Great build! Fyi, those U-bolts need to be trimmed. Per Archive Garage, you want at most half an inch of threads showing passed the nut. The bump stop can compressed to 1/3 of its size so at the current U-bolt length, there will be some contact with the bolt during full compression.
@archivegarage7638
@archivegarage7638 11 месяцев назад
Good Point, BUT we will soon have shorter Ubolts to supply with our springs that won't need to be trimmed

That's a beaut right there. How did you prepare for the shock valving? Total and front vs rear weights or do you go as far as to take corner weights?
@tinyrigco
@tinyrigco 11 месяцев назад
Unfortunately, we don't have the funds for a four point scale yet. It's on the wishlist though! We have built A LOT of these trucks and have the weights of each component. I would say it's "advanced back of the napkin math" given how many we have done and also weighing a few of the other trucks we have done historically. We shared those figures with Ian and he did his thing. Obviously you want the tuning to be as close to perfect as possible, before using any adjusters, but with having 10 clickers on this thing, we had it riding pretty epic when it left the shop. At least well enough for the alignment tech who does a lot of other vehicles, for some incredible shops, to say it's the nicest driving truck he's ever been in. (No lie!)

So confused on the Goose Bed plate! Did this Tacoma have a composite bed? Im being told it can’t be taken off unless the entire truck bed comes off the frame. Therefore the Goose Gear bed plate won’t work otherwise. Im getting a canopy camper put on end of this month and wanted to take out what I thought was a plastic liner insert beforehand for Phase 2 build but was wrong.
@danielelo6245
@danielelo6245 7 месяцев назад
All Tacoma beds from 2005 forward have been composite. The Goose Gear bed plate works perfectly with the composite bed.

Really!?!?...... Awesome build !! However, when do you hit the realm of diminishing returns? Anyone have an idea of how much this build out costs? I'd love to see the final price tag all inclusive. Enjoying the privilege of the great expanse of this country ,hopefully, will not evolve into a designer showdown that rescinds into the hands of the haves and have nots. As I said. Awesome build!! But, how about something for the common, working man, that showcases the potential of this great country , without the excessive buildouts that are unobtainable for so many Americans currently. I wish you all the best and continued success in your business.

The everyman truck and "setup" would be a 2001 Tacoma with a swag bag thrown in the back. Wouldn't be very entertaining and wouldn't get him any customers.

@AMLS1922
@AMLS1922 11 месяцев назад
I couldn't own anything like that because I'd end up destroying it. I had two brand new 4X4s in my life. One is CJ5 JEEP BLACK ON BLACK BEEFED UP SUSPENSION 35 INCH MUD DESERT DOG TIRES, BUILT IN CB RADIO. FIRST PAYMENT IN 45 DAYS. IT WAS IN THE SCRAP YARD IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS. ROLLED IT DOWN A 60-65-FOOT HILL. THE OTHER ONE WAS A 1985 4X4 TOYOTA pickup this one lasted me 11 months before I took it swimming and it wouldn't swim. But in that 11 months I had already put around 60,000 miles on it. I even had an old International Scout 4X4 that would darn near climb anything. I ripped the exhaust system off a few times 4 wheeling. The heck I put that Scout through but it never died on me. I ended up trading it in. I'm not a young man anymore but I can guarantee if I had something like that truck it would be used hard. I'd Be off roading 90 percent of the time. I'm retired heck I'd probably live in it just camping out and getting away from the damn city. Where I've been stolen from 3 times since I moved here in Reading Pa.
