic, but of a certain type. Sure, eight seat high speed detachable chairs with conveyor belt loading and all that exist. But so do these simple chairs- these are ancestors.
This is nice and all, but Ive been on ski lifts and gonalas. Thy arn't on the main line while at the station, there on a slower line which is why you will often see multiple at the station even though they are so far apart when you actually ride it. They hop on and off the main line.
I have a idea of a ski lift. I used to go skiiing in nevada, and there was a lift that was just a faster version of all other ones. It had this system where the chairs get clamped onto a slower belt, and then once everyone was on, it clamped onto the faster belt, could you try and make this system of ski lift too with lego?
Hi, other lego creators have already built detachable gondolas which can achieve slower speed at the entrance. There are many cool ones on youtube. Unfortunately, that system requires a lot more lego pieces.
Of course, there are more advanced ski lifts on youtube, but they require a lot more lego pieces. I wanted to make a simple ski lift, which is more accessible to people, who don't have many lego pieces.
