MREs are for the ones who are in the field and have been starving and NEED a lot of sugar, carbs and cals for energy. It’s not just for nothing. I like the idea of the “healthy” MREs..but I would rather eat my jalapeño cheese spread on my cardboard bread than “apple chips”

Honestly! I've never been in the military or in combat but I have gone backpacking with 35 lbs on my back and the amount of calories you burn is ridiculous. I can't even imagine how many calories you burn with 50 - 100 lbs on your back with the adrenaline dump of combat. I'd rather take calories over nutrition any day of the week.
The pink one is a humanitarian daily ration. It has about 2200 calories. One pack Comes with two entries and the snacks that go with them. All for the low cost of 4 dollars. Compared to his NRE, that costs 35 dollars.
When people are eating MRE’s (usually soldiers) they don’t give two fucks about how many calories they take because they’re just going to burn it the same day through the extensive workouts and movement they do.
Bro doesn’t realize that MREs one last forever and two are designed to have high calorie high nutrient food in a small package. Like bro open a real brown MRE that we take to the field.
Reality is a expectation date is just a date to have it sold by. Anything can go back before or even after the expiration date. Stores typically use them as a indicator of when they should take them off the shelf.
MRE's are designed to give soldiers a quick source of calories as well as give them a morale boost. They don't need to lose weight or gain muscle on a mission, they need to stay alive. They already burn a fuck ton of calories That's why they need the bolstered calorie content
mre is high in calorie bc most of the time when youre in a situation where you need a bunch of calories you would want that id take an mre vs some stupid nre tbh
One the ng you forgot, MREs are designed to last and pump you full of calories and suger for energy right there for combat not long term effects of nutrients but energy

I met the team that makes these in Nevada when I was working on the governors race. They were rad and were proud of what they do. Not the best on price, but the best on value. I order from them whenever I have the spare income to do so. Highly recommend.
Would you like to realize is the reason why it consists of junk food is because soldiers need the high amounts of calories from the junk food to eat maintain their energy the reason why it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day it’s because they’re burning so many calories throughout the day that they could legitimately eat whatever and it’s still fine as well as still get nutrition from it like protein and carbohydrates
this is the difference between hipsters and warriors. They pack MRE’s full of carbs and sugar for energy for duded going out and ground pounding. That NRE thing is made for suburban dads to take fishing. Lol
If you’re in a field environment and actually burning calories the kind of food doesn’t matter at that point. Plus the sodium in the snacks is there for water retention.
While nutritionally vacant in some respects, the high simple carbs of an MRE serve a purpose. Are they something to live off of long-term? No, but they'll ensure you have plenty of energy for the scenarios in which an MRE is the only food option.
It's not for nutrition. You can burn 3000-6000 calories (or even more) in a single day of combat. If you stuck to nutritionally sound and low carb/lower calorie options, you'd end up making your force lethargic under intense combat.
But being that you exercise regularly and literally do a love rigorous labor in the military, you would need high carbs and calories and why the MRT comes in to play
10 bucks says it's like 5% less sugar and thats it. All that "healthy food" is just sugary food with coconut flavour or almond to make you feel like your eating healthy.
This is the MRE for the soft generation, traditional MREs are for dudes who are gonna burn those calories. Your average grunt just doing an FTX will on average burn anywhere from 8-12000 calories a day. The soylent package you have ain't gonna cut it.
?? They are meant to be high calorie, quick acting carbs. It's the same concept as an olympic swimmer chowing down pizza because he's burning thousands of calories a day.
