Looks much better than the original, and you can save getting wet by using the remote sitting in the comfort of the truck. All you need now is a gadget to unload the groceries!😂

I would like to say I have watch every video you put out. But. I was wondering if you have or will you put together a video of unwise products used, wear and tear issues, high maintenance upkeep you changed your mind and changed and outside of house mold/moss and cracks. Examples I have seen you replace. Deck rails. Garage door. Tree removal. Etc

Hi James, playing catch up again. Haircut looks good, way younger. This is just a note on use of aircrete. This product is all the rage at moment in Philippines as was 20 30 yrs ago in UK. We now paying the penalty as its failing. Schools closed as walls crumbling. This product first came to light to me 50+ yrs back as carving material at school, but was used in construction as secondary walling and never as load carrying. You can check UK news to see this problem. Many vids in Philippines seem to use as main structure with added rebar. I give it 30 yrs before it fails. Have watch you since covid, when watching upto 15 vids a day lol. All the best.

Funny. Before you got too deep in the video. I mentioned to my wife, that guy is still in good shape if he can handle those doors. Then you mention you’re going to wait for the young guys to show up. Those side mount motors are all the rage right now here in the states. Nice looking door. Better be careful you don’t the door to the other home in the states by mistake. All that natural light looks good. Might interfere with the TV room right there though. Thought sometime back I’ve seen some window film that’s supposed to reinforce windows against hurricane and tornado type gusts. Now don’t hold me to it.

I used to install garage doors when I was in High School. Interesting to see all the new tech. I never installed a side motor like that on any house back then.

Very nice. I don't think you will have too much problem with high winds as your door is mostly below grade, but debris might be an issue since it is glass. I had cat 4 rated garage doors installed in my house in Florida but the house wasn't rated for those types of wind so might have been pointless anyway. I did however liked the insulated doors, but since yours are below ground you probably don't need that either. Great upgrade James.

That's a really nice garage doors James. Since we have a carport, we do have to have the clear plastic panels on top of the carport cleaned every few months. We now have a new young guy taking care of out yard. He is a really hard worker.

Nice door! I think as the door is lower than the ground level, you should not have too many issues with high winds.

Good Video, I have that Liftmaster on my house for about 5 years now and its awesome , less moving parts and quiet. I like the add on lock for extra security. How much was the door? Hope those glass panels hold up, looks nice but personally i would have opted for the hurricane rated door. Hair cut looks great, more age appropriate. Wish you and Ness the best.

The total price for the doors and installation was P240k. Expensive but seems to be the going rate for this type door in the Philippines.

They put too dark of a tint when I specifically asked for a very light shade. I'll be removing the lower section to no tint when I get time.

@@MyPIDream I got my new Windshield done with a dark 10 inch Visor tint a the Top only, I was surprised that the glass was just like the factory glass (tinted) down to the bubble pattern all around and under the rear view mirror mount. 6,500php installed and 2650php paid by the insurance company my deductible, so it less than 4k my part. Aguila Glass did a great Job.

James , Have you come across any contractor that uses Prepainted aluminium trim , like for gutters and Windows, like they have in the US and Canada?

Yes. I believe they use the term "powder coating" painting for the aluminum window frames.

Do you find a large amount of maintenance required to a house built in the tropics? We have been here 7 years in an American size home. The first metal water tank rusted after 1 year. Fibreglass with a rubber bladder now. Hinges on the shower door rusted after 5 years. Hard water deposits on 3 toilets lasted 7 years. Turns out the installers shortened screws so the tank hardware would fit. I have to chip out the hard water deposits. I’m still waiting for the water shutoff valves to fail. That is going to be tough to replace.

Install ball valves with threaded union connectors for easy replacement in the future, you can even use black PE Ball valves , compression on both ends they are pretty cheap.

There are some environmental challenges here unique to the Philippines or any tropical region. Mostly related to moisture and insects. It used to be very difficult to find quality building materials but over the 7 years living here I'm finding the market is getting better with regard to higher quality building materials but you might have to be resourceful in your search. We use a water softener as part of our 3 stage water filtration system and it helps quite a bit avoiding the water stains and hardness on bathroom/kitchen hardware.

Hi sir James, then ₱240k is the reduced price? it would have Originally been more than ₱240k if you used the Garage company’s own machine instead of your own bought Liftmaster that you prefer? What would have been original price if you used the Garage company’s own?

Although I didn't ask for a quote, a quick search for garage door operators in the Philippines shows pricing between P20k-P25k.

Hmmmmmm, kiln dried wood is good for interior use, but is a waste of time, effort, and money to use on exterior applications in the Philippines. It is much better to acclimate the wood to the environment that it will be used in prior to cutting, shaping, sanding, and finishing it.

I tried acclimating togus wood for 3 years, prior to creating 8 foot interior doors and in 2 years they still warped. I may look into kiln dried for future wood products.
