Hi guys. I absolutely love your content and wanted to thank-you so much for all of the tips and tricks you have shared about Vietnam in the last few years. I travelled North to South last November with my partner for my VERY FIRST overseas trip. Your content was so valuable to me! Being an anxious person I cannot believe I navigated this beautiful country and it seems like a dream. Without your videos I think we would have missed so much of the good about VN and it's people. It's sad to me now that my plans to travel in 2021 are no longer on the table but im finding so much enjoyment rewatching your videos. Not sure what the future holds for travel channels like yours, but I will be watching and supporting until it's time to travel again.
I was in Vietnam 5 weeks 2014 and headed back next year 2021 for the Chinese New Years. I love the food love the people love the gorgeous country side. The coffee is amazing
@@terrywbreedlove Saigon or hcmc it same because it the city in Vietnam but Lunar New year it have more Asian countries like Korea japan Singapore Vietnam....not only Chinese .hope u understand
We are planning a family holiday in Vietnam so we have watched a ton of vids. Yours are by far the most concise re info in a short vid. Great work keep iy up. Jones's from New Zealand!
Other Travel U guy go about don't interest me as much? I just love watching all your trip in Vietnam! U guy great couple rocking your Travel in Vietnam 🇻🇳 👏.
why not take a few snap shot of the menu in Saigon or Ha Noi where it has both English and Vietnamese as a guide to use when going to the remote or rural of Vietnam. just a thought.
Your videos are really helpful for me to plan a trip there. I am considering to travel in the last week of july as it is my birthday month, but would you recommend it as a good time to go considering rains or should I plan some other time?
Hey Fin wheres is it that has that real high see thro glass bridge you see people terrified (tourist) to walk across is it there ? p.s. love your hair girl you look good in bangs actually that's your style
Thanks for the hair compliment ☺️☺️ I hadn’t seen that before. I maybe found something in Son La that might be what you’re referring to but that’s not a very popular area to visit?
Love the hair! Wow this place is packed with beauty. Grab, I’ll have to remember that. I like how you simplified the menu at help us understand the types of foods and the language. So helpful.
Thank you, great advice and can't wait for the second part!!! I am watching you for quite a while but I just realised I was not subscriber, so new sub here, but long time follower :) Stay safe, love from Wales/Uk
My first travel was 2012. Then 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. The roads and highways where not existing in 2012. But these are the nice changes in Vietnam. Every year is something new due to economic growth. I hope that Vietnam will take care of their nature environment in future. Plastic trash is still a big problem.
Super helpful language tips for the food. We didn’t know anything about the up and down tones for our recent trip. We are both vegetarian and found it a little challenging to order good food in remote areas at little local restaurants. Grab though was our go to! I can’t believe we used to travel before the time of grab and uber!!! It’s so much easier now haha
Pursuing Mountains oh yes I’m sure- I didn’t think about including vegetarian options in the video, that would definitely be a challenge. Any recommendations?
Telling people to travel on the back of motorcycle s is extremely irresponsible, the death rate of vietnam roads is horrific, about 500 per week get killed, car taxis are safe, clean and extremely cheap in Vietnam. DON'T risk motorcycle especially in the cities
Hello guys. You, yes , YOU are doing an amazing job...but...it would help us a lot more if you SLOW DOWN. Maybe do one video about ONE location and give us all the pointers you are giving us in an accelerated mode. You can make multiple videos of one area because you are advising us about one "attraction" . It gives you a better opportunity to cover a very strategic advise and it gives us more time to choose one place at the time and decide which ones we can do in our vacation. I am planning my first Vietnam vacation in February.... Thank you lots.
I have just found your videos , all I can say is Wow , I’m totally entertained Your travels to Vietnam we’re so great , as an (older woman Motor cycle Rider) , I’ll take my hat off to you . Those narrow roads and curves , mud ,kids animals in the road , ! Be safe out there enjoy your young life together it amazing this world , thanks , oh ps. You remind me of my granddaughter Fin ,your great attitude and personified!💕💕😎
Excellent pile of info! Which I probably won’t be using in any near future, but enjoyed nonetheless (rescued a new dog so not getting on a plane soon).
Wow, way cool stuff. I saw one of your vids years ago and lost track of you guys. Yea, I'm American and yes, when we visit our house in Laos I use a Huawie Mobile WiFi E5330 so I can watch youtube after I enjoy a sunset over the Mekong from the northwest deck. It's the size a credit card and as thin as a matchbook. Great vids BTW. Loved the 2017 bike ride where you went solo in Vietnam. Last January we went from Vientiane to the four thousand Island area in Laos. They have new ziplines there. Just an idea. I don't do vlogs but click the "J" for a few I made public. Cheers, "Joe Dirt"
Language - North Vietnamese is the correct vietnamese. the south one is meh. not all northern can understand what southern says, but all southern can understand what we say
@@caominh2874 let's not get into this north and south thing. Keep it to yourself. A lot of people don't share your view. And the north accent is very to hear but the southern people are very tolerable.
GREAT help in a nice package; Fin.....LOVE the cut and color! Yowza! Question: Like Tim, I'm a longtime rider; what did he have to do to convince you to start riding yourself? HOW did you "come around" so to speak? My own journey started in my early 20's; had a g/f who's brother rode up the West Coast to Seattle to visit. He and I went out together one night on it- and I was SO impressed....I bought the exact same bike a month later. That was my first/Only experience up to that point. Never knew, never cared prior, but was smitten from Day One.
This is a very good video. I've never traveled around Asia but my adult daughters have including Thailand where they worked at an Elephant Sanctuary which was a n amazing experience. I do recall among the Immunizations they had malaria, tetanus etc was also a series for rabies which are apparently very painful. Is that recommended for Vietnam and Cambodia myself personally i HATE needles ??
Always An Adventure With Kids what a great trip with kids- they’ll love it! Nothing in particular other than making sure they are extra careful to understand not to drink the water out of the tap (or brush teeth) if they are used to doing that at home.
From NZ. We are off to Vietnam next week for two weeks. Just wanted to know how you deal with money over there. Do you just use your credit card and take out from ATMs. I know Cash is King, so how much should we be taking out? We are looking to pay for travel from Hanoi airport to Old Town, food and attractions. Any info would be welcomed?
Maureen Keene hey Maureen! You will need to use cash for almost everything outside of the big cities. Fortunately you’ll find ATMs just about anywhere you’re traveling but if your bank charges extra fees, the balance will just be taking out plenty at a time to not have to continuously pay fees. You’ll find the first ATM right at the airport and I’d recommend using that instead of brining Kiwi cash to exchange at the counter (bad exchange rate)
TIM and FIN thanks for that info. A little nervous to arrive with no local currency. But have some US dollars with us too. Is the limit 4 million a transaction or does it just depend on where the money machine is located? Looking forward to riding on the back of a scooter with a poncho over my head!!! You are very brave to ride over there. My husband is hoping I will give it a try.
Talking about foreign languages, I recommended to download google translate, it is so helpful where ever you go, you can setup a language you want to translate then you and the other person speak into it, or type it, it will translate for you, very convenience. BTW, I like your videos.
Was in VN in October . Used Xin chao a lot ....until that is , our very good day tour guide joked about it being mainly a greeting tourists used ! What I thought ! Then on checking with other VN people it seemed to be true . ? But what alternative I didn't establish . A grey area still. : --( Good vid though ... thanks .
Hah! That’s interesting to hear! I’m speculating- but that might be because the saying is incomplete. I believe the Vietnamese would also include a third word in the phase to indicate the subject and show respect for a certain age and or gender: Ex: Xin Chao _____ That was a little complex to go in to in the video and I don’t even completely understand it 🤷♀️😂
@@timandfin I'm not the expert on this even though I'm ethnically Vietnamese (but never lived or visited Vietnam), but growing up, we always say, "Chao,
@@timandfin It's very good for viewers. Most vloggers run clips without any way for us to understand what is being talked about and where in the timeline it is.
Loved your videos since the NZ ones! That’s a great point you made about the intonations in the Vietnamese language and making sure you don’t “ask” for something the way we would in English. Being Vietnamese, but growing up in the states, I just grew up with Vietnamese and English and didn’t think much of it. In Vietnamese, we would add some type of qualifier into our sentences to turn them into questions. Quick example...something like how the French would say...”you have rice, no?” If that makes any sense to you lol
TIM and FIN Mom and dad were really strict about speaking Vietnamese in the house. As soon as we crossed the threshold of the front door, it was to be all Vietnamese. All of my cousins grew up speaking English in the house. My aunts and uncles feared they wouldn’t learn English well enough otherwise. My parents figured, I was 3 when we moved here so I had every opportunity at school and in life in general to learn English. In hindsight, I’m glad it worked out the way it did! Anyways, I didn’t mean to ramble. I just wanted to let you guys know I enjoy your videos regardless of what country you’re in. 😊
Great video guys! Loved the parts about food and language. As a native Vietnamese speaker, I can definitely say that you nailed it! Also love the bangs on you girl ;)
