i recently bought LG 38WN95C which is the big brother of this one 144hz nano ips 600 hdr 1ms 3840x1600p 24:10 8bit and 10 bit and the features of this LG 38WN95C is surprising nobody talked about in reviews i found about it when i bought it the monitor have antialiasing and sharpening and super resolution thats just incredible for gaming monitor
You can also right click on the desktop, click nvidia control panel and under display/change resolution you can change the refresh rate right from there =)
Would you recommend this for a productivity set up. If I wanted to get rid of several monitors and be able to do video/photo editing and gaming. I know the color is pretty good on this panel, but have you been overall satisfied on your day to day experiences.
Yes, absolutely. The only complaint I would have about it is that shutting the screen off will kill power to my MacBook through the USB-C port, Thus sending it into sleep mode. So I have to just keep the Screen Saver running to get around that.
Hey, Dan, about one year later, just wondering if the LG38WN95C-W is still your favourite monitor. I’m about to buy one of those, unless you have “discovered” a better Option. Btw, thanks a lot for your compelling review ✊🏼
At 4:53 you mentioned that the Macbook can only do 75Hz over USB-C. I have a 2017 Macbook Pro 13" and 2017 Macbook 12" - if both of my laptops can't do over 75Hz, should I get the previous model LG 38wk95c instead? I mainly use my monitor for productivity (currently do not own a gaming PC but may consider at some point in the future).
I see that monitor does 60hz vs the 75hz on this one. Not a big difference if your just doing productivity. But if you are considering gaming, I would recommend the WN95C. The 144hz is so smooth. I plan on keeping this one for some time. I actually do wish my Macbook would do the full 144hz but whenever I upgrade my Mac in the future, it will do just that!
It's insane that it's sold out everywhere! I'm trying my luck with the "business version" 38BN95C, it's the same monitor but with the power saving setting set to HIGH to appease Energy Star regulations. For others looking, Provantage has it up for $1144. They are supposed to finally get it in stock later this month, but YMMV! Thanks for sharing your experience, even if it was used. Maybe LG support can hook you up with a TB3 cable replacement.
www.costco.com/lg-ultragear-38%22-class-ultrawide-wqhd-curved-ips-g-sync-compatible-gaming-monitor.product.100671950.html This the the Gamer Version the 38GN950 only costco sells it for now
@@K2d4network Thanks. I''m on a M1 Mac so that is later version. Not getting higher than 60Hz over thunderbolt. Might have to use USB C to Displayport to get it which takes away the use of the extra ports on the back. So there is compromises to make. Any way thanks for the response
Yeah same I’m able to get that too but have decided to keep it at 60hz because when using the 75hz option the ability to turn on HDR vanishes. I only noticed this as I couldn’t find HDR till I went back to 60Hz. Found this in a review The LG 38WN95C-W has an outstanding refresh rate. It has native FreeSync support, and it's certified by NVIDIA to be G-SYNC compatible too. You can achieve the 144Hz refresh rate and get G-SYNC support only over a DisplayPort connection. Over HDMI, the VRR range is limited to 48-75Hz, and it only supports FreeSync. So maybe get a Thunderbolt (USB C) to display port cable capable of doing it if you want 144Hz but I think you will lose the use of the USB ports on the back if you do (I think). Plus not sure if this is possible on M1 mac
@@K2d4network both would be great! trying to decide on upgrading my dell 32" but vertical height is important to me as I work on a lot of word documents and I don't have the desk space to keep both.
