I almost bought the reach about a month ago at Whiskyauctioneer ( I forgot the exact price my guess is around 160ish) I had whisky auctioneer reach out to me as the auction ended to see if I wanted to bid anymore as the reserve wasn’t quite met. I’m glad I didn’t go ahead and raise my bid as I agree with you that it’s highly risky after thinking about it.
Nice video! I’d also be interested to hear your thoughts on the Suntory 100th anniversary Yamazaki and Hakushu editions, which were released in June. The Yamazaki 18 year Mizunara and Hakushu 18 year Peated are limited to 2,000 bottles each.
Its not 2000 bottles each unfortunately (for some). This was just a rumour. There has been no confirmation to date on total release numbers but its most certainly more than 2000.
Definitely more then 2000, I can find it easy in my town in USA. Also it taste no different then the regular bottle only difference I believe is the bottle presentation.
Hey Mark,I find it funny G&M released the oldest whisky at 80 year old,and then within months Macallan go and release an 81 year old whisky. I wonder if they bought that back from G&M. ??
Still waiting for a review of Glenallachie distillery, and your take of past releases like the 30y and 21y CS bottles and maybe how the future for GA looks. Will they challenge some of the other big distilleries? or is it a hype like spring bank? I guess having BW and he's team taking over, will be some sort of quality stamp.
Springbank isn’t hype, Macallan is hype. It’s not a criticism of the Macallan brand, it’s just a fact. You ask an experienced whisky drinker what the most overrated whisky is I would imagine Macallan would be no. 1 reply. A Springbank 18 is about £120 at rrp. and the distillery’s reputation is built on a very knowledgable fan base. That is the very opposite of hype.
Billy walker probably transferred glenallachie’s stock to his preferred casks. Six years is enough time for him to have put his signature on this 30yo?
What sites are best to find out about new release bottles that only have so many coming out , as anytime you hear about a bottle like the GlenAllachie it's sold out ?
