lol! i owm a pfaff 332, and had to spend some time explaining to my husband that we were fixing my 60 year old machine, and not buying "something better," PERIOD. Your video helped me convince him we couldn't possibly buy a better machine for the money, and my efforts to become an expert in how she runs (and how to fix her when she fails me) is worth the time. Thanks!

Hi Tove, I'm glad my videos were compelling enough to turn your husband's thinking, and needless to say you made the right decision...simply no comparison! All the best with your vintage beauty, and if I can be of help as you grow your knowledge of your machine, please let me know. Warm regards, Scott

Hi Bllodpack91 (Hikarushidou) - When serviced and restored to the degree that I do, that machine can easily fetch $500+ in the marketplace. To build a machine to these specs TODAY, with the same quality of materials and construction, you would see it RETAIL at about $1,400 - $1,600.

Hi Susan, There are some STRETCH style belts that will work on this machine, and they come in a variety of sizes. The width is essential, so watch for that, as well. If you can't find any near you, I may have some in my inventory.

I managed to find a motor belt for my 332 (and it fit!!) and was able to pick it up yesterday! Thought I would try some of the patterns from the pattern wheel, and guess what can't find the wheel!! I had it last week. Lots of swearing and turning out drawers. I never tried any patterns and have had the machine for about 20 years. Regards

Hi Susan, Wonderful news! I believe that's one of the longest repairs.....almost 2 years, right? I hope you find your pattern wheel, and enjoy your Swedish beauty!

Great to use it again! Found a pattern wheel for the 332 amoungst other pfaff machines, just taking ages to get here from Germany. The other I have (found it after I had ordered a new one) is a bit hard to to understand as the other machines do have knobs and dials in different places. Just hoping I can work out how to do 3 stitch zig zag. Of course having my lovely old Bernina 730 is also a dream, not to forget my old Husqvarnas.... Happy Christmas.!CowCountryVintageSewing MachinesAndRestoration

i have just watched your very good video. I have one of these machines and unfortunatly things can go wrong. My motor drive belt broke. It has been in the repairers for months. They have had trouble finding one. Even belts (made in Belguim for these older machines, haven't been any good. It is a really good machine. Still hoping to get it back. In the meantime have bought have bought some old HUsqvarnas and a lovely Bernina 730 plus a few others.........

Sorry to hear that Susan. Again, suggest they try using a STRETCH BELT, which with the tension pulley should serve you well..

I think I must have missed your helpful reply!! I will get in touch with them. Now its 1½ years! As a person with a "slight" hoarder instinct, I have been and purchased a few other old machines. None in top condition, but will gradually get repairs done. Have a wonderful Bernina 730 Record ( pattern stitches not working, I see a cracked "wheel/cog") and 4 or 5 Husqvarnas! A Singer, 2 very old Elnas and one younger Elna in plastic that I am not so keen on. But I would like my Pfaff back. Thanks again.CowCountryVintageSewing MachinesAndRestoration

Shame that mine wonderful 332 has been in " expert repair shop" for the last 7 months whilst they are trying to find a motor drive belt. Impossible. They have sent for 3-4 different kinds. Nothing fits! I miss it! Love your showing of the machine.

Hello again! As I just wrote just now about fixing my Husqvarna, I am useing my 332 again now. Soo happy. I got the card (correct one) for it only days ago, and thought I would somehow manage a 3 stitch zigzag on it, but can't. Have you ever been able to do this? It should be possible since it does stitch "side-ways". Anyone worked it out? Would be great to hear about it. Regards.

Not sure you are around to comment, i have this same machine, restored, works extremely well, just wish it had some stretch stitches and more utility stitches. I have a question, between this machine the Pfaff 332, and 2 others the Viking 21-A and a Bernina 830 Record, which would you recommend or is the best of bread of these 3 machines?
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 9 лет назад
Hi Cohill, With a dial-a-stitch card, as shown in my video, you can access 80+ stitches that should more than meet your sewing needs from a decorative and utility standpoint. A good fall back for stretch stitching is always a standard zigzag, and you get diverse outputs by simply adjusting stitch length or width. Regarding the strengths of the machines you mentioned, they all have their positive attributes. My favorite for overall versatility and strength, coupled with a sewing area due to the HUGE extended bed, are the Green Machines, such as the Husqvarna 21-A.. All the best in sewing, Scott

Looks like you missed a loop with the top thread? (The one that sits on top pf the center knob).
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 9 лет назад
Hi Arvid, Thanks for the comment about threading. Those extra loops about the CENTER knob are actually for winding a bobbin, which I didn't specifically demonstrate in this video. The ultimate test of the threading of any machine, is proper operation, and stitch quality, so don't be afraid to experiment if an owner's manual is not available, or if you can't locate an instructive video. Good sewing, Scott

Hi: I wonder if you can tell me where to find an instruction book abd stitch dial for a Pfaff 230- 160. I inhereted my mothers sewing machine but the manual and dial were missing. I would appreciate the help. Have a great day! Nekosmom:-)
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 9 лет назад
Hi Adriana, The Sswalot website should have manuals for both of these machines. I don't find a Pfaff 230-160, so I trust you were asking about two distinct machines, with the 160 being much more contemporary. Good sewing, and thank you for your questions, Scott

Hi Scott. It's Francisca again. I was wondering if you can find some other way to sell me the Pfaff stitch pattern video. I have no way to access the video here in my country. I don't even have access to see the price of it. I really want to buy either the video or the disk itself. Thank you very much again!!

Hello. I inherited a Pfaff 332 sewing machine this year and I would like to know if you sell or share the stitch pattern wheel. I've been trying to buy it unsuccesfully. The vintage stores don't send items to Chile, my country. I read that you would upload the card with each position for different embroidery and I was wondering if you had already done that magnificent job. Could I kindly request to share it with me? Thank you so much for your help.

@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 8 лет назад
+Brian Mott - Thanks for your questions, Brian! (more) I do have an embroidery stitch pattern wheel, but am not looking to sell it. The good news is that I am in the process of photographing each position of the card, and plan to make those images available as a reference tool to subscribers. Regarding an OWNER'S MANUAL, I just uploaded a copy to my DROP BOX, and the link is in the DESCRIPTION SECTION of this video, for FREE. Lastly, regarding presser feet, I do have some in my inventory, but would need to know more specifically what type of foot you're looking for. (more) Please let me know how else I can help! All the best, Scott
@brianmott728
@brianmott728 8 лет назад
+CowCountryVintageSewing MachinesAndRestoration I wanted to see all the presser feet made for the Pfaff you own. I'm not looking for any in particular. My Mom owns the 260 and it sometimes skips stitches. Would you know why?
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 8 лет назад
+Brian Mott - To clarify, I own numerous PFAFF machines, some of which are soon to be listed for sale. Each machine is allocated various attachments (feet) to create a package, and so I would need to know more specifically what type of attachment you're potentially going to use....they all have different functions and outputs. (more) The most common reason for skipped stitches is needle related. Needles can develop a barb, they can sometimes be orientated incorrectly (flat side right vs. left) and sometimes not inserted fully in the needle shaft. (more) Additionally, certain materials, such as vinyl can resist the thread movement through the material, resulting in skipped stitches. Thanks for the questions Brian, and let me know how else I can potentially help. Best regards, Scott

Hi! I just acquired a Pfaff 332 as well. Everything seems to be in working condition. However, when I try to do the combinations for the special stitches/embroidery it just gives me either the zigzag or just the plain straight stitch. Not sure if there's something broken, im not really sure. what should i do?
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 10 лет назад
Hi Jan, Are you setting all the points to generate the stitch? Do you have a fashion disk for making the settings? Thank you, Scott
@jancastillo835
@jancastillo835 10 лет назад
Hi Scott, Thanks for the response. Yes I sett all the points to generate the stitch. I believe I have the fashion stitch but I may be wrong. I looked under the hood and it seems that everything is in tacked.
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 10 лет назад
Hi Jan. Have you serviced the machine under the cover? If not, please note my remarks, below: There are a number of pivot points that have a tendency to get dry and stick, and a few drops of kerosene will lubricate and clean these areas. Remove the cover, and turn each knob to identify the action area, then lubricate and clean with a few drops of kerosene while working the knob in FULL MOTION, back and forth. Please share the results when time allows. Kind regards, Scott

Hi, I recently bought a 332 and I got a twin needle clamp with it according to the manual I'm going to need 130 B needles. But I can't seem to find needles like that anywhere. Do you by any chance know where I could get my hands on those kind of needles?(preferably online with shipping to norway) :)

Hello Friend from Norway......Regarding the twin needles you're seeking, you will find an option offered through the Schmetz Sewing needle company, also German based like your PFAFF. Below is a link for one being offered on EBay, you can also visit the Schmetz sewing needle website, or you can view a detailed .PDF under my ABOUT section on this RU-vid channel highlighting the Schmetz needle options.www.ebay.com/itm/Schmetz-130-705H-E-ZWI-Embroidery-Twin-Sewing-Machine-Needle-Size-3-0-75-/401111980355?hash=item5d64231943:g:G38AAOSwc0FUqET-Varme ønsker om lykke , god helse og mye moro som arbeider med din PFAFF 332

Okay, thanks for info ;) how can i see what type it is? i got it home from Germany right now ;) All is working and it is sewing in hard cow leather like butter, just what i was looking for ;) only thing is missing is backplate for the engine. but new service and oil and test sewingfabric cool :) I like your videos :)
@brianbojensen8961

My machine does not have that pattern dial i see it by now first, so i dont think mine can do so many stitces :( but it can sew in hard cow leather as i wanted. but it says Pfaff 332 on the side? ;) hhhmm. ok. so there are not only one 332 model.
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair
@CowCountryVintageSewingRepair 8 лет назад
Hi Brian, If your machine lacks the control dials seen in my video, located on the top and front of the machine cover, then you have a standard 332, not a 332-6. Both share equal power, but as you observed, your model has fewer stitch options. Thanks for sharing, and I'm very happy you enjoy the videos on my channel...Any ideas or suggestions, please let me know!! Best regards, Scott
