This is in my opinion, the best loadout for playing a very low key guerilla tactics style game against the Automatons on Helldive Difficulty.

Any advice on primaries for people that haven’t spent 1000+ medals yet? Or are we just stuck with sidearms only? Also, what’s your opinion on using the anti material rifle instead of the railgun, since you’re only using it for hulks and devastators anyways? IMO, the AMT is actually better at the role since it can kill devastators in a single shot with 7 rounds in a clip, and it can also 2 tap hulks if you hit the head. Two is more than one, but not needing to charge and having higher ammo capacity closes the gap.

The Amat is quite loud unfortunately, and the MS paint scope, sway, and first person loss of situational awareness definitely lose me, that and missed shots against say rocket hulks are very punishing as there is no stagger unlike with Rail. That being said Amat had a section in this video before I decided to shorten things up not wanting to go on to long on something that is meant to come off as a decisive best. The Amat unlocks earlier, as you said has better ammo, and can 1hit devs, 2 hit hulks if you are very very good with it. To those that enjoy the skill expression of the Amat I respect your choice 100% It also looks way cool :)

Also as far as primaries any primary you can get a one shot kill on lights comfortably is a good runner up for stealth as taking less shots is less noise when comparing other options. As other than the plas-1 there isn't a super notable difference. So I used the Slugger previously, for reasons noted in my best automaton weapons video :D

Great video. I have one other thing to add: the autocannon is also capable of taking out fabricators at range. You need an angle on the vents and you can ricochet a shot into the fabricator if you aim at the center of the vent when directly facing it and be gone before the bots can get to you. This can be done at long distance if you can get the angle. I've cleared many large outposts by doing this, however sometimes you just can't get the angle needed to destroy the fabricator from a distance.

That last part, as well as the addition of getting ammo back for the Spear now from in mission crates is the reason the Spear appeared over the Autocannon in this video. There were actually three other weapons I recorded to talk about in this video, Buuut I didn't want to pad out the run time and cut them from it as a result. That being said the Autocannon is an excellent option for this playstyle imo before the Spear unlocks. As the Autocannon is usable much earlier, with more combat effectiveness against Devastators at the cost of the reliability in Fabricator Destruction. It stands as a top tier pick with it's middle ground between the Railgun and Spear options

I don't know if it works with autocannon but grenades even Impact can be thrown in the door of a fabricator, getting the line of sight might be a bit tricky but give it a shot you might be able to get it better by shooting into the door with autocannon. Not sure though I barely use it.

@@EravinVT I feel like the bots on draupnir particularly liek to have gatherings, I once saw a convention of like 30-40 light enemies in one spot just kind of... standign there looking at each other. Presumably it was a very important meeting so I didnt interrupt them.

great guide, im glad someone else has noticed how useful the spear is for fabricators. one thing i would personally add is that the anti-material rifle can destroy most low/mid bots in 1 headshot and kills a whole hulk in only TWO headshots. it has insane ammo economy.

The Amat was a cut segment that I took out due to wanting to convey as concise and close to a singular loadout as possible as the “best” option but there are many notable benefits to the Amat as well as cons I’ve spoken about in a few similar comments now! Solid option for sure!

I dont use any of those for my stealth runs(besides the senator) but i like to do the metal gear solid type of stealth. I take AMR because it can do most of what the railgun does against bots while being more permissive of missed shots or having to suddenly kill someone you didnt see or plan for, as well as having superb ammo economy vs the railgun. For similar reasons i take the Diligence Countersniper. The scope is great for taking out lone targets before you ever get near a base, and the decently low recoil, high stopping power, and respectable fiterate can let you take out a chain of bots reliably before they ever get a flare off. I have tried taking the scorcher but it just doesnt do the same job that I need done. Railcannon strike is pretty great for dealing with the sparse few heavy enemies you cant get a good angle on, like roaming tanks or base turrets. I usually take supply pack, as if you're stealthing you're often alone and also cant afford to get spotted calling in a resupply in contested areas. I've also been experimenting with jetpack for flanking from better routes for elite stealth moves, but i tend to find myself missing the 8 extra stims and impact grenades from the supply pack. I take impacts because they're fast and strong, killing a group of enemies before they can spot you cant be done faster than woth an impact or two if you really have to. Lastly i think I'm gonna start taking expendable antitank. If you slap the calldown beacon on the rear ramp on the top backside of a fabricator it'll blow it up ez, and since it's a blue strat i have HEARD it wont aggro patrols on you instantly and instead just proc investigation mode. Recon armor is of course highly reccomended, lets you get away with some silly shit when it comes to hiding in plain sight, as long as you get prone before any bots can scan you. I prefer the combat technician armor but honestly the perk is most important. If i take supply pack i end up taking recon booster, as it helps plan my routes through a map better, being prepared for enemy positions ahead pf time frees up a lot of mental space to do your job smartly and effectively. My main gameplay tips would be to 1. Know your detection ranges. At a standard run bots will see you from 45 meters out, which goes all the way down to 15 meters at prone, and is then further reduced by recon armor. Plan accordingly and know that in most situations, if you go prone before the bot completes a scan, they probably wont see you. 2. Identify enemy groupings. Enemies within a certain radius will all grow curious at a kill, and only if they start firing and other bots notice will the aggro spread. Once you kill one bot in a grouping, you have until they start firing off their weapons to kill the rest of the group to maintain high stealth. 3. Kill the little gribblies first. If you want to take out a patrol or a guard post, make sure to kill the guys who can flare first, any one of those fuckers could whip it out instantly so make sure you can be fast about it. Afterwards you can mop up the remainder.

Well I won't attempt to debate the reasoning to run one kit over the other but I will say it's cool to see others in the community giving these types of playstyles the same thought as me :D Glad you've got a setup that works as well!

AMR can do what Railcannon can do from greater distance. Its only downside is it takes a mag and a half to pop a tank or Cannon Turret. We do have grenades for them though.

i'll agree with the AMR, with the nerfs to the railgun, i've found the AMR to be the superior weapon to run against bots. you're aiming at the same weakpoints, only with the AMR you get a scope and more ammo, the AMR does the min required damage to kill pretty much everything easily. and unlike the railgun, it's hitscanned. meaning you pull the trigger and the bullet hits what you're aiming at. the railgun shell has to cross the distance to the target, and oddly this gives foes a chance to move out of the way (which doesn't make any sense, the point of a railgun would be to fling a piece of metal at high supersonic speeds, so in theory it should easily be able to achieve faster speeds then a riffle, but whatever).

imo if one uses the support weapon to deal with striders, AMR is now much better than railgun (i feel railgun now could ricochet if the angles are not right), but for hulk sniping I personally still prefer railgun (despite the worse reticle...)

Striders pop from the front with the Plas-1 so I never swap to my railgun for those.

I don't get how everyone says bots are harder, but I always have an easier time with bots than bugs. Stealth and cover is easier to do than running away from a horde 24/7.

I also find bot planets eaiser to stelth through, the bugs seem to have a much longer agro range and chase you forever lol

oh if we are talking about specifically stealth it’s different, I think bots are by design meant to lend a hand to stealth gameplay due to how brutal it is being forced into direct conflict while the bugs allow for more of a power fantasy but their patrols/“guard” setups are much more numerous and difficult to work around without getting into a direct encounter.

The spear is able to once shot hulks and tanks if you hit them from the back during an engagement. I usually run the spear in my group because of its capacity to do this, however it can still be finicky. Another really good upside to it is it can one shot cannon towers from any direction if you get a lock on it. I have use my side arm to plink a round of its armor to agro it then lock and fire before it fully turns around. Super satisfying when you get the 300m kill from a bush XD

This is honestly my favorite way to play this game. I have dedicated friends I play with and my job is always to grab the super samples then play scout for them. I'll keep my distance and snipe. Moving every few shots so I dont get patrols on me. I use the railcannon as regardless of buffs or nerfs it's my absolute favorite support weapon. I use the jump pack for the insane mobility and that I can get elevation on my targets. Then the railcannon and airstrike. I use the light armor with increased throwing range so that I can keep my distance while providing support via stratagems. The only time I change weapons is I'll swap between the counter sniper or the slugger depending on mood and mission difficulty.

Great video man, thanks for the tips. I always bring the EAT-IT because it just feels so useful. Low cd time, you get two and they can reliably destroy tanks, hulks and those big laser towers as long as you can sneak around to the weak spot.

Holding it down for a good bit of time, but I've not spent enough time in direct conflict to feel out exactly how much charge is the sweet spot on hulks. Hard to judge on if I just missed the head hitbox or if I didn't charge enough to kill. Been charging quite alot though, Definitely need some overcharge for sure I think. Devastators just a little overcharge seems to take them down without a headshot to the torso.

I've recently been introduced to the power of Smoke and controlling AI movement with a massive application of smoke I don't get a ton of kills, but I do get some value as the sample recovery specialist of my playgroup, as well as helping direct combat in subtle ways.

Pretty cool guide, sorry some of the comments you're getting are fucking weird though. I do a lot of 'stealth' stuff too, but in more of a raider way (get in quiet, get out loud). Didn't know about weapons having different 'noise' profiles, though. You can sort of figure it out, but I just assumed it and never capitalised on it. I run the supply backpack, grenade launcher, 110MM pods, smoke grenades (!), and the deployable bubble shield. Grenade launchers currently receive two full reloads per ammo pack, which is likely the most ammo efficient thing in the game right now. You can line yourself up with fabricators from distances of over 60-80 metres and dial in with quick trial-and-error, and the noise profile seems to make most enemies in the base just get completely confused until you damage one of them. 110MM pods exist for that perfect drive-by precision, though is replaceable by air strikes. Smokes, though, are unbelievably good with practice. It's rough because you have to trade out any support weapon option with a grenade launcher (anything else is too unreliable for base clearing, even the autocannon). But the feature of breaking lines of sight in this game is one of the most underrated things, and most players will forever sleep on it because they for some reason cannot piece together how optimal it is to simply... leave an area... instead of, you know, engaging in combat for 5 minutes straight once the objective is done. Deployable shield and smokes allow you to stand your ground for almost any objective in the game, even the final mining drill. Even though enemies will always shoot through the smoke, the fact they constantly lose sight of you means they constantly fail to accurately work together to land precise shots on you. Paired with supply packs, you have an extra 8 grenades and stims to brute force through it with minimal enemies actually being able to force you out of a worst-case-scenario. All of that works perfectly with stealth and, even better, works as a general supportive role in pubs or with friends. Sorry for the long one, try give it a shot sometime, and thanks for the guide, I'll definitely be giving the scorcher more of a chance.

The grenade launcher is definitely a solid option as well that I’ll admit I did not give enough consideration or testing. Smokes are something I enjoy a great deal when the context of what I’m doing allows me to run them. So as you can imagine the news we will be getting a grenade pistol was very exciting for this reason. I’ll give the grenade launcher some more play soon as it was a favorite of mine for bugs back in mid difficulty and my go to in HD1. It’s also decent at killing devastators which is one of the flaws with the Spear as its very combat ineffective

Precision mostly, the airstrike can surprisingly whiff even when you have it dead on the fabricator you need dead. 500k if it’s dead on will always kill the building guaranteed. Same with the rocket pod even if you don’t get it dead on. As long as there are no heavies around it anyways. Nothing worse than throwing your stratagem and going to walk away only to realize the fabricator didn’t die 😁

I was testing out the rocket pods and they are really nice for clearing bases. Recently I've taken a liking to the cluster bomb also, it clears everything that can call a bot drop which is super nice for extraction and points of interest. @@EravinVT

I like taking the AMR because i prefer to take out bots from afar, which the railgun has poor sites to do so effectively, while the AMR does. It also being capable of one shotting Devastators all the same (and if you miss you can spam fire a followup to finish the job), feels really nice to use as well. Though i feel its hit detection on Hulks is garbage because sometimes i hit the eye just for nothing to... Come out. Also never needing the time to charge at all.

I don’t dislike the Amat, it had a segment I cut from this video as I wanted to convey as close to a singular concise build as possible. It has many pros and cons I’ve spoken of in a few similar comments so far. It’s a solid option and definitely a worthy competitor for those that can get by its less than stellar optic sway and first person situation awareness as well as most importantly aim well.

@@EravinVT honestly I dont really feel its sway as much as I do with other guns when it comes to first person mode. Probably because when I'm taking aim I crouch to lower it which I had realized merely crouching reduces sway/recoil by like 75% for some reason. I also like using the Diligence because (like the gun you recommended) it can also one shot most fodder. It can't pop tanks and cannon turrets, though.

I never tried 9, but I did a lot of 6 and 7 bots with friends, and I mostly prefer staying away from the group and clear stuff solo. I would pick eagle airstrike instead of rocket pod, one airstrike is usually enough to wipe a base and thus yielding a few more samples. One trick I discovered is that, if you throw the strategem during forward dive it would go much further (I can constistenly land my strat on target 60m away with pinpoint accuracy), and landing on the ground prone will likely prevent enemy from sounding alarm from the airstrike.

That tip is cool, never tried throwing on a dive so I’ll have to give that a shot. Normal Airstrike was going to be an honorable mention but was cut from the video due to wanting it to be more concise. It has some issues with reliability due to the bombs sometimes whiffing even when laid directly in front of the target fabricator that kept it from my go to list. But was tested extensively (half or more of the video clips I’m using Airstrike)

I enjoy stomping bugs for the fun of it but automatons are much more challenging for sure and imo make better content. That and stealth gameplay works better against them.

I would drop the rocket pod probably since it’s just extra clear, where the 500k can have vital importance for clearing detectors or fabricators with nearby heavies. Would only ever sub the laser out for orbital 380 just because it’s the same use case with more random results

Not bad, I've been opting for stealth in my missions as well but I take a more distractive/supportive approach to mine. AMR support weapon for long range to remove medium > heavy enemies (except chargers atm and only relatively useful against bile titans for taking out the sac so altogether I try to avoid engagement with heavies when it comes to bugs but can 2 tap headshot hulks with this thing), a shield for bots or a jump pack for bugs since vertical movement allows for another means of sneaking around and gaining height to scout areas more easily, the autocannon sentry (moreso for bugs) as it removes heavies reliably and is a good insurance stratagem in case you're somehow discovered or are dealing with more than you can chew OR need a distraction so you can sneak around while the enemy is interested in the loud turret. Then finally the eagle air strike for removing fabricators and bug holes alike without prejudice. You could swap the sentry or this out with the exosuit or a barrage depending on the mission for more sustained cover fire or if you'd rather go solo or play a more supportive role with your team. The important part is using the AMR and scorcher from long distances taking into account enemies positioning of who they face or how far they are from hearing your shots. The redeemer is a good option for a quick "remove many smalls" when you're in the middle of reloading or want to get away from stalkers while running away since you can blind aim it backward in third person. I usually opt for the impact grenades as a quick method of remove tanks and towers since it only takes 2 throws to the turrets to remove and you can throw these into the opened doorway of bot fabricators... though frags are a bit more consistent to sinking them into the open vents. Ends up being a tossup between wanting more stealth for speed or more versatility to remove obstacles that could hinder your team or you. Good video, I hope you keep them up!

I'm disappointed that the anti-mat rifle and the auto cannon were not brought up. They can be loud, but that doesn't matter if you're far enough away. And the anti mat can do almost anything the rail gun can do. I also like the barrages, even if they can be finicky at the worst of times, two of them together ALWAYS clears out outposts from my experience. Plus, it's just plain cool. Feel like a JTAC recon unit sneaking in to get a lay of the land and choosing the appropriate tool to take them enemy out. For added fun, try tossing an orbital smoke before the barrage starts to really cause chaos among the enemy

The antimaterial has alot of usability issues that put it soundly behind the railgun as they share the exact same purposes, it had an honorable mention segment that I cut for the sake of staying concise as it IS a good weapon in it's own right for those that have the skill for it and can get over it's quality of life issues. The Autocannon was also cut as it sits soundly between the railgun and the Spear, serving both purposes but less combat effectiveness then the rail, as well as more difficult fabricator stipulations than the Spear. Barrages are a decent alternative if you want more saturation after their buffs, although I prefer the laser due to it reliably destroying atleast two fabricators if not more, while the barrages may do that, or whiff entirely depending on the day. As this was a video talking about the very best, alot of options didn't make that tier.

@@EravinVT Totally understandable. For my play style the Antimaterial is my best choice just because of the experience I have with it and lack there of with the rail gun. And I only mentioned the barrages as a personal favorite for dealing with fabricators and my preferred load out, I don't think they're the best but instead I think they're really fun when used properly

Oh, and don't sleep on the diligence and the counter sniper Variant either. Range engagements mean that when things eventually do to fubar, you're not in the thick of enemies, and you can attempt to escape

When I do stealth gameplay I bring the counter sniper. Shooting form so far and 2 shooting heavy units with head shots (minus hulks). Also snipers are fun

everybody keeps sleeping on the lascannon. although it cant take out fabs, its very effective against every bot type and can be used to destroy AA and mortar emplacements, along with the best ammo economy as an energy weapon and an insane effective range. also dont sleep on the jump pack either- once again you are nerfing your firepower, but the utility of being able to quickly gain ground when you need it or snag an angle that you wouldnt be able to normally is such an underrated boon. it shines when jumping off massive inclines or cliffs, or any difficult terrain for that matter, as well as the fact that you can throw stratagems pretty far if you time the toss with your jump well.

I got a bug stealth vid but at this point is irrelevant due to all the updates. Also, bugs are simple enough stealth is as easy as avoiding the engagements and making your targets. Big bug nests are always an issue but mechs being actually viable against an enemy which doesn't properly shoot back... Helps. I'm not the expert here. But avoiding a patrol goes a long way.

My preferred bugs loadout is in the works, the structure of how guards are posted in Automaton missions allows more practical applications of stealth but it's not impossible to keep a low profile vs bugs by any means. Just not as effective a playstyle vs bugs as bots. Nor as necessary as the bugs are an overall weaker faction you can take in a full frontal assault much more easily imo.

Yeah more so then anything I don't want to make a video on a build I don't believe in, so making a video as a "stealth" build on bugs when I know 100% someone should still be bringing the patriot as it's just that good over anything else, (A very not stealthy thing to do), would feel disingenuous over just making a normal Bugs loadout and advocating the application of my stealth tips instead. In Comparison me advocating for this stealth build vs bots, I know is the most effective playstyle.

@@EravinVT fair enough, I can definitely get that for one faction stealth is totally viable while the other is not. Just interested in your take on the best way to handle bugs. I try to dis-engage as much as possible but end up running blindly into either a patrol or a POI because I’m more worried about what’s behind me than in front, or the hunters surround me too fast and I have too hard a time that way. Then the drop puts me right in the middle of the mess again and again

The normal airstrike was on a list of honorable mentions cut from the video for the sake of being more concise, however it wasn’t picked due to an issue in reliability. The airstrike bombs can and have for me whiffed even when directly on top of a fabricator even once twice in a row. Where a rocket pod as the same charges, and will never whiff the fabricator as long as it’s the biggest target. In the case it isn’t I throw the 500 which I also know will with certainty blow up the fabricator 😁

Bugs base structures are much more difficult to play stealth around, and their deep in the ground/ numerous making it difficult to clear them out with stratagems. Thankfully bugs are easier to take in direct fights so utilizing elements of of stealth gameplay like baiting breaches will still be relevant. But otherwise taking the fights will be much easier then trying to sneak around persay

So without the scorcher for primary it be any weapon you can comfortably one shot light bots with which is "most" options, as only firing once is still going to cause alot less attention then anything you need to fire more than once. So hopefully that narrows it down. Before my Plas-1 I used the Slugger as it's my runner up in my best primaries for bots video.

IMHO the starter orbital strike is great because of its fast recharge, unlimited use and it'll still destroy fabricators. Second i take is the standad eagle bombing run. You got a couple uses for fabricators before rearm but is still viable to take out heavies and hoards if you need to. Unlike orbital, dont even need to be accurate with it. With both its a cheap combo and you can do fabricator after fabricator. Both of these you'll have after a couple missions so even a newdivers can use them. 500kg bomb on a fabricator is a waste imo when you can just use lighter munitions, and rocket pods as you say can target other enemies. Other two slots you can use whatever. I'd rather use an autocannon instead of a third orbital/strike to snipe out not only fabricators but powerful units guarding them.

One of the major benefits of running the eagles is you often times will want back to back strikes with your 500 and rocket pods when needing to clear multiple large bases. The 500 is also very versatile as it can destroy detector towers that a standard strike could not. Standard airstrike is also not extremely reliable on fabricators as where the bombs actually land can and has missed the fabricator for me. Nothing worse than using your stratagem and not getting a dead fabricator so my choices were based on both consistency of application, and rapid fire ability 😁 That being said there is no wrong air support options for this task, these were just the ones I’ve found to work best for my games. There is also merit in stratagems that unlock earlier in progression as well.

@Eravinttv That's fair mate. I guess I haven't had as much issue because I rarely go above difficultly 5 so don't encounter the larger tougher bases. I mostly run solo with the autocannon to snipe fabricators and only use airstrikes/orbitals when I can't. I think I'll give the rocket pods a go. Top video by the way...I don't think people realise how bad the bots can hear!

Smoke Grenades are great but you need to run a support weapon to compensate your loss of fabricator closure especially if running solo, I use the Spear when I run smokes with this loadout now

You throw them in the direction you are running and pass through it to break LoS with what is pursuing you for the most part, you can also throw them on a hot objective to provide some cover as the terminal is operated, or use it to cover the extract pelican during a hot extract

@@EravinVT it stays open for a bit after spawning bots. If you already cleared the camp you can just spawn kill them at the door and throw it in. Also to consistently pop them it has to be aimed a tad lower than usual. Downside for it compared to frags is knowing that trajectory is hard from anywhere from midrange and further.

i honestly think stealth is pointless cuz the game constantly spawns patrol groups that happen to walk into ur general position. meaning the game will never allow u to do a completely stealth run. even if u drop into a completely empty area the game will just spawn a patrol group of enemies and send them in your general direction. this i think is a design choice because they need the game to move forward cuz its a coop game and if u have randoms dead on your team, they dont exactly want someone trying to stealth

Stealth is absolutely viable and I would say, the best option. You’re not a super hero or cannon fodder. You need to think like a Navy SEAL or something. Get in, do the objectives, get out. You don’t need to fight every patrol and with stealth armor you can sneak by most patrols.
