This was sn amazing watch. And as someone whose favourite comic book character is Nightwing, I want to thank you for not making Deathstroke a Batman villain as some people are trying to do in recent years. He will always be Dick Grayson's nemesis to me.
THANK YOU!! In recent years, both Green Arrow and Batman have tried to claim Deathstroke as "their" villains but to me he should be a Titans or Nightwing villain first
@@yendorspades I have absolutely no clue how real pitches work haha or else I totally would! Happy you enjoyed it though, maybe someday we'll get something similar on the big screen!
Watching this reminded me of something I'm grateful about in regard to Nightwing. I like that in the post Crisis On Infinite Earths comics, which is finding a way to keep Superman tied to The identity of Nightwing. Pre Crisis Superman told Batman and Robin about a birdlike Kryptonian creature called Nightwing and when Robin decided to step away from that role, he designed his new costume to honor Batman and took the name Nightwing to honor Superman.
@@peteallen8420 I've always loved the connection between Superman and Nightwing and wanted to make sure I included Superman being a big part of Dick's story
James Gunn recently mentioned Bludhaven on a podcast so there's hope we may see Nightwing. Maybe not a whole trilogy but maybe a solo movie/tv show/titans movie. Also, him being dead in the DCEU was my main reason to support the burial of that universe.
this video is a MASTERPIECE. nightwing is one of, if not my absolute favorite superhero... ever, and you write with so much passion and respect towards the character. my only minor nitpicks are everyone in the trilogy knowing dick's identity without him revealing it & the lack of babs/batgirl as shes lowkey integral to his bringing up, but again, other than that - absolute masterclass at a character arc coming full circle.
@@lightningjules658 Glad you enjoyed it so much! Babs was in an early version of Part 2 but I just couldn't make it work as well as I would have liked so I went in a different direction
the mentor relationship between Slade and Grayson is so rich for story telling. might have dragged it out between two movies and made Deathstroke the ultimate enemy. ether way I would watch these movies 300%
This "movie" trilogy was genuinely 10x better than the stuff DC's been putting out recently, I absolutely love the faithfulness to Dixons run and using death stroke cuz hes fr nightwings true nemesis (prolly same goes for titans) despite lots of people trying to twist him into a batman or an arrow villain (the cw-verse).
@@Kidapollo92 I actually did consider doing Jason in Part 3 as an adaptation of Battle for the Cowl but went in a different direction. And a Green Arrow movie pitch video is certainly something I've considered...........
If I was doing a Nightwing show in the vain of daredevil then I’d have blockbuster season 1, red hood season 2 that’s way more personal having Jason remain a villain hellbent on destroying and messing with dick until he is somewhat able to come to his senses at the end of the show and leaves and travels the country to truly find himself becoming kind of like reacher. And then I’d have deathstroke for season 3
I actually considered Jason at one point for Part 3 and do a version of the Battle for the Cowl storyline! But I just couldn't figure out a way to set it all up naturally without certain pieces feeling really shoehorned in
@@UnchartedMedia you could play it 2 ways. Jason as red x and never reveal his identity to Grayson or keep him as a villain throughout a in theory Batman: red hood movie and after it and have him go to blue haven to fuck with dick or something. I prefer the idea of red hood after failing to fuilfil his plan he goes to blue haven to try and “save” that city or something
@@jonathanhill3668 My original plan was always going to be Deathstroke in Part 2 but Batgirl would have been involved, trying to convince Dick to reunite with Bruce. Part 2 would have ended with the revelation that Bruce has died. Part 3 would have been a version of Battle for the Cowl with Dick and Jason fighting over the mantle. I dropped it because that's a lot of elements to introduce and I didn't know how to do naturally and not feel shoehorned
@@JW-ze1yh I hadn't really given much thought about that actually haha. I more did the Cavill thing as fan service for myself but if there were a way to make Affleck work I'd say cool!
Dude that was absolutely stunning! I had an entire movie playing throughout my head the whole way out, from the background to the casting and who would make great composer music for the trilogy. Dont know if you put much thought to it... but you should definitely start a series where you pitch trilogies for other DC characters that'd be neat.
@@alexiscampbell6231 I certainly do have some ideas for some other DC characters I'd love to do pitches for (granted they probably won't be as labor intensive or extensive just because I have a special love for Nightwing). The only thing with that is they take a long time to make naturally, from making sure the story is up to my standards and editing and whatnot. So long story short, I do want to do more, they just take a while
Love it, but why no Teen Titans movie/show? It would help the impact of the 2nd film imo with Jericho. Although the audience would know from the get go Slade was going to betray Nightwing.
@@blueNyellow I like that idea but here's the two reasons why I didn't include the Titans. I really wanted to focus on Dick's story and I know that character as an individual better than I know him as a team member. Secondly, I wanted to avoid having too many characters. I'm not a professional writer by any stretch so the prospect of lots of characters logically making sense kinda scares me. So that's why all three parts don't actually have that many characters, to simplify as much as possible. Hope that helps, but if you want we could have a full fledged flashback scene with the Titans!
@@UnchartedMedia totally understand. Simple is better when it comes to fleshing out characters, and with a team like the Titans? Could be too much for a film, that's why I think a series would work better. But a scene would be amazing. Maybe just the death of Jericho, or Dick leaving the team. Maybe a moment between Kori and him after failing Jericho, Dick feels responsible and leaves the team. Idk. I love what you did man. Also good voice acting.
@@blueNyellow I can definitely see a scene with Jericho dying in action working in a flashback scene! And thanks! I'm no voice actor by any means so I appreciate the kind words!
Although I loved seeing your pitch, I would have loved for it to include Barbara Gordon because Dick and Barbara is one of my favourite relationships in all of comics. Plus I would have loved have seen Tim Drake have a role because I love his repertoire with dick.
@@The_Phantasm There was actually an early draft that I had for Part 2 where it was both Barbara and Dick fighting together to take down Slade. But, to be honest, I'm not super confident in my romantic storytelling so I took that out to focus solely on Dick's story. But Barbara was definitely considered at one point and would have been a driving force in getting Dick and Bruce to reconcile
