My husband and I were at beautiful knitters on the 31st of august on our adventure to London and Paris, what a fabulous shop and we purchased our yarn that was made within 50 kilometers of London 🥰 since it was my husbands birthday, they gifted him one of their project bags. They were so kind and very very helpful 👍👍👍
I LOVE the bags. I think Norman from Nimble Needles uses those Hide & Hammer bags - they really are attractive and sophisticated in appearance, but appear to be great to use too. Plus seriously: Knit with Attitude? What a GREAT name. Terrific Tour Mark.
My daughter and son-in-law are going to London in October, and I am keeping their pup. I think I will put in a request for something fun from one of the shops you took us too. Fun!
Loved how this video felt like I got to have a tour of London yarn stores! I especially enjoyed all the footage of decor and unique yarn and makes from local designers. Thank you for sharing this!
Yes, the yarn and other goods were amazing, but the thing that was most impressive💌 was your resolve! I would have blown my budget several times over. Thanks so much for allowing us to "crawl" vicariously through your video! Best wishes for a safe and happy remainder of your trip!
Londoner here! I know four of these shops very well but I've not heard of Stash ... I'm guessing it must be new. I will have to investigate! I love the fact that the London yarn stores don't overlap too much but cover a huge range of yarns between them.
"Mark, I love experiencing London through your lens and discovering the diverse knitting shops you visit. Thank you and Ned for sharing your wonderful travels!"
Thank you for sharing that window shopping is oké and fun to do. So you can dream a little about the things that are not in your budget right now, but might be in the future.
Yes! I used to ALWAYS buy something at every yarn shop I visited. And eventually I had accumulated so many random items that I didn't use or have plans for. Now that I feel more comfortable window shopping, it helps me know exactly what I want to use when patterns and project ideas come my way.
I visited Loop this summer. So many lovely things. I'm from The Midlands and Loop is within walking distance of St Pancras station that serves that area of the UK. I'm hoping to visit again next month when I'm back in London overnight. Thank you also for showing the other shops as potential future places to visit 😊
Hi, I'm a native Shetlander and really LOVE your videos. You are now my new favourite and I subscribed right at the start of my watching your channel. Take care to you and Ned. Kate x
My mom and I visited Stash in 2012 and seeing your video brought back some great memories! I'm impressed you were able to get to soany yarn stores- Loop was closed by the time we got there.
Mine comes in and admires anything I put in his hands. Even when he can't see it, lol. (He's visually impaired & can't get a read on darks or pastels.) These days he's more likely to be outside with our spawn, tho. They're still at an excitable stage
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
Thanks Mark..what a gorgeous way to spend the day 😊.. I can see why you love Ned..he's beautiful ❤.. if you ever consider a trip down under..we have an amazing mixture of Creative Fibre here in New Zealand ❤
I can’t wait to see your videos and really look forward to them. I love the idea of just visiting a yarn shop and just having fun. I probably have many yarn shops nearby that I haven’t even seen yet. I’m going to plan an adventure.
We visited both Beautiful Knitters and Loop. Both shops are really nice. The folks at Loop were very nice and helpful. I bought 3 skeins of yarn exclusive to the shop from the Orkney Islands and made a cowl from them. Thanks for the lovely tour!
What a lovely video again and perfect timing as I'm travelling to London in just over a week! Definitely going to check out a yarn shop or two and got very good tips from you so thank you 🤩 And a bit rainy greetings from Vantaa, Finland!
I liked seeing the yarn shops, some street scenes and I loved the music. I was knitting with Rowan Felted Tweed as I watched you and perked up when I saw the nice stock of it on the shelf.
I had to repeat that first shop, Stash, - in “Mt Pleasant” - I live in Charleston, SC - and different sections, one that is a Major part of Charleston, “Mt Pleasant” - what fun - a trip around London to knit stores!!!❤️ so much fun traveling with you, have been to London a couple of times, one of my favorite places !! You have been having a fabulous trip with Ned and also, your family.🎉
Oh that's a neat connection! It's funny to see city and neighborhood names that match where we are from in the states :) Thank you so much for being here!
Hi Mark and Ned! Thank you so much for bringing us along on your trip. I love what you have been doing with your vlog: to be truthful, I’ve gotten so tired of the usual “ here’s my CO, here’s my WIP’s and here is my CO..oh, and so and so gifted me with Yada Yada Yada” . You’ve hit the nail on the head as far as content!
I am soo looking forward to Beautiful Knitters! I have a London trip planned in a month and a half and honestly I've been going through London Yarn crawls on youtube trying to decide which shop to visit, 'cause I'll only have time for one :D. And yeah, Beautiful Knitters seems like a good choice to land on. Thank you for the tour!
Hi, I have just watched your video. I don’t live that far outside London, but have never accessed those stores. John Lewis on Oxford street used to have an excellent craft department with an on hand Rowan consultant, these days no consultant and department that is mediocre. My local trusty yarn store is Buttonknit in St Neots- about an hour on the train north of London. Has everything that you need, and some to desire!
Thank you very much for this brief travelog of yarn shops in London. My cousin and his husband live in Battersea, I'm hoping to visit them in the Spring.
Hi Mark, I work at a pretty fabulous wool shop in Canada, and I’ve heard so much about Loop. It was great to see it, and all the others you visited. ❤️🧶🌈
I loved visiting all these beautiful little shops with you. Such fun to see all the wonderful yarns and all the accessories that go along with kntting/crocheting.
Oh my gosh! Those Hide and Hammer bags are dreamy. I am now a follower, of their IG and a consumer of one of their delicious project bags. My husband would call you an “Enabler.” I say you provide crucial access to resources so your followers can live their very best lives. 😉
Ha! My feet are tired. We tried to limit the walking and take the underground as much as we could! I've worn the same pair of boots for the last 6 weeks - and I'm so so excited to get home and wear all of my other shoes for a change!
This was a super tour. Thank you for taking us along. I have two Hyde & Hammer bags and although they are not cheap they are so worth treating yourself when able. ❤
Hi Mark, Thank you (and your husband) so much for sharing your journey to UK. These yarn shops in London are beautiful! As you are still in UK, I wonder whether knitting a Gansey would be an option for you ? 😊 kind regards !
Thank you, Mark, for allowing us to accompany you on your wonderful tour of these beautiful shops. I live near London and am very much a beginner, so I would feel intimidated to go in them, fearing that the items they stock are way out of my price range. I do most of my yarn shopping online.
wonderful video so glad you enjoyed your trip. I live in the London suburbs and have only visited Loop so thanks for this will put these shops on my list
Thank you, it was great to see all of these shops, I've never been yarn shopping in London, beautiful knitters is really cool, I loved the project bags, may buy one, I have just been looking 😊
Thanks for showing us the cool stores! what, not-famous professional musicians don't have all the money to blow on knitting?? 😉 Personally, I can barely wait to go to For Ewe over in Oberlin. She's got a new place next to the big park there. Haven't been able to get gas money since the kids got back into school (My pair like yarn stores, but as elementary schoolers still have limited patience, especially the one with adhd.)
I love to find unusual places to knit or buy yarns on vacations, my favorite place was a grocery store on mackinaw Island in the strats of lake Michigan and lake Huron. They had a corner of the store with some yarn and a large wooden farm table to set at and knit. The most unusual place was a casno lobby! I got a lot of strange looks lol!
This video made me want to go yarn-shop-hopping. My closest yarn shop is 30 minutes away and I wish there were more in my area. Mark, if I were you, I wouldn't have been able to contain my shopping/buying restraint. If I were in your position, I would have found it necessary to buy another piece of luggage just to pack all of the purchases from the day's adventures. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, Mark! I would love to visit all those places! You should work with a travel agent and put together a tour for 2025 or 2026. Limit the number of people to whatever you want to. Think about it. 😊
Mark, will you share how to access the video of your performance at the cathedral? It came across my feed but I wasn't able to watch it then and lost it. I really want to see you and Ned in such an awesome performance. Love what the two of you accomplish and have followed every minute of your trip.
Thank you so much for following along! This video should take you to our performance. Our bit starts at the 4 hour and 20 minute mark. I think the link should take you straight to it! ru-vid.comhXfU_BRnQdo?si=IAIzlMGHLuU7vKEg&t=15606
Thanks Mark! I am travelling to London on Monday from Sydney and I am so grateful for your ideas for yarn shops to visit. I am going on to Shetland for Wool Week too - so many opportunities to buy more woolly goodness❤❤❤
Thank you for this tour! I have been to London once and managed to find Loops but am excited to find the others! I am going back in December so I will be writing down the names of the others.
Hello Mark , Loop is my local wool shop and Stoke Newington and Farringdon are also within a mile of where I live but I have never been to those shops. I always feel a little intimidated going to such 'posh' looking shops. I do a lot of my yarn shopping online or from Mandy at 'Mouse's Makes' . She has a fun little RU-vid channel and sells her hand dyed yarn on her Kofi shop. Would have loved to bump into you while you were in London 🤩
Another video made with love. Thank you ❤ I always love the atmosphere of yarnshops, no matter where. There's always something to inspire and push my creativity 😊 Rowans felted tweet is one of those yarns, I have heard a lot about, but still not tried....
Thank you so much for that very kind comment! I like Rowan Felted Tweed - they have colors that really speak to me. I made a sweater from it last year and it was nice to work with. The only thing I noticed that might affect future projects is that the yarn is fairly light. I think it is classified as a DK yarn, but I found it to be more like Sport.
Interested to know which was the sixth shop that you didn't make it to? Really enjoyed your tour. I used to live in London, but have only been to one of these shops.
I've just found your channel and am really enjoying all your vlogs, particularly of your travels in the and around the UK. The only thing is that you have so many adverts that come in at random moments it spoils the flow (and are a bit annoying). I know that there is some income derived from the ads, but is it possible for you just to limit them a little. There are a lot. But otherwise these are very interesting videos so thank you for posting your travels. Playing the piano was a great watch! I want to hear the singing, hopefully coming soon!
Thank you for watching! I understand that the ads can be cumbersome. Some videos receive so many, while others just get a few. Unfortunately I don't get to limit how many - it's all or nothing - and for now, I do depend on the revenue they generate. I appreciate your time in watching when you can!
