I want to thank CAI for giving us ‘things as they are in the real world’. I wonder how my viewers realize that this channel is revolutionary. Not just that they are presenting this but that there is no sensationalism. Nothing bombastic, nothing superficial that purports otherwise. I don’t know how many are involved in putting this together but everything shines of high intelligence This is the real deal guy’s and girls this is how the game is play. I know as some years ago I hung out with the best in the Boston art scene. After a independent to Europe I was introduced to Nina at Boston Nielsen Gallery. There was also the Marlboro gallery (NY) there was a big fiasco with them over Rothko) too, the Boston Harkus-Krakow gallery (hope I got that spelling right). Everything is focused on education it seeks to inform. It seeks to enlighten as to “that path” to take if talented and brave enough. And if you do get in remember CAI. It will help you get through, it it’s dog eat dog man. Those who live with a fanciful idea of art. Please inform yourself! It’s the best way to hold on to your dream.
Great! Will be doing a Patron thing with you guys . Most likely the less expensive tier. Doing a lot of work on the loft sound proofing (upstairs fashion studio is more manufacturer then design) dam noise drives me crazy. Looks like a couple grand to get things quieted down. Anyway should get on board with you guys next month. All best and keep it coming the youngster’s need it. USA does’t (for most) teach this in art school. SFAI did but they were a different animal and so…had to shutter after 152 years. Crazy school surprised it lasted that long!
@@DanielLopes-jt8yl Hi Daniel, that would be terrific; thank you so much 🙏 There is no rush, so definitely prioritize soundproofing the loft! The pleasure is all mine, I believe this information should be publicly available to all artists today-so that's what we're aiming to do. Wishing you all the best!
What is surprising - or not surprising actually- is that all the galleries in the video represent male artists, with one or two! WOW female artists- according to what the video shows... Thank you for the video- well done.
Technically Saatchi is not a commercial gallery. It operates more as a kunsthalle-private museum. That said, of course there is a commercial aspect to it which has often been criticized as it operates as a market benediction for the work Charles has privately purchased, thus raising its value before he sells it on down the road..
Keep on working and maybe one day you'll get there! We have a great article including many tips on how to work with an art gallery. Find the entire article using the following link: www.contemporaryartissue.com/how-to-succeed-as-a-painter-artist-everything-you-actually-need-to-know/
I do understand the criteria set to establish such a list but to omit powerful and influential galleries like Marian Goodman, Blum and Poe and Paula Cooper proves making listicles a fool's errand. Cheers-
Yes I follow your reasoning as some of the most important galleries today fell short and are not included. Plum and Poe ranked in fact at number 11 if I remember correctly. However, the query was 'the biggest' art galleries. I believe I would certainly make some changes indeed if the query would be the 'best' or 'most influential' art galleries.
Definitely Goodman for both quality of her stable, historic importance, and influence, if not volume. How a pandering bordello like Perrotin could be placed above the hallowed Goodman shows everything that is wrong with today's art world.
Hi there, good question! When the gallery acts as the direct link between the artist's studio and the art market, we talk about the primary market. However, when an art gallery works with an artist estate (when an artist has passed away), or when galleries buy works from other dealers, collectors or at an auction - read: not directly from the artist - to then sell it again in their gallery aiming to make profit, then we talk about the secondary market.
Hi sir. Where can sell my painting for better earning which exhibition is best I'm.in india Im searching for this video thank you so much sirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........
Hi Quentin, thank you for tuning in! We mention some great artists of colour in the recital of artists represented by these galleries but simply do not clarify their skin colour
@@contemporaryartissue I think peter prefers Vegas and Laguna Beach style 'gallerias' that purvey polite and traditionally accomplished En Plein Air paintings of the California coast or high desert. Or maybe he is partial to t-shirts emblazoned with howling wolves and the superimposed ghosts of old Navajos.
I did not see you mentioning, even for a few seconds, the galleries that showed realistic art in all its contemporary and other realistic forms? Is this because you hate realistic art and you inherited this hatred from previous generations that want to display ugliness instead of true beauty?
My personal work is representational oil painting and charcoal drawing-so I do not hate realistic or figurative art, on the contrary. If you don't like any art beyond realistic art, that's fine. But do no judge or decry others that do.
Judgey much? Art could be in the eye of the beholder. Although I thrill to different methods of representation, be it abstraction, gestural, surreal or totemic, values of ugly/beautiful don’t apply in the gallery world. Art covers both realism and beyond. Artists like David Hockney are quite capable of producing exquisite drawings and portraits as well as abstracted stage sets for operas.
Peter Jones: You´re completely right. It´s obvious that the real masters of painting nowadays are not found in either of these art galleries, and most of the time they never become famous. Odd Nerdrum is wonderful, but he is not the only one who still knows how to paint.
This is condoning absolute crap!!! What does it say that every single piece is absolutely huge because if any of those so called works were small, they would evaporate. ART IS THE QUALITY AND VERACITY OF REAL ARTISTS SUCH AS VERMEER WHO COULD BE SMALL AND LIVE FOREVER! THIS CRAP IS PURE MENDACITY
It is true to male/female balance is not the best in the art world. However, the past few decades the quotum has improved strongly and I will it will continue to do so the coming decades
There are women who have worked hard as hell to reach the success, and there are women who don't miss a chance to cry for no reason instead of really working. Stop whining and calling everything sexist! Just work your ass off, instead of sitting
Crying racist and sexist on everything might sound loud but its low energy will never get you what you desire. What’s loud is creating a space to promote what you desire to see. And then you’ll know the truth. There are reasons and there are results. Only results matters.
