Just wanted to drop by and say, "WOW!" I missed the live Modular World show, caught it after. You make me feel like a complete newb! Anyway, earned a RU-vid sub, a Bandcamp follow, and picked up your two most recent albums as well. Keep doing what you're doing, please! Definitely inspiring!

I’m a few steps behind you: I have the Eloquencer and have been thinking about the Vector to gain polyphony but had reservations. The Hapax’s feature set is hard to deny but I’m a little worried it’d be overwhelming. I need to get more details on the Oxi One, but your video had some really useful insights. Thank you!

Beautifully done sir. I am intrigued by Hapax. I have used Hermod but was forced to sell because of the tiny screen and workflow. I have worked with Rene II and Metropolis, but now am using mainly Metropolix, which has some drawbacks. So I’m always looking for that Unicorn Sequencer. Great performance and chat on Modular World yesterday! Cheers!

Great video. Thanks for posting it. I’ve used so many different sequencers in my case, and I still bounce back and forth between them. They are all so different, and serve different purposes for me, so I tend to keep them all. Hapax looks very interesting to me though. Would love to see you do a deeper dive on it in the future? As always, great work, sir.

Hi there Probbie (Paul). Question for you - Have you used a Vector? Or do you have a video on it? The Vector sequencer is one of the four sequencers in the title of the video, and is the reason I wanted to watch. Yet the only mention of the Vector in your comparison video is for 14 seconds at 04:00 ... ? When you mentioned the 'large footprint' of the Vector, it confused me because it is rather smaller than the Harpax ! So, is this video a shortened clip of a longer video, where you explore using a Vector? Just feels like the title of the video is misleading, and I was disappointed in the lack of content regarding the Vector 🤔 I like the sound of your music, and would have been interested to hear your thoughts on the Vector after using it. Cheers.
@Probbie
@Probbie 7 дней назад
@1heUndertaker Hello, and thanks for your comment. I was only really able to explore three of the sequencers in detail as I have direct experience with those. It is true of course that putting Vector in a supplementary case wouldn't take up much more desk space than Hapax, although you might need the expander to get more CV outs.
@1heUndertaker
@1heUndertaker 7 дней назад
@@Probbie no worries 🙂 It was just confusing to see the Vector mentioned, but without any demonstration of capabilities in comparison to the other sequencers. I own a Vector and also a Deluge, and was wondering about replacing one of them with either a Harpax or Eloquencer. So I was hoping your video would show the strengths and weaknesses in comparison. Maybe the title shouldn't have the 'Vector sequencer' in it? For info, the Vector including expander in a case is 300 x 160 mm. The Harpax is 360 x 210 mm. So the Vector takes up less space than the Harpax - not more. Thanks for responding to me, much appreciated. From the other videos on your channel, it seems like you are getting on well with the Harpax !
@Probbie
@Probbie 7 дней назад
@@1heUndertaker Ah, smaller than I thought. Careful, or I might be tempted by Vector, especially the updated one. Hey, maybe I should get it and add to the comparison.. 🤔

After a long time of pondering I got the Vector without the expander. I got the Harmonaigh quantizer with 4 outputs from before, in another case, so If I want I can play polyphonic without midi. I wanted it because of the ease of dialing in keys, but what surprised me was how easy and fun it is to use and learn. Anyway great video

Great comparison mate ... not sure you mentioned it but are you aware of any rack sequencers that do the korg 'active step' thing?
@Probbie
@Probbie Год назад
Cheers Gary. It would appear from several comments that I may have neglected to mention some sequencers..! Sorry, not sure I'm aware of that feature. What is it?
@GaryHayes
@GaryHayes Год назад
No it wasn't about being exhaustive, as your title makes it clear this is about 3 specific ones. The feature is something you get on the SQ1 / 64 or volcas etc: that even Elektron doesn't do. In essence in 'active step' mode, removing steps from a sequence doesn't leave holes, it butts up existing steps, so an 8 step 4/4 pattern if you remove step 4 for example will turn into a 7/8 and so on, and the ability to randomise or structure the order on the fly. A performance joy @@Probbie

Eloquencer looks like nice sequencer and even Hemrod too. I was comparing them a lot when I was about to decide which sequencer to buy. But at the moment I'm really satisfied with my Nerdseq and Sega Gamepad Did you have opportunity to use Nerdseq? If so, what do you liked or do not?

No, I've never used Nerdseq. If I remember rightly, it doesn't have MIDI out, which I kind of rely on now..

After watching your "The Yearning revealed" I was thinking that I needed a Hermod, however that seems like the least good of the ones you presented here. I will have to continue to mentally deliberate what sequencer is right for me.

That was nice, and weirdly informative (there seems to be relatively little information around of the form “this is what didn't work out for me”). But the Hapax looks big-isn't it at least as large as the Vector with an expander?
@Probbie
@Probbie Год назад
Thanks for your comments. Yes, Hapax is relatively large. Probably smaller than vector and expander, but of course Hapax doesn't sit in the eurorack case..
@stephenspackman5573
@stephenspackman5573 Год назад
@@Probbie I got curious and looked it up-Hapax is listed as 14.1ʺ×8.1ʺ, while Vector is 54HP all in, so Hapax is actually around twice the overall size(!), so even if you dropped the Vector into its own case you'd might have more desk space. Then again, the Vector quite likes to be connected to a Launchpad for shiny button goodness, so maybe there's no fair comparison to be made any way you slice it. In any case (ha ha, sorry) thanks again for the insight!
