I have decided to skip a year of my degree so that i can concentrate on the novel im writing. Its scary but i think it's the right thing to do. Im different to most people as i work best when i put no pressure on myself with time frames and set goals. I get so easily overwhelmed that i thrive when i dont feel pressured. Not comparing ourselves to others is very important i think. Im glad your back. 😊

Hi, Susan, that's such a brave choice to make and it's such a blessing to be able to make it ❤️ I completely agree, you do what works best for you, no one writer is the same 🤗 I hope, in the future, writing will be so ingrained into my routine and I'll know my process so well that I can just live and write, write and live, and I can sustain myself like that. Adding reading in midst ofc eheh. I'm glad to be back and to have you here, I'm excited for this year to come 🥰

Happy writing! I also write literary fiction. Though mine is more arthouse than hallmark. Haha! I'm like you, continually adjusting my writing plans. Right now I'm focusing on revisions to one big novel while waiting for my publisher's typesetter and cover designer to finish work on my forthcoming short story collection. Right now I'm writing around three hours a day, usually three or four days a week. Once the wife is back at work and baby is in daycare, I'll be writing five days a week consistently, four hours minimum (I usually tap out at six hours). Ideally, I'll write before baby wakes up and then after the wife drops our daughter off at daycare.

Thank you! yeah, different phases of life require different routines and goals. honestly, respect for any writers who have to juggle it with parenting. Your writing plan sounds solid! 👏🏻

honestly my writing plan is a mess 🥺 for a time i stoped writing all togheder n’ it's very hard to get it done, i don't know what or how should i write. sometimes i wonder why did i even started to write at first place, it's though. probably i should reflect more on lon-term writing, instead of simply sit to write whatsoever apear in my mind, i hate that everything i'm writing lately is death short! 😔 you vids always are so pretty, and comfy i reaaaally adore the camera/edition ♥️ even your voice is so quiet that feels like a hug. i don't know what i rambled here, actually, but this video maked me think.

thank you so much for sharing your experience with me 💗 honestly, I feel like the stage you're in is something many writers go through, I certainly did. I think there's a time when we're just developing our writing, learning about our style, what we like and what we don't like, and the things we produce may not even be stories, but they're moving us towards something else. Even today, I make sure to have a place where I can just go and write without an agenda, and I try to remember to do it form time to time, because it always helps me get back in touch with the ideas and themes I lean towards. I think, if you feel you are ready and desire to work on a long-term project like a novel, you should definitely go for it, because we only know if we can do something when we actually try, and sometimes we need to try more than once. But I think it's also important to allow yourself to just write without pressure, like you've been doing. I hope this helped in some way, sending you a big hug 🤗🤗🥰🥰

Such a relaxing video, I currently have no writing goals (t o be fair most of the time I don't) and have honestly been taking a break from writing, like the past idk maybe 4 months or less? Which has been refreshing, sometimes you just need to take a step back and then you can come back with fresh ideas.
@saraawynnie
@saraawynnie 11 месяцев назад
Thank you! 🥰 I completely agree, depriving myself from taking breaks actually lead me to take longer in each step because my mind was too full all the time. I think it’s a healthy mindset to have as a writer, to not rush things and to not compare your journey with anyone else’s ☺️ thank you so much for sharing this with me 💕

Oh my gosh your channel is already so cozy! I absolutely love this, so excited to hear more about Project Snow. Edit: I loveee bookclub books personally, it’s that perfect middle for me (i also love lit fiction writing) This was so cozy, you have such a calming personality. My current writing goals are to finish drafting my mg fantasy and to start final revisions for my ya/new adult contemporary :)💫

My current writing goal is 30k words (or 7 chapters) for August. I hope to finish draft 1 by the end of September. I have a general outline done, but I flesh out exact scenes as I progress, so I do things like that during the day and write at night. I'm also planning on starting revision 1 of a project I finished drafting in January this month or the next. Then it would be editing during the day and writing at night. I didn't write at all in May&June and finally found a good rhythm in July, so I just want to keep it going. It's really motivational to watch videos like this about getting back on track ❤
@saraawynnie

that's amazing, you're such an inspiration! 😍 I never know how long my first drafts will be cuz I'm an underwriter, so I just go scene by scene. But, like you, I like to leave the details of my scenes for drafting instead of outlining, especially because of lot of times those details are more organic when they come to me in the act of writing. Momentum really is key, it's great that you found a rhythm that works for you ❤️ this month, for the first time in a long time, I've managed to keep my story working in the back of my mind when I'm not writing and that's really helping. Thank you so much for sharing your goals with me, I'm looking to making progress alongside you 🤗

At present my essay has no problem about fluency, unfortunately, it exists that I cannot use the proper words to catch the reader’s eyes and hearts. For instance, when I do the task of writing the famous soccer stadium, I always confused which attractive words or sentences I have to use. Always wait for your vlog and your writing work ❤
@saraawynnie
@saraawynnie 11 месяцев назад
thank you, friend! When it comes to writing essays, finding the right words is really about reflecting on what your thoughts and feelings about the subject are and organizing them in a coherent way. If you want your reader to enjoy your writing, you must enjoy writing it first. Best of luck! 💪🏻

Dear Sara, I've been following your channel for a while, and I really wanted to tell you how much I love it. ❤ Your videos make me feel calm and relaxed, but they also keep me very inspired. I'm a wannabe writer and I'm so happy I'm not alone regarding not only the writing process, but also all the "crisis" an author may have. It made me feel less guilty, haha! Keeping up with a single story without thinking too much about the other ones sure is difficult... Sometimes I get sooo frustrated, even if I know it's useless. 😂 Right now I feel the same: I'm changing a lot of things about my writing routine and my reading taste. And about that I was wondering something: how do you keep yourself motivated when you're writing the first draft of a story that, of course, you still can't make public because it isn't edited? I must confess it's a major problem of mine, because I've realized I always need someone who reads my chapters as I write them, and not only my best friend for example. I used to write fanfictions, and that was when I used to write a chapter and post it right away (even if now I know it's not the best way, but still... I was satisfied because I immediately got the readers' opinions). I know the ideal thing is writing for yourself first, but oh gosh I'm struggling... Can you please give me some tips?🙏🏻 Thank you for keeping us informed about your process, and I'm sending you all the good vibes you need in order to achieve your goals. ❤ You can do it! (Sorry if there are some mistakes, English is not my mother tongue)

Dear Amanda, thank you so much for your sweet words, it's so encouraging to hear from people like you, who share their journey with me 🥰 you pose a very good question and I'll try my best to answer it here. I come from a different writing background than yours, in that I've never had the habit of sharing my writing while it's in progress, so I didn't get to experience that immediate feedback. However, I think what you're struggling is probably related to the desire for immediate gratification, which is an issue I and a lot of other writers share, especially when it comes to long projects such as novels. The best way I've found to satisfy this desire is to track my progress in detail. Every time I sit down to write, I register it on the project's dedicated notion page, and slowly the numbers add up. Even if I have no word count to show for, I have time count, and it pleases me to see that I dedicated 10 minutes, 25, 50 to my project. I also try to celebrate the little wins. For example, when I complete a scene, I check it off the list. Tracking progress and checking off boxes might seem like such a small thing that it could be irrelevant, but personally I find it super helpful and it also teaches me a lot about my process. I guess that's the key for me: to focus on the process of writing, not the outcome of the story being read. I hope that, if you try it, it's as effective for you as it is for me. Keep going and you'll eventually learn more about your own process ❤️

Good luck with your writing. Motivation can be hard, especially if one of your main desires is to please an audience with a well-written story. One thing you could do is found a writing critique group. I co-founded The Vermillion Writers Guide when I was in college (we were mostly a writing critique group, but once a month did a creative writing session). In the past couple of years, I co-founded Tri-State Writers. We meet weekly to critique one member's writing. It's a lot of fun as long as you set some ground rules. It both lets you share your writing and gives you awesome pre-publication feedback.

@@saraawynnie Thank you for your advice! 😍❤️ I admit I can be a lazy person sometimes, so tracking progress is something I thought of doing but never did in the end (except waking up and saying "okay today I'll write after lunch" 😂). I really have to do that, and above all I must learn to be more patient. I do have a friend which sometimes reads some chapters, but yeah I think immediate satisfaction from a larger audience should be avoided for now, even if curiosity hits very often. I'm very slow when it comes to writing: that's why I often get frustrated. But in the end it's a matter of accepting oneself and believe in a good future. I'll let you know, I promise ❤️
