Memories! Waterlooplein, sure takes me back when my mother used to take us there. Dat was eind van de 1950's, tot '61. Been a Californian ever since. But I've been lucky enough to come back to A'Dam several times over the years. Never gets old, always unique. Thank you for the tour.
Thanks for the memories, Amsterdam zal altijd in mijn hart blijven. Zeer bedankt xx
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!! This is fantastic. I have lived in Canada for over 35 years now and I miss the Netherlands every single f-ing day!! I wish I could just move back there. This is the next best thing to being there. Geweldig!
I HAVE OVER 1600 RU-vid TRAIN VIDEOS--AND NOW I CAN ENJOY THE WALKING TOURS AS I AM UNABLE TO WALK MORE THAN A BLOCK DUE TO A SERVICE RELATED INJURY IN 1965. I HAD DRIVEN TO VANCOUVER BC FROM RENO 10 YEARS AGO--A FORMER COUPLE I KNEW LIVED OUTSIDE SPOKANE. VANCOUVER WAS GREAT--A FOUR HOUR WAIT++ TO GET BACK STATESIDE ACROSS THE PEACE BRIDGE DURING A HOLIDAY PERIOD GOT MY GOAT (FIGURE OF SPEECH)--I HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL.
Where are your videos, Michael? I'd love to watch them! Train videos are amazing in an intimate way somehow... By the way,as a soldier myself,I want to thank you for your service. What a great man overall. Best regards
+Michael W Stack AS THE END OF 2015 TODAY I HAVE 2607 YOU TUBE VIDEOS, SOME ARE 2MINUTES + AND FROM NORWAY SOME ARE 9HOURS 54 MINUTES LONG. I SPECIALIZE IN THE NETHERLANDS, EUROPE, AND THE REST OF THE WORLD. THESE DO NOT INCLUDE AIRPLANE NOR YOU TUBE MUSIC: THEY DO INCLUDE-- BUS--WALKING TOURS FROM YOUR RU-vid SITE. MIKE
I absolutely love this video! I've been looking for something like this. A video of a beautiful, great European city, nice a calm pace, just showing it living and breathing. I lived in Mainz Germany for 4 1/2 and visited Amsterdam in 1998. Thank you for this video and for sharing it with the world. Wonderful job, I added the video to my favorites and will enjoy it over and over.
Ran into your Amsterdam walking videos when I was checking out streets I haven't been to as yet. Luckily I did, really fun to see new streets I haven't explored as yet and some familiar ones. Will be visiting Amsterdam again in March and will retrace some of your routes. Thanks for posting these, really fun to watch. Keep them coming. Oh and I subscribed as well. Peace.
I never visited Amsterdam apart this time with this video, which make my clear ideas abut Amsterdam: calm city, with brown buildings (as majority), with a lot of bicycles, cubic stones on the streets, nice and modern trams. Many thanks for yuwork.
Amazing video and it brings me so many memories from my trip there in 2015 April. Especially the area where the bulldog cafe is and the Rembrandt statue
very nice and long tour of Amsterdam! I think I have probably walked on 80% of these streets when I was there... I was able to follow you the whole way on google maps and streetview! a bit surprised that you didnt include the Flower Market and Centraal Station as part of the walk, but you also passed by Rembrandtplein 2 times! anyways, great for a one time tourist like me to remember the feeling of being there!
I just love this video! As an armchair traveler this video makes my day. Many thanks. I'll probably never see this city in my lifetime. Thank god for the internet and people like kees Coliijn who post videos like these on RU-vid. : ) What do these bicyclists do when it's raining?
I think I'm addicted to your videos, I can't stop watching so it's as well I'm off work sick at the moment !! Do you plan your walks in advance or do you just go where the mood takes you. Either way you do a great job, well done.
Heerlijke wandeling, ik begon echt links en rechts te kijken, of ik over kon steken, hahaha! Ik kom er helaas niet vaak mee, maar vanuit de stoel genoten, Thanks!
This is a beautiful idea here for people unable to do something we take for granted such as travelling or go for a simple walk for sightseeing. My wife is from the Netherlands & has been living in Sydney Australia for 18 years, we recently got married in Dordrecht is there any chance you have some footage of the town centre? Thanks for your efforts here.
Thanks so much for making this video. I love Amsterdam--I've been half a dozen times. My favourite city in the world. Albert Heijn sighting at 59:21! I love Albert Heijn (and even use an Albert Heijn shopping bag when I go to the supermarket here in Toronto). My Dutch friends think I'm crazy for liking AH. Anyway, really great video. Amazing Amsterdam.
***** I keep hoping someone will notice my AH bag. Oh, and not just the crappy, thin plastic ones. I've got a deluxe AH bag with the sold plastic handles at the top that click together. The Cadillac of AH bags. What's better than Amsterdam and Albert Heijn?
I visited this beautiful city 2 summers ago. It is the most incredible place in the world to me. My dream is to move to Amsterdam one day. Greetings from Colorado
I went there for the first time on a layover in 1999. That four-hour layover haunted me in the most beautiful way. I went back twice in the following years. I'm ecstatic to say I'm going back in May. Cheers!
I always try to spend a few days in the city after the North Sea Jazz Fest. On the last time there I saw the city workers with the John Deere device clawing the stolen-abandoned bikes out of the canal. Love and miss the city.
being that Red brick buildings so happen to be my favourite, amsterdam is in my top 3 most beautiful cities while nertherlands is the most beautiful country in the world in my opinion.
Nicely done. I have one suggestion: It would be nice if you put the name of the location or street in the video, so people who aren't locals know where you are through the video.
At 15:21, going over the bridge the guy on the bike (right side of screen) yelling at the Horse-buggy driver, PRICELESS!!! Even I can imagine him saying '...get your f*#%^$g horse out of here!' lmao...
It's nice that it's slow moving .gives you time to take in and observe I noticed the absence of traffic signals and people aren't on their cell phones on their bikes which is a plus ! Tourists everywhere though need to be alert and on guard . not to let it be obvious if you are a tourist with a camera exposed thieves think that's an easy target , I'm not trying to be negative about the Netherlands it's one of the countrie I really like with the water canals and boats and flowers , I'm a flower person and livng in a water boat would be beautiful but I was surprised to learn that the murder rate there is higher than some of the other countries in Europe .
Wonderful video it is very smooth considering that you made it while walking. What camera did you use to make it? Do you have any suggestions for travel cameras? Thank you for sharing your videos.
Oh the memories... Hot summer day, smoking too potent weed, and being paranoid and lost in these beautiful streets. Streets and buildings made of bricks, and the bells from bikes and trams... Love you Amster!
Go to 1:04:20 you can see a women placing down a cup when there's a bin right next to her. Notice how she casually places the cup down and jog's away, I can't stop laughing.
05:00 Sitting on a bank alone, looking worrisome :( 15:20 Road rage. 18:12 Aftereffect of the argument; discharge of anger to a totally unrelated person :)) 01:02:45 Accident averted ! 01:04:22 - 01:04:35 Difference between man and woman :) 01:12:44 Stink-eye.
I would like to ask you for permission to use about the first 4 minutes tops of this amazing video I heard a Pontarddulais male choir (welsh choir) singing "On the street where you live, and I would like to help them voluntarily from love I guess,The Choir is one of the most famous in the world, and thought this videos first 4 minutes would be an amazing compliment to their tremendous rendition, of their song, I have no intention of monetizing the video, it will remain your video and I will place a link happily to your channel I merely think this is artistically filmed and it fits in perfectly with the song, they belong together, made for one another a marriage made in heaven I do hope you will be sweet and allow me to do that thank you. Thank you in anticipation of your positive agreement ,David Thomas.
