Tom, this was a nice review and a really good video. I had to resort to peacoats and flatcap during winter after I started working in a corporate office that had a more formal dress code, I could get away with the "casual end" of business casual before that when I used to work in tech. The only complaint I have for peacoats and the like over parkas are it limits movement in the car while driving, especially in the seat area. This channel is underrated and I hope it grows more.

Last time I checked these peacoats were a 75/25 wool/nylon blend. I bought one in Russia and wore it every winter while I was there for four years. It was awesome for everything from +5 down to -20 degrees C. If I ever go back there and wear it out I'll buy another one for sure. The wool/nylon blend increases the durability of the coat with minimal impact on the warmth so I was happy to get a blend. The only thing I'd change would be to take it to a competent tailor and get the body altered for a tighter fit around the body. The shoulders were a great fit for me though. All in all it proved to be a great purchase in my case.

Ive been wearing mine for 7 years and it's the best jacket there is... i still get compliments on it. May need to buy a new version of it next year though and I've worn through all the pocket linings.

Wore mine for 20 years and recently gave it to my nephew. I replaced the side pockets, and had the buttons tightened up once, other than that, the coat is still rocking. I purchased mine at a Burlington Coat Facory back in 2004 for around $150. I picked up a more fitted replacement now that my nephew is running around in my old one.

Got this coat for Christmas and have been enjoying it this winter season. The only thing that has bothered me about it is the plastic buttons. They feel somewhat flimsy and may easily break off at some point. Another thing about them is that I notice that they get scratched up pretty quickly too.

This is a “forever” jacket. It will never go out of style. Like a motorcycle jacket. Or a denim Levi’s trucker jacket. I consider it appropriate for all ages. Schott’s MC jacket is amazing quality as well.

Paul & Shark make great Peacoats expensive but worth it.

Great video. This is just what I needed. Is the fit true to size? Or should I upsize? According to website, I am size 38 but my wife thinks I should upsize to 40 in case I want to layer a thick sweater. Should I stick with the 38?

Schott makes great stuff but they don't fit me right and always seem to big. I'm a small guy and their size small peacoats just do not sit right on me. I prefer Fidelity peacoats by Gerald and Stewart. Great peacoats with a flattering form. Definitely not as a warm as a Schott but they fit me better and are extremely flattering with the collar up. And yeah I agree I love big collars on peacoats! It's a must!!

Is it very water resistant? I saw an iron snail video about a WWII kersey wool peacoat and he runs it under a heavy flowing tap and the water just flows right off and doesn't soak in! Is yours black or dark navy?

From the website: Style 740 is an 80/20 wool/nylon blend. Maybe they changed the composition for new models. Could you check if yours is 100% wool, please?

Make yourself a favor ; go to some military surplus and buy the authentic one. Very likely for a MUCH cheaper price than the Schott version. And undoubtly for a better quality.

How about sizing, do you find it fits true to size ?

Dont use a lint roller, it causes stickyness nad you will get dirty and fuzzy again faster. try a boarhair brush for that coat.
