For new players the Bureau is really good to get new commanders faster than relying on the Free Commanders pack through missions. I recommend that they start the bureau and get the commanders first and eventually they can come back to the Bureau to complete the ship at later date. Getting commanders for their ships, are more important to have the quality games they will want in the long run.
PSA I said "30 days" in the video but that was WITH doubloons, without doubloons it's about 6 weeks with logging in daily and completing your daily missions. I also said "new" ships when I meant old for the Alaska, GK, Yamato, shima and a few of the older ships that do not have any gates or cost in the store.
Some further tips from someone who has completed every single Bureau Project in the game without ever spending a single doubloon to boost: - always do your Dailies. When you have both patrons and ships on a segment the Dailies will shave about 5 hours off each day, which doesn’t seem like much. But added up every day over the course of a 2 month project you’re shaving about a week off the total length. Just always do them in AI; who wants to count on Blue Team for a win in Standard 🤣 - resist the impulse to dump all your Research Points onto a project when you get them. Not only do they start to turn into credits after you stock up 3.5 million, but there’s a way to use them strategically to increase their value. Each day the Dailies reset, but they also reset when you complete the 5th and final stage of each segment. So if you wait until close to reset time and then use Points to bring a segment that would have completed after the reset back to before, you can get a whole round of bonus dailies done on each segment. It adds up, trust me. Good luck!
I save them until I find that I'm going to finish a segment while I'll be offline. I never wanted a segment to click over without me adding the fleet and patrons.
@@whereruaaron Saving them an using them in only this scenario means you’re more frequently able to double dip the dailies so you’re increasing their value (an extra 300K or so each time you do it). Also living near the cap of 3.5 million means that you’re often earning extra credits each time you would otherwise be getting research points. With Tier VIII being as expensive as it is every credit helps.
@@somebloke3869 I hear you, I get so ocd about it sitting there not doing anything. It was such a relief when they added the Bureau to the mobile version. Literally the only reason I have it is to plug things on when a segment finishes while I’m at work or away from my console 🤣
@@whereruaaron Another argument for saving them is to utilise them during segments where you don’t have the things to plug into it and speed it up. Even we players who have been around since the beginning are often missing some of the ships required or don’t have the correct dudes levelled up high enough. Those are the times you really want to be dumping in points. It requires a shift in thinking: with the ‘points per second’ nature of the Bureau the points are actually a currency of time. As I said before, on segments where you have all the dudes and the ships, 300K shaves off about 5 hours. But when you have nothing and the stage is just running its base 3 per second, investing that same 300K becomes over 27 hours worth of time! You’re taking the same amount of points and drastically increasing their value.

When I first started Legends I got obsessed with the bureau. I would switch and change when I reached a point in one project I couldn't put 100% in research I would change to a project where I could. It took me a long time to get my first ship, but now I have them all.
Was hoping you’d suggest a couple projects that synergize well for newer players. We’re gated not by time on the bureau, but by having to unlock TT ships up to tier 7/8 on multiple lines. I.e. two lines that focus US/Japan/German ships only, or just two TT if that exists. I’ve looked, but I don’t see it, but I’m sure I’m missing it. Would be great for that next video.
Spooky. I’ve been swapping them today. I was mulling it over yesterday, as I’m into month 6 of this game. *It’s a big grind for newbies!* I started many of the projects, with a view to getting the commanders for free. I’ve done them all and boxes got me a few more, just 3 to go. I’m now keen on Premium days for free, and the rank point things. The struggle is higher segments. I don’t have commanders up at rank 14, 15 etc. and there’s many ships I don’t have at higher tiers. For instance I’ve stopped at the 6th segment on Kaga, having only base points to trickle over. I worked out it will take 12 months to complete the remaining 6 segments at this rate. Assuming I login daily. It was another reason I started jumping around different projects today - something different to try. Very different doing the early segments; even if I’m missing one ship, it still completes a segment in 1 day and 3 hours; so 5.5 days for a whole segment. (9.5 weeks to grab the final ship, assuming you had the ships & commanders for each segment). I think someone did a spreadsheet on this to maximise your gains. If you’ve got the time & inclination. WG has done its usual thing. This system also preys upon human psyche, gives you an easy one to start with then the rest are a huge grind. The carrot was dangled. It’s like the shop, you are given 500 doubloons for spending 500 on a starter pack - it’s basically teaching 5 year olds how to shop. It directs you back to spending or grind - … … the grind is honest and actually ‘the game’ (to be enjoyed at any tier). And actually the final ship isn’t my goal. I’d prefer to pick a tier and wallow in it as long as I can without getting bored. Treating new tiers as a new add-on DLC.
Thank you for the video Aaron. I definitely would like to hear your thoughts on which projects are worth grinding and which are not. I started playing this game about 3-4 months ago (right before the Karl XIV Johan season for reference), and I have not completed a project yet. I am only now getting to the end of the Yamato, and I had to basically focus on getting the tier VII's that went with that bureau project to get that one as far as I have. Many others have made the point that it is a great way to start getting commanders quickly. That is what I used the bureau for initially as well, since it's impossible to get anywhere on projects without the right commanders. However long I've been playing, I still don't have all the base commanders unlocked, but should be able to get that done in the next couple weeks. A lot of the older projects only require ships up to tier VII, so those are what I, as a new player, am focusing on first (Yamato, Conqueror, Alaska). One thing I've run into now is that promotion orders for commanders are the scarcest resource. You need 2 commanders at level 15 for the last stage of each bureau, and I didn't have any above 11 before really looking at the Yamato contract. You only get like 35 promotion orders a week through challenges, but you need 150ish to get a commander past rank 12. So you have to be selective in what commanders you rank up initially if you want to focus on getting through projects quickly. I will say that I think the bureaus promote grinding all of the different lines in the game and not just the ones you want to. I had to give the Japanese cruisers (hated) and battleships (liked) a try (up to tier 7) instead of just playing the Iowa. I'm just happy WG isn't selling the Legendary tier ships for like $100 each and that's the only way to get them, because that is something they would do. Yamato took me 3-4 years approx to complete because I didn't play at all, just logged in every day. Now, I nearly completed the Kaga this summer. Sadly I don't have high enough level Commanders nor ships to boost it so the last 5 segment will be raw. Didn't looked at the challenges but I'll check it now if I have the time
Excellent video I'm a fairly new ( 2 years) player but I work 5 weeks rotation offshore so never progress the bureau as fast as I would like. When mobile became available I was happy I was going to be able to log on daily and keep the bureaus going unfortunately Internet on my ship is limited and unreliable so not an option 😢. A your top 5 projects would be excellent maybe also combining up grading commanders for the required project ( ie making sure your commanders are up to required level to place on project) and if there is more useful commanders ( which span more projects) Cheers 🍻

Burke. Sims and Swersky as inspiration. Don’t invest in Gleaves unless you have Hills or Benham. Halsey to use mortar. But then you’d have 6km+ concleament. Upgrade him later on if you’re new to the game because 6km+ concealment is more difficult to play. Cheers
I'm pretty sure I had the Montana before the Iowa. I remember my first game in it, too. Thought I would just destroy everything in my path. I think my commander might have been level 6 or 7 - might have even still been using Dewey at that point... and I had no real clue about inspirations, either. I'll let you guess how well those first games in the Monty went :).

@@bismarckgamer19 LOL, yes, it went badly. It wasn't because I didn't have a dedicated BB commander, though. Well, at least not entirely. It went badly because I really had no clue how to properly play at that level. I didn't understand proper positioning or map awareness. I was still subscribed to the "broadside is the best side" theory, thinking that because I was in such a big, powerful ship, all I had to do was get all my guns on target. I'm also pretty sure I had built the Monty up for secondaries, which is obviously not the correct build for that ship. The point Aaron's making in the video is that it is patently absurd you can have legendary ships without having to grind through the ship line to understand basic mechanics of the game. Having the best ship of the line doesn't make you a good player. Understanding how to play makes you a good player, and the best way to understand how to play (besides of course subscribing to Aaron's channel 😀) is experience you get by playing through the ships of the line. You learn what works for that ship type and how to build it out with proper commanders and inspirations. Then, when you finally do obtain the legendary tier ship, you've at least got some idea of what you should be doing.

@@bismarckgamer19 and we come full circle to the point Aaron made in the video and my anecdotal story. WG gives you the opportunity to obtain the "end-game" content without actually needing to play through the game. People _don't_ look up how it should be played. They haven't played the ships in the line to understand _how_ to play them. They don't know what type of captain would be a good fit and what inspirations would help. They don't know what modules to use on the ships (see my previous comment about building into secondaries on the Monty). I really like the newer bureau projects that require you to have ships in the tech tree. At least you've had to grind those ships so you've got some experience.
Quick question, what IF you already HAVE the commander. In my case, its Willis Lee. I already won him from a US Commander Crate. However, hes on the Bereau project for Montana. So, will I get a duplicate commander, or will it award me with bonus Commander or Global XP?
So what happens when you get to a checkpoint and you don’t have the ship? Will it eventually go to the next one, or do you have to wait until you get the ship ?
I’ve been playing the game for 6 years almost and never knew I could use the research points for free they must have changed it cus it used to cost doubloons swear I’ve been getting those from campaigns but never used them I would have had more than only 3 ships by now 😭
basically the last way allows you to progress all your projects ath the same time i thought of that ages ago but maye in all honesty as you said you need alot of time for that
When i didn’t have all the commander i saw that some bureau had some commander has rewards so i did all of them that had commanders so i didn’t need to unlock them in crates

My des moines is almost done, next is the Cristoforo_Colombo, have it to the tier 7 gate, stopped it and waited until I have both 7 and 8 just got the 8. may other ship is the worcester but have to stop that at 4 project sections left so 20 days or more. this well be the the most hated torp DD replacing it until I get the ships, I do this with ships I have the things for, now commanders I sometimes have just one at that level but I am fine with that as long as I have the ships because I do not want to waste commander upgrades on commanders I never use for nations I never play to much. That is my biggest thing I hate I understand the ships some what but even then it makes zero sence to have a Russian ship to get a US one, but what makes even less Commanders, WG makes getting levels on them hard as is, and it changes per section sometimes. Just a quick PSA. You said you can earn wins in Arcade mode (assuming you were just unaware), but Arcade mode for whatever reason actually doesn't work for the Bureau. So AI and Standard only, unfortunately.

I don't think you're right about playing.The higher tier ships if you have higher tier ships from other countries.Then you know how to play.The higher tier ships, the problem I have with the bureau.Is it forces me to buy ships that I really don't want to play or have to buy?That's the problem.I have with it
Tiers are skill levels and giving legendary ships away for logging in is the reason Lt is the worst tier to play, I’ve seen a GK player with 6 days of game play. WG use this as a hook to keep players logging in at the detriment of the game and it’s been implemented poorly until they added tier 8 gate ships.
Wargaming and also epic games should be studied on how good they are in taking my money. Also des moine amd Yamato took me 2 years to get since i didn't play the game everyday and i didn't have a whole lot 😂
