For me, the appeal of the Great Devourer and the Preeminent is the fact that they don’t have personalities. They are forces of nature that can’t be reasoned with and have a lot of destructive power behind them, making them all the deadlier.
I agree and I was surprised when I found out they are both females. Because I thought they were guys. But I was wrong. But either way both of them are very good villains.
Pythor was always my favorite as a kid because he was never really gone. Once he was swallowed by the devourer I thought he was dead, and 10 year old me went nuts when he revealed himself in Rebooted. Then I thought he got eaten by Zane’s falcon, but nope. He’s in kryptarian prison, and back for season 4 and Day of the Departed. And even now he’s still lurking out there, ready for another comeback.
Yes pythor is really good villain (my favorite) and he never turns into good because he is a snake and i like that. 🐉😈 garmadon have the emotions but pythor no, so pythor the best❤️🐍
Love your list, however I reckon Pythor was a perfect villain. He always seemed very calculated and to me, was the most cunning character. He tricked Lloyd into releasing him, United the tribes, released the devourer, saved the Overlord from being wiped completely and on top of all that, he never actually died. He always seemed to survive somehow. After being imprisoned practically alone, with no food (cuz we saw all the other Anacondrai had died in the tomb), swallowed by the devourer and chased by the Falcon, he still managed to live through everything
@@zakariakhaled4339 yea, tho im surprised that pythor was the last one standing, would that mean that pythor was like THE anacondrai? the one who would rightfully control the rest
@@foethefox793 Not necessarily. He may have been the strongest out of all the lower ranking ones, but the generals, remember, were banished to the cursed world for being viewed responsible for the war
Fugi-Dove was an amazing villain, great backstory, perfect character arc, and an amazing rivalry with Jay. I am honestly impressed there wasn’t a tier specially for him
Samukai is AMAZING. If he got more time he would have been as iconic as Pythor. His character, strength, abilities, backstory had so m in potential. Loved also his betrayal of Garmadon and the clips of his backstory before the Pilot Season.
Nadakan is arguably my favorite villain. He’s surprisingly likable and very compelling. He isn’t just some power mad wacko, he’s lost everything and he wants it back. And he doesn’t care who gets hurt in order for him to get there. Plus, despite being arguably the most powerful character in the entire show, Nadacan is actually quite vulnerable. He is incredibly manipulative but he himself is vey emotionally unstable. The only reason Nadacan was able to take everyone down so easily was because no one could outplay him. Not even Zane. That makes him possibly the smartest villain in the show as well as the most powerful. His only weakness is his feelings. Nadacan dose have a hart witch makes him vulnerable.
I love him but I don’t really think he’s that sympathic he never wanted to beat the ninja for revenge he wanted to do it for power he’s saying he’s doing it for revenge but deep down he only cares about himself
In my opinion I would have put Pythor and Morro in the Perfect Section, but that's just my opinion. And I would not have included the Keeper Chief due to the fact that he's not really a villain and he's just trying to stop people from summoning Wojira.
Hot take: Morro is in a league of his own. In my opinion, what sets him apart from Garmadon is that what happened to him both wasn't his fault and was the adverse result of well-intentioned efforts. Garmadon's corruption, as revealed in Crystalized, was always intended to serve a greater purpose. And, as demonstrated in "The Green Ninja," in "Rise of the Serpentine," he was willing to ignore seemingly-rational logic to achieve his ultimate goal. In contrast, in "Winds of Change," Morro chose to push the Ninja away when they were between him and Master Wu, and Morro became overly aggressive only after the Ninja attacked first. Wu had once been overconfident that Morro would be the Green Ninja, and, as Morro said in the dojo way back when, "[Wu] made me believe!" In short, per Master Wu and Morro's dialogues in "Curse World, Part 2," "I trained you to be a Ninja who protects, not one who destroys!" "You made me believe I was to become the Green Ninja! Now, I am!" / "You are all my prized pupils, but none of us can do this alone... take my hand, so we can be stronger together." "You can only save those who want to be saved."
I find Morro done very poorly His backstory is just covered in 1 episode and he barely interacts with any of the ninja He had a cool concept but the execution was lacking
Imo Morro genuinely made me cry. He's a villain who in the end had a change of heart and kind of sacrificed himself. Makes him my favourite. I like Skales a lot too, garmadon is obviously perfect just like the overlord. The only one I entirely disagree with is Harumi because I absolutly hate her and she's basically just an edgy girl. She reminds me of my edgy original characters from when I was 10 hahaha.
I would to but imo this is mostly when they were bad guys I'd say morro, pythor, and maybe harumi would totally be in perfect if they're redemption was noted but because it wasn't they kinda suffer from it same with scales
Kalamaar is my favorite season exclusive villain. Dude had the balls to not only kill his own father but brought back wojuira and even flooded ninjago city and almost won
Some of my favorite villains, personally, is Harumi, Morro (for some reason I always have to put them together in almost every teir list), and Garmadon. Even though I perfer Garmadon on the good side in his evil form (like his position in Season 1, that was my favorite), as long as you can tell he loves his son, then I love him, which is part of why I hated him a lot in Seasons 8 and 9 (even though there were some moments), he just doesn't feel like the Garmadon I know and love if he doesn't show at least some love of his son. Honestly (this may seem off topic, but my brain went here), I could care less if Misako loves Wu over Garmadon, as long as Lloyd and Garmadon care about each other in a father-son way, I am happy. As for Morro and Harumi, I just like their change of heart right before they died. For Harumi, I liked her change of heart not because if Llorumi, but because she realized she was wrong, and basically apologized. That is also why I love Morro's change of heart, I just like villains like that, I guess (or maybe Morro and Harumi are just more special to me for some reason which I may or may not know). Anyway, I hope they are happy in the Departed Realm and I hope Harumi managed to find her parents, with or without help. So yeah, there are my reasons, I guess
@@funderscore Yeah. Let's just say I am less than impressed at her return. No wait, let me correct that. I am SUPER worried about what her return will bring. I REALLY hate that she returned. I just hope that whatever they do makes sense
Morro is the best but Harumi not. Harumi's motivation they are childish and her background too cliché for me. Harumi is not manupalutive like Pythor, she is emotinal and no thinker, impulsive ( like Morro). Resurrect Garmadon is too for me. And Garmadon accept her like children no sense for me. I don't like Harumi, i love Pythor, Nadakhan or Morro. 🇫🇷
She had a good backstory being the victim of the great devourer’s attack in ninjago city and eventually became an orphan. She reminds me of the mcu version of helmut zemo since there both victims of a deadly attack that caused them to lose everything
Honestly, for me, Sales would be much higher. He goes from some random troublemaker in the background of his own tribe to the leader of all the serpentine tribes and has a beautifully subtle redemption arc. I really do and don't wish the show would do something with the serpentine, I love them in the background and would like more content around them but if they were made the focus the brighter would have to make them do something like you can write 16 episodes of "What are the serpentine doing?" and show them actually trying to be a functional kingdom like ordinary people. sometimes I wish Ninjago wasn't a kid's show, which absolutely required action battle scenes just to keep kids watching just so there could be more subtle dialogue drama. If I was writing my dream season I don't think I would even put in a proper villain it would basically be all dialogue and what a normal day actually looks like for the ninga. For my action sequences, they would be training sessions and sparing I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO SEE MORE SPARING! and if I absolutely had to do a villain I would probably do succession drama in the serpentine, like maybe bring back Esfira just because I don't really want to make more characters and she seems like the most likely candidate to want to try for the throne. in conclusion, Skales is best sparing is good and this comment got way too long.. . :)
i would love to see more of witch doctor aciticus and the russi-i I mean the fangpire it is always fun to see them as background characters I remember when the tournament of elements came out I thought it was awesome that Kai ranked number 1 in the slither pit and that it was a legitimate topside game that kind of blend is what we do need to see more of and would be cool to focus a season around something like that
Nadakhan and the overlord (if you're combining S2 and S3) are probably the best villains in terms of threat and success, with S1-2 Garmadon being up there too.
In terms of success Harumi would win considering that she brought back a Garmadon that didn’t care for Lloyd for an entire 2 and a half seasons. Beating the overlords record. And Nadakhan just had one season, making him a one time villian like normal. Oh and the fact that Harumi is still alive causing Lloyd trouble currently at the same time the overlord is just matches the amount of damage they’ve done equally, except Harumi does it specifically to hurt Lloyd.
This list is a very accurate list. The only different opinion that I have is that morro is up one tier for me and acronix is a bit higher in the a-tier. I love the planning and cunningness that morro showed along with the level of power he had taking the ninjas elemental powers and taking a spinjitsu master captive at the same time. Acronix was also a very interesting and funny villian and I always enjoyed watching him babble on about the beauty of modern tech to his ancient brother. Great list all else considered. 8.8/10
I'm quite offended that you would classify 'young' Lloyd as a villain. He didn't have a father for most of his childhood, his mother abandoned him; he was pretty much an orphan. Then he got kicked out the door by the 'Boarding School for Bad Boys,' making him homeless. At the end of the day, Lloyd was a lonely little kid looking for a friend.
I’d probably put the time twins both at decent because they really didn’t interest me that much and I’d swap Morrow and the Overlord because he is my favorite villain
You should also include evil Cole (who was briefly hypnotized) as well as evil PIXAL (who briefly came under the control of the overlord and the sons of garmadon).
I think evil Cole would be around either meh or bad pixel being meh or decent depending on how you look at it they weren't exactly the best when they were on screen but are honorable mentions
honestly I totally would agree if she didn't have as big of a psychological impact on Lloyd for me that's the only reason she's as good as she is that and for what I like to call chapter 2 of ninjago where it became more kid friendly she definitely does hit that mark not close to garmadon but good enough to be higher up the tier list
For Season 17 or 18 The Rich Billionaire/ Master of Force should get the ultimate villain leaders of fighting Ninjago as clones, which includes: Overlord, Nadakhan, Acronix, Krux, Lord Garmandon, Iron Baron, The Omega, Vex (New Ice Emperor), Unagami, Kalmaar
Morro and Harumi together are the two best Ninjago villains. Besides that this list is pretty good. But seriously Morro’s writer is such a godly story writer and Harumi is just so cruel and manipulative she’s probably actually worse than the overlord!!! And actually ronin too! If you’re counting shadows of ronin he is an a tier bordering s but if not he’s a b tier antagonist bordering a tier.
I would say The Ice Emperor (Zane) should belong in the perfect category, considering he took over one of the most dangerous realms know to existence and that if he held the scroll of forbidden spinjitzu even longer, The Ninja combined would have a realy hard time stopping him since he grrows stronger and stronger by the second he holds the staff
I hope with the Spinjitzu Brothers books we get a glimpse into them battling Alive!Samukai, it'd be interesting to see how he got four-arms and how Garmadon and Wu defeated him. Poor Vermillion Generals, they're so funny and like arguing siblings to me. But a well thought out tier list.
i think nadakhan is one of the most powerful dangerous & powerful villain's in ninjago.. because when you think about it.. the ninja could NOT beat him.. and jay had to use his last wish to reset the timeline & make it so nadakhan's lamp was never found.
Nadakhan is probably the best villain, because of how powerful he really was and how he achieved every goal he wanted, manipulated the ninja thru only his words one by one taking them down and the motivation he got from his worlds destruction. Season 6 painted him really well too.
I’d put Harumi in the perfect section. I love her motivations and how it kind of acknowledges a darker part of Ninjago and in general how she tricked and toyed with Lloyd
my most favorites are garmadon and overlord. garmadon is such a 3 dimensional character despite being at face value "blindly evil." the overlord's concept is amazing and I love everything about him.
for me it would be: Garmadon, Overlord, Nadakhan & Time Twins, i love Morro and all but when i think about it on pair with them he's not as good but still a lovable character
personally, i think aspheera was a really good character-one of the ONLY villains to be able to use spinjitsu, and she can also steal elemental powers.
My favorites villains are : Lord Garmadon, the Great Devourer, Fangtom, Kozu, the Overlord, Morro, Clancee, Harumi, Aspheera, General Vex, Boreal,Grief Bringer and Wojira
The thing I loved about Kalmaar is just how fucking vicious he is. He mercilessly sink ships and slaughter his crew. For no reason, he hates the people of the surface world for simple prejudice, and when the king opposed his plan he fucking guns him down in cold blood.
My probably top 3 best atm: Ronin (as an overall character), Morro, Nadakhan. And in the other hand top 3 worst: Ultra Violet, Machia, The new annoying girl character in season 15.
Not trying to change any opinions or anything, but I kinda feel that a lot of the explanations are contradicting. I don’t think motivations should be taken to account in this tier list when some characters who don’t have motivations aren’t criticized in this regard while other characters are criticized for not having motivations. It seems like this tier list is mainly judging screen presences of characters rather than motivations, so I don’t see the point in discussing motivations here.
Alright, gonna be straight here. Favorite Villains in order: S2 & S3 Overlord, S1 & S2 Garmadon, Great Devourer, Pythor, and Nadakhan. And here’s my reaoning for each of them from least to most favorite: (*Large Inhale*) Nadakhan was the first main villain that didn’t have ANY ties to Wu, Garmadon, Lloyd, or the First Spinjitzu Master, whom I’ll just call the Garmadon Family. He was one of the most calculative villains in the entire series, his downfall being brought about by the fact that he’s a djinn. His story was also rather compelling, a man who lost everything, his love, his family, his whole dimension, and now he doesn’t want power or revenge or anything, he just wants to get back what was taken away from him. That being said, he’s still a little lackluster in my opinion. He was the villain of season 7, and instead of thinking “oh no, how will the Ninja beat him now?” I thought “Oh look, here’s more for the Ninja to have to jump over in order to beat him.” He’s an amazing villain, but he came around too late to be properly threatening. Pythor, now that's a villain with a proper story arc. I haven't watched ALL of Ninjago, but I will say, Pythor is easily one of the best villains, and one of the best characters throughout the ENTIRE thing. In season 1, he always stayed one step ahead of the Ninja, going nearly undefeated until his fateful 'death' at the hands of Big Mommy Devourer (Yes, the Great Devourer is female), but then coming back in season 3, now with a cool-ass white look. He still kicked ass, right up until he swallowed the shrinking pill meant for Golden Overlord. From then until he grew back into his own size, he wasn't really seen that much, and that's as far as my knowledge goes sadly. Pythor was cruel, manipulative, and easily the smartest villain in the show. Dude's a complete snake, literally and figuratively. What to say about Big Mommy Devourer? Well, that's easy. The Devourer isn't a traditional villain since she throws the power-hungry or cold and manipulative villain style out the fricking window, then swallows the building she was in. She was less of a villain and more of an unstoppable force of nature, swallowing everything she could and were it not for the Ninja, the Ultra-Dragon, and Garmadon working together to outsmart her, since she is basically just an animal, she probably could've eaten the entire planet given enough time. Oh boy, Early Garmadon. The Poster-Villain of the series. I love him because he's the complete opposite of the Ninja, and of Wu, and it shows completely well. The Ninja are heroic, helping those in need, but even they can be worn down and annoyed. Garmadon is evil, terrorizing those who are unable to stop him, but even he loves and cherishes his son. He was either in the shadows, manipulating everything from below (Pilot reference), or he was directly in the fray, putting the Ninja on their rear ends and laughing at them while doing so. He was Evil personified, but he was still a human underneath it, a loving father and a caring husband. If only the more recent one wasn't "ha ha, bad guy" I probably would've kept up with the series. And now, my favorite villain, Early Overlord. Dude was legit TERRIFYING. His Stone Army slapped around the Ninja like they were paper bags, his plans were thought out 12 steps in advance, with a back up plan to the back up plan. He took full control over Ninjago TWICE, which is something that no other villain has done. Hell, he caused actual character death just so he could come back later. Were it not for Garmadon usually flubbing his plans, The Golden Power, and Zane, The Overlord would've just won outright in the SECOND OR THIRD SEASON. I think the biggest draw though, was his unreal design. In the entire series before and after, every single character (minus beasts like Dragons or the Great Devourer) was LEGO designed. Lego arms, Lego hands, Lego heads. The Overlord meanwhile? First form, floating energy ball. Second form, Bipedal Dragon Garmadon. Third form, GIANT F***ING DRAGON. Then, he becomes a virus, then a mass of dust and gas within the digital world, then a weird slime-goo thing, then became a BUILDING SIZED ARMORED DEMONIC WARLORD. He was just terrifying. My thoughts on the new design, motives, powers, etc? I think they suck. He looks like a clown now, his powers are idiotic, I haven't seen enough of him to know his motives, but I also know they made him an idiot. He completely forgot that the Island of Darkness and Dark Matter exists. He could've just made a new Stone Army since it was basically unbeatable. I will say, the new seasons have their merits. But it feels like there's no continuity between Seasons 1-8, and the rest.
For me it would be morro, garmadon, time twins, and Chen and maybe scales and pythor in the perfect section too. Generally I think morro is the best because it’s the way he is executed, he’s the guy who never was. He’s the guy who thought he could but couldn’t. Chen pythor and scales are just generally funny characters, they can be serious at times and just be funny at others. Garmadon is a classic, you gotta respect the first generation. The time twins are really iconic to me, it was the last season that I watched when I truly loved ninjago still, not saying that I don’t, it’s just the last season where I would binge watch every time a season came out, that’s why I would put them into the perfect section. Thanks for reading this. It took a while to write.
