My dad has been doing upholstery his whole life and i have learned a lot from him, you could had used only suede any kind of type and install right on top of ur original material no need to remove the foam unless ur headliner is damaged
@@DitoCardona you would spray glue on ur headliner on its material and u would also spray glue on the suede that you would be puting on, let it dry half way then apply.
loved the video bro only thing that wouldve made it convenient is if you added all the product links you used to help us a bit. Regardless appreciate the tutorial and attention to detail!
You can run the wires down the back corner panel and hide the box in the trunk area, there are videos to demonstrate where one would place the module. Hope this helped out.
Lol thank you, and I’d love to! Just balancing the time between doing something for the car, filming and editing I always end up on the short end of time or just not home. But trust me that’s the direction I’m aiming lol
i just wanted to know where you got a new headliner for your fusion i have a 2013 fusion and did starlights and suede but am not satisfied and wanted to redo it
Nice video. I've been wanting to do this to mine. I thought you couldn't do it to the sun roof visor. I like that you got an extra one to work on while still keeping your og one inside your car.
Very in-depth tutorial, thank you! :D I'll be adding to my '20 Fusion Titanium AWD. Do you know if there is a way to integrate the fiber optic cables to turn on / off at the same time your exterior lights do? That would be sick.
I ran a 12V extension under the rear seats, under the rear carpet and behind the rear AC vents into the 12V socket in the center console. They turn on when you turn the key/press start and turn off 1 hour after turning your Fusion off.
Just splice the power cable into your lights. I’m gonna try wiring mine to the front because I wanna connect it directly to the battery like I did with my dashcam so I’d just have to extend it to the headlights and splice it into those wires so when they turn on it does too. Alternatively if you have an auxiliary battery you can just connect it to that and and splice them into the taillights which is less tedious
Great job kinda wonder how it’s cabled to the power source and how you got the mess of wire to sit above the headliner nicely, I know you glued it down but all those zip tied sections wired to what exactly?
hey guys, loved the video. I have a question I'm doing this right now to my car. I have taken my roof liner out and have glued on the suede material on to my roof. my holes are marked. I've noticed after drilling about 15 holes that the drill bit I'm sing it twisting the suede and making it look pretty bad. I'm glad I noticed it. any body have any suggestions on what I can use to make the holes for the fiber optic lines without twisting up the material. I noticed in your video you kit came with drill bits. Where they a certain kind and did you ever run into the problem of your material twisting up?
I've watched like 7 of these now and I can't find a video where someone shows where the led driver goes. I know it'll be different for every car and each starlight kit but I'd like to see a general idea of what type of spaces the box will fit.
I’d love to see how you actually got the sunroof cover wired and put in the car. Since it doesn’t connect to the headliner I’m afraid I’d rip all the lights out trying to get the cover back on the track
okay!!!! I bought a similar kit where did you connect your kit? my comes with a smaller cable and my understand is you need to put the box on the back so where do I connect it ?
I haven't done my fusion yet, but on my last car I ran the optics back through one of the back pillars and had the box in the trunk in a little net so it didn't move around, u did have to cut a hole in the trunk liner for the fiber optics though... I want to mess with the fusion to see if there's anywhere that the power box will fit without cutting tbough
Does it hurt the headliner if you just put the suede over the original material? I need to find out because I will be putting lights this week so needd to know if it’s ok to just put it over it.
dude this is the worse project i ever took up on the strings so many they're getting caught up and tangled I already took em out once see how it goes for me tomorrow
clean 🧽 fusion! totally the reason im working on mine! definitely will be doing this in the near future! is it hard to take out or reinstall the headliner?
To bring it down it’s more just a lot of parts you have to undo/remove but that can be done in about half an hour. The harder part is removing it from the vehicle because you go through the trunk, I have a video where I speak to it more specifically but it’s definitely doable as a beginner 👍🏼
