Hi Guys great video and great job. I am looking at a LWB Delica for our next life adventure. turn 75 in May, had a Toopcarrier, 80 series, and off road caravan, had a Patrol and serious off road camper trailer last big trip after I retired was 15000Ks over 4 months. ready to take it a bit easier these days so going to buy a Delica LWB and set it up myself, like your layout think it would suite us to a tee. we spent 5 years on the road around Oz back from 2000 thought we would do it before we got to old. but still at it. thanks again for your great work keep it up.
Thank you for this video tour. This has to be one of the best kit outs i have seen... and I have seen alot after overlanding north and central America before having to return to NZ because of covid. Look foward to seeing this on the road.
Nice job. You can hang shower curtains from the tailgate ( I used magnetic hooks ) & with a rechargeable shower you’ve got a wash room. Could even heat the water by leaving a container on the roof rack.
Brilliant build, I've got the same year as you and it's a beast offroad and on that note I'd highly suggest getting a bashplate preferably a T0me one. The stock one may as well be made of cardboard and in all of mitsubishi's wisdom they put not only the oil filter but the sump right where a rock would punch a hole in it. So if you're planning to take it offroad please get one.
keep going mate i want to see a winch, raised suspension, a limited slip diff, some transmitter gear inside, ariels on the outside. and 32 inch tyres on 15 inch rims, turbo reliese taps, and a diesel pump adjuster for a 14kw increase. dont forget the ladder
Great video and job well done. Normally I am a keen watcher of your hunting vids but as I have just bought a 2000 Delica 2.8 4wd I was keen to see your conversion. I will also do a camper conversion and will be happy if I can do as good a job as you have done.
its good... i like....simple and praktical....i bild same car up to 2 years for long way trips and light off road....litle different concept....helo from Latvia.............
Hi Mate, love this fit-out, and really enjoyed the walkthrough. Just wondering how you blanked off the rear A/C unit, planning on doing a similar fit-out. Cheers.
Might be a good idea to add freewheel hubs on the front if you are off-roading, allows you to disconnect the front shaft incase you snap one off when off-roading as the shaft still has to turn in 4WD or not. They literally take an hour to fit max.
Is it a good idea having the hoses under the water tank exposed if you're going to be doing some 4WD'ing? Perhaps some type of of bashing plate to protect them?
Absolutely mint bro. I’m working on my 80series land cruiser to make it fully off grid. At the mo it carries and sleeps all 6 of us. Just need to add water tanks and solar then we’re sorted.
@@Fiordlandboys here ya go mate here’s a wee trip we did recently. I’ve since put in a third auxiliary battery since that trip. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IoEo5WSlF-U.html
Love the build mate! Seems like you opted not to go for self contained as I didn't see any mention of a toilet. I was curious if you ended up certifying it self contained and if so, what's your plan with the new fixed toilet rule coming into effect? Cheers!
Congrats mate, one of the best Delica builds I have seen. Are the front solar panel mounts bolted straight through the roof? What would you estimate the cost for the whole build? Thanks for sharing!
Hi Tyraus, i rivited the soloar panel to roof useing L shaped plates i brought from mitre 10...waterproofing with sika flex....cost of build around $8000 cheers mate
Excellent build tour thanks. Have the same wagon, just sorting mechanicals then onto interior camper conversion. Bought all componentry for fit out so time only issue now. Where did you buy your grey and fresh tanks? Nice heads in background!
That’s great, you must be a carpenter or cabinet maker? There is a bloke here in Australia decking out his on RU-vid too. He’s put a shower head in the tailgate so he left the back door and there’s a shower setup.
Why did you keep the step bumpers? They only lower your overall clearance. Also why do you keep a LPG bottle exposed the sun. You're in Aussie with hot weather, so that's a bit dangerous as its better to keep LPG tanks out of the sun. Nice van though!
badass... you might like to squirt some doggie be good spray around the perimeter of the boxy tent room.... i ride a razor scooter around.. junkyard style dogs don't come near when you piss a little pepper spray on the ground in front of them.. non lethal is less likely to have the owner pull his AK... dbg direct contact one time so i know it works dang well a sparker discouraged a bull .. no contact necessary
You said words to the effect of “it will go anywhere” - however - two crucial things here - side steps don’t appear to be rock sliders and will limit clearance a lot ? The rear bar and towbar looks like it will hang you up in 30 seconds. Not even medium tracks look like they would damage this ?
Safety is abit of an issue here as the driver might get crushed by all the cabinets if a rear collision occurs, i do like the water tank on the underside of the vehicle tho, keeps it more stable rather than having it on the top.
The 2.8 diesel is best for pulling a trailer. The 2.5 is a bit underpowered. Just helped a friend get a 3 litre petrol 6 cylinder Delica 2003 which is even better. Heaps of torque and power for pulling a trailer. The petrol motors are much cheaper to repair ($300 for a petrol fuel pump compared to $3000 for a diesel fuel pump). Also diesel fuel is going up in price.
Hey I also have the same green 1st gen 3 doors RAV4. I don't have Delica but I do own green Pajero Mini. Btw does anyone know what is the towing capacity for the 2.8 diesel engine Delica? Thinking of importing one.
14.5V for LA gel battery seems little to high to me. Its good for flooded type (14.2 - 14.6V), even acceptable for AGM (14.7 - 14.8V). You should not go above 14.1V or the gel starts to degrade. It will make your very expensive battery to be very cheap and useless quite soon. Anyway, all up to you....
If anyone could tell me if this is a lwb or not I would really appreciate it. Looking at buying one this week and if this is a lwb I might need to look more because this build is perfect for me and my partner!
@@Fiordlandboys still working on it. I’ll PM so some pictures. It’s a 2018 Ford Transit. 80 litres fresh water, 48 grey water, external gas shower... so much more!
