Really enjoying these comparisons and comprehensive testing, this one was closer to perfection but still those audio issues! HDMI output looks really clear.
I bought an original one about 20+ years ago and couple of years later, one day I realized my mom threw it to thrash. I still want to believe she did not do that. I loved to play so much.
That sucks. I can only hope that unit got rescued and found a good home. There are some sellers on ebay that repair and mod original genesis consoles to play alternate regions and they are not expensive.
I am late with this..... But here is a Hug. That had to be hard..... I would have been broken, I stayed in trouble for something so I was not able to play anywhere near as much as I wanted but it was always a comfort to know I could turn it on and watch the demos anytime I wanted.🙀😿
I don't get why these Chinese outfits can never get the genesis audio exactly right. Genesis emulators had perfect audio going back to the late 90s early 2000s
Please, add to the description that this device is a GOAC (Genesis On A Chip) TCT-6803. I will always prefer a clone with a GOAC or NOAC (Nintendo On A Chip) over emulation clones. Also add the model number on the device itself: SMD-G02. This model number is usually more unique than the device name/branding of the device. The SMD-G01 (and reviewed on this channel) is also a GOAC: TCT-6801.
Analogue Mega Sg is not just close enough, it's better in MANY ways. Works with all carts including Ever Drive carts. Analogue Mega Sg can be jailbroken in minutes with ease so you can play your entire Genesis and Master System games from an SD card. Invest in a Mega Ever Drive Pro for it and it can even play Sega CD games. It's the perfect Sega solution. Most others (Including Atgames) are junk. For a good budget model try MegaRetroN HD by Hyperkin. It's much less than half the cost of the Analogue Mega Sg and works with all carts including Ever Drive carts. It does not have the ability to play games from an SD card except through an Ever Drive. You can't beat the quality of the MegaRetroN HD for the cost with ANY other clone.
As long as you aren’t including roms from licensed games, it’s perfectly legal to sell little clone consoles like this, right? I want to get a Genesis/NES with custom branding of my own.
It depends if the company still has a hardware patent then it is illegal but if it runs out it is legal I know the NES one ran out a while back I am not sure on the Genesis one, but Analogue has commercially sold a clone Genesis console so maybe.

I like it! I have the original analogue version I bought from ali a few years back. Out of all my clones that is one I use the most so now with HDMI thats wicked and just made my brain fart!
DIdn't look like you tested the HDMI out from this? The Circuit board with its many chips on this version looks very impressive you should connect Audio out from the TV to big AMP so u can tell easy with satalight speakers if its mono or stereo... use Sonic game collecting rings should be going from left to right channels so HDMI to TV and then use audio out on TV.... because I think the TV you test with has MONO speaker since you think everything is mono when I test same things and get stereo
What I don't understand is why all these genesis / mega drive clones when there is already an official mini? Why not make a master system clone instead? With no official option from Sega I'd buy a good quality unofficial master system in a heartbeat
In case of sound it may be a mono/ L Audio issue. I don't know if original console have mono/ stereo switch in games :P I was time when i was have a 14" TV with mono speaker, but most of the games in PS1/PS2 have a mono / stereo switch. Or most of the cheap clone chip is just bad at sound.
I'm curious if the HDMI board is just converting composite to HDMI, or if it is somehow pulling digital or RGB out. I don't know much about Megadrive clones but I remember one of the reasons NOACs became so dated was there was no way to get them to output anything but composite.
Okay so, I now know what I am going to get with my purchase. This system is good and can be improved a bit. The audio and other issues can be improved. Thankfully with this chip. As I have pointed out before. Not many of us will own a real Virtua Racing cartridge. Does Virtua Racing work via multi cart? Does Xenocrisis work on multi cart? Further testing Wicked. :)
That audio emulation is atrocious, the volume balance between the FM vs the PSG is so far off! Imagine playing Sonic and jumping blows out your speakers.
Remember the radica plug n' play from 2008? That one had all the PSG turned right down so you hardly heard Sonic jump, this one does the exact opposite.
I'll say it again: many of these clones, irrespective of the chipset, have overly loud PSG because the resistors used to mix the signals are of the wrong values. You can get a TCT-6803 properly balanced, but the way these clones come out of the factory, they're always shipping with overly loud PSG, and it's incredibly irritating. Dead HDMI, though, indicates your console is defective (not that the video quality over HDMI is that good to begin with on these clones as their output quality is really soft).
Well, the back of the box (previous clone too) reads "compatible with most of the Genesis and Mega Drive games". Key word here: most 🔎📃🔬 No guarantee 100% compatibility!
