i think its unfair that a big chunk of this talks about jae's controversy and struggles. I was waiting for the video to talk about the members too and how they overcame their struggles but it just ended with their achievement (which is nice i guess) but people should know what the members had to struggle with too during the hiatus. (Bear with me, this is going to be LONG) > you forgot to mention their most significant event which is their 2020 hiatus - Both Jae and Sungjin had to withdraw from group activities because of their struggle with mental health - Even of Day (Young K, Wonpil, Dowoon) was created because of this and they continued to promote and keep day6's name during the hiatus - Sungjin COMPLETELY withdrew from anything music related, even refusing some music requests and invites and focused solely on recovering. - Young K worked hard as a DJ as well as taking every activities to keep Day6's name alive. and even when he was promoting solo, he still brought up Day6 - Wonpil up until the day before his enlistment held a solo concert for the fans - Dowoon felt sad and lost during the hiatus because he felt worried about where the group was going (so he sought comfort in fishing) Day6 even mentioned on their 2023 anniversary that they wouldn't even thought about renewing their contracts if it weren't for the fans' support. Even when they came back for the 2023 The Present concert, there were still apprehensions. Sungjin, who the fans were mostly excited to hear sing again, had to go back and forth to the hospital to get his throat checked if it was in good condition. And even so he still felt the need to pre-record his lines because he wasn't feeling confident. (He pushed through still singing live of course) > About FOUREVER ep title - Jae has every right to feel hurt about it (and i've watched that Zach episode) since he did spend a good chunk of his 20s with this band. However, you have to know that his resentment is NOT towards the members but more of the company. The members have explained WHY they chose to name the album as FOUREVER: > To celebrate myday's 4th year > to celebrate them returning after 4 years of hiatus > they want their songs to be remembered forever even until they no longer exist. but according to sungjin, he thought just having forever is boring so they decided to use wordplay lol > About him being cropped out of group photos, People have the right to be sad about normal photos (like the wikipedia one) however in terms of photos the official accounts post for their MV milestones, people have to understand that since Jae is no longer under JYPE, they can no longer use his face due to copyright stuff. Hope that helps! Just a little bit more context for the casuals who only learn about day6 through videos like these!!! If you're going to cover about day6's struggles then at least include the other members as well. I personally don't follow Jae anymore but from what I've heard, he's doing well and in a good place which I'm happy for him. Both Jae and Day6 are doing well so I hope people could support them individually and leave behind the "Day6 is not the same without Jae!!!11" mentality. I'm really, REALLY glad s.kor finally woke up and acknowledged them 🥹🥹 from music show awards to consecutive RAK on charts 😭 they worked so hard and they deserve all the recognition!!
I just really hate it when these RU-vidrs are making it sound like Day6 is all about Jae...🙄 I know that they favor Jae as he's that member who grew up in the west but they should at least show some respect to the remaining members.
Finally someone talking about how hard Day6 has worked to be on top. The ups and downs that they had, I’m just happy that they are still making music they want🍀 I want to say that I do miss Jae but I follow his solo career too💚
Facts!! Even my original bias was Junhyeok. He has been in the group since 5live. He was there, in the episode of YG reality shows, when YG boys and JYP boys were having a kind of battle. His face has some similarities with 2PM Junho, and as a 2nd gen JYP nation fan, I started paying attention to him. I remember, he was one of the most creative members. He was the one who did the live improvisations song on their monthly concert! His musicality is superb! I was really disappointed when he was being expelled from Day6, but yeah, he breached out the contract, he was wrong. Then Jae, one of the original "most popular" members, because he is really active in some variety shows or podcasts, has to leave the group, because of something. It kinda shocked me, but well it was his own choice, so be it... If only, Jae is still in the group, I think he will become one of the most popular members, because he already has a lot of fans (esp. Foreign fans)
I just hope that all of them are happy and still keep in touch with each other. I miss Jae of Day6 so very much 😭 Maybe someday they will share the stage together again. Until then, I will never stop supporting both Day6 and eaJ ❤️🍀
Day6 and Jae are both doing their best in their respective positions. They maintain a good relationship with each other and support each other. If you are a long-time Day6 fan, you will know that Jae did not leave the group simply because of cultural differences. The biggest reason was the conflict with his agency, and the constant harassment from some malicious commenters also made it difficult for him. He truly loved the band and the members, so the decision to leave was difficult for him and an inevitable decision. He has never criticized the members, and it is only a problem with the agency. If someone were to intentionally erase my 20s, and treat me like I never existed, Wouldn't that hurt? It's just that simple. There are people who criticize me unconditionally, and I wonder if they are really fans. I am a long-time MyDay and I will continue to support Day6 and Jae.
I think JYPE not favor him in the group, he tried his best to stay. So sad. But i still support both solo and band activities. Best song’s always makes me loyal to the group ❤❤ love that they received such recognition in SK. Ps: i just attended their concert last week. Im so happy
Really the saddest thing is we would never hear his voice singing day6’s songs and it haunts me As delulu as i am, i’m still hoping someday we can hear them sing together in whatever condition it will be. Affirmation. ❤️
I first saw and became a fan of Day6 back in 2018 during their tour when they came to Toronto. I fell in love. They are the reason I am into Kpop as much as I am today because I just went all in. I love Jae and him leaving the group and the company was honestly the best for him and I am proud of all four and him for everything they have achieved up to now. I sometimes wish Jae could have stayed but I am glad him and the guys are still friends so that's enough for me. 💜 I am behind on their music, probably still feeling weird with this new direction but I do support them and I like what I have heard from Fourever.
Day6 is just becoming known amongst their actual target audience, the Korean general public. Korea is the land of bands, and strong vocalists. They love the types of songs day6 makes. Them blowing up makes sense. I’m glad they kept pushing forward.
Don't know why this video frames Jae's actions as excuses when he's taking accountability for everything he's said and has and still is trying to become a better person
To me, if it weren't Jae and Young K, day6 wouldn't have got many international fans. Also the way day6 climbing to the top reminds me of Army fans from BTS in 2016. Organic from the group and fans themselves.
yeah but after jae left. there are so many people online saying good riddance to him. he was dead weight. He messed up yes, he made amends yes but kpop fans pick and choose who they bully and want redemption
I mean we are jumping from 2016 to 2021 way too fast 😭🤣 in 2020 the group went on hiatus since 2 members were having anxiety (Sungjin and Jae), YoungK, Wonpil and Dowoon were put into a subunit (Even of Day) during that time Jae started to make instagram lives and as time passed he also started twitch. He got hate and was bullied and cancelled day after day because some things that he said were taken out of context most of the time. I do agree that sometimes he could have reflected more on what he was about to say and express it differently, but the dude did nothing wrong. So taking into consideration day6 also started military era and Jae was being open about the fact that he and the company didn't get along, the ending of a contract, personally didn't took me by surprise. I was sad but not surprised and some what some kind of relief because I thought he was finally free if that make sense. But he got too comfortable with his freedom and said the worst thing he can say to a woman and with that he lost a lot of followers (me included). I stepped back and until I didn't saw some progress and how he was trying to be better I didn't followed him back and now I am a Jar as well. (I totally recommend to listen his latest EP "When the rain stopped following me" it is very personal and intimate.) Day6 has suffered a lot, all the boys deserve the success they are having now. YoungK worked 24/7 on radio, writing lyrics, and has done all the stuff so day6 wouldn't be forgotten during this long group hiatus at the same time he debuted with his solo EP and after military he even had a comeback with a full solo album. Wonpil released his solo album and made a 3 days concert the day before his enlistment, Dowoon as debuted with a solo single, and he was in some variety shows (mostly about fishing but is his passion the man is happy fishing). And Sungjin ofc he got to work right after military and he is more of a person that work behind the cameras, plus as a leader he has been taking a lot of responsibilities, he is coming with his first solo album this November so please show him some love. Day6 success now (and more in Korea) is the work of 9 years in the making. 💙
Sungjin and Dowoon has a RU-vid channel too. It's random but really fun to watch 😅 Hope they will be more successful, bcs we all know that they are so talented, work very hard, and I think we can feel their love to MyDay❤🔥 Thanks to IU's Palette to invited Day6 and bring me to the new fangirling chapter ❤
I think with Jae's departure, the company prolly leaned towards the Korean market now that the foreign member was out of the picture. They are far more active now in Korea utilizing Youngk's fame (let's admit it, he's the most famous member now) and has that sweet and adoring character that hits home to Korean viewers. Junhyeok has been reappearing back and forth in some music competitions on tv while Jae has been making music as an indie artist. We move on that they all departed from the group, there's never going to be a comeback with any of the departed members for sure. It's sad, their controversies sure we're bad and it cost them their status to the group and now they're just four members. More than JYP the company, I despise Studio J more... They're not really good in handling their artists so I'm always worried about how they'll handle Xdinary Heroes too 😢
Ssjyp rythym game made me their fan because I like jyp groups in general and hearing their songs there made me like them too They are like hidden gem with no missed songs in their discography all bangers
I am a fan since debut! I'm so impressed by the fact that they are finally getting the attention deserve, even after a few years' hiatus and the loss of a member 6-7 years in, 9 years into their career. Their music deserves it - I have counted down eagerly for every single release for nearly a decade.
I only noticed them when 'You were beautiful' came out and the rest is history😅 They literally dont have any bad songs, and have quite different range of songs, even their japanese album is LIT❤
0:34 I don’t usually make comments like this, but isn’t this just basic research for a channel as big as KOOKIELIT? The drummer’s name pronounced DO-UN (thats how you read korean names with 2 Os) & he’s actually the one on the left of the circled guy, which is one of their ex members Junhyeok 😢
Their music was better when they had Jae with them but definitely Korea likes them more now that Jae is gone. Personally I can't listen to them without Jae. And Jae's music as Eaj is literally incredible! But I still miss my former favorite band. The album name was definitely disrespectful. I just hope they are all happy in the end tho
over a period of time i was sorry for jae, after listening the song HAPPY, i love 4 day6 even more and i cried. 4 members also have been through rough time as much as jae but never have been recognized properly cause they cannot say anything. they sacrified precious life time of their own for military service, endured quite long time under lack of recognition while jae got all the spot light. Love day6, hope they can feel full of joy just like they gave us to our life.
The author skipped the main part: the group's hiatus in 2020 due to mental health issues of Sungjin and Jae. It was the catalyst of the group's falling apart, as the three other members formed a unit Even of Day while the management didn't even care to reach out towards the two members on hiatus to check on them and ask whether they wanted to be a part of the project, lol. As the unit's promotions continued, the time was ticking, and it was already time for Sungjin to enlist, so even when they dropped their last OT5 album Negentropy, they didn't have a chance to promote it. The Even of Day unit got another promotion, leaving Jae behind again, and he shared how he literally had a zero balance bank account because the company simply didn't care to give him any work, restricting his solo activities as well at the same time. It was as if they were punishing (?) him for his daring to take a hiatus back in 2020 (!my speculation!). And as a person can starve only for so long (plus, adding a blatant harassment from "fans", some of them literally telling him to kys and how the band was better off without him anyway), he made a decision to withdraw completely. I can only imagine how harsh it was for Sungjin at that time because Jae was outspoken enough to at least share his frustrations and talk through them, while Sungjin kept it all to himself, completely staying away from anything music-related. This episode of their career makes me sad and furious because none of them deserved that, and it seemed like poor management created problems out of nothing, playing into the hands of some petty "fans" (as we can see with other kpop groups nowadays too, if you know what I mean). So I can only hope that with the group finally submitting to StudioJ's wet dreams of making them a band strictly for K-market (no need to cater to foreign fans if you don't have a foreign member, duh), their star will shine only brighter, and none of them will be hurt like that ever again💔 I sincerely root for all three of them, for Day6, for eaJ, for Junhyeok. May this world be nicer to them in the future❤
I don't really care about the controversy, if the song up to my taste i listen to it , i listen to "Happy" everyday because the song is good ❤❤ hope day6 and jae move forward and more successful
lmao all the people commenting on Jae here are as clueless as Kookielit in this video. also clearly. the most average twitter kpop stan behaviour ever.
Also, i like that this docu mentions how Jae literally spread shit on the internet (twitter, twitch) bc of his problematic takes and offensive humor. He damaged day6 reputation esp with international fans. God knows we went to hell just to defend him… until we reached the point that we can’t anymore. I just hope we all move forward. I wish he is getting better, and getting the help he needs. As for me, I just wish to continue supporting Day6.
Hi! As a current fan of eaJ/Jae, I’d like to tell you that he’s been doing really well lately! Jae for the most part has healed and has shown a new and better side of himself, along with releasing solo music and is openly speaking about his struggles :)
I will be entirely honest the entire thing with Jae was blown out of proportion, yes he called Jamie a “Thot” but he was also being ignorant as he said it as a joke. That should not have done as much damage as it did, and people shouldn’t hate him for it
I'm so sad if some members are leaving the group. I'm so happy that they are back and striving. I hope someday they will reunite as 6 members as well. let's support all of them.
@@quietjaddie13 umm??? that incident is the reason why a lot of kpop stans don’t like him. Even if Jamie forgave him, the fans don’t really feel the need to support or defend him anymore (which is also why he gets sm hate online)
@@truefalse934 why waste energy trying to hate on him when hes not even in kpop anymore LOL why not use that energy to support your faves instead of always trying to bring people down... this happened more than 2 years ago... maybe spend that energy hating on ppl that actually deserve it? 🤣🤣 harping on this issue when hes changed doesnt help anyone
He had his misogynistic side slipped up and that was really a turn off for some fans. Including me. I’m a girl first before I’m a fan. (I am still into day6 tho 🍀)
Day6 is currently active as a 4-member group, and the member who left the group due to issues with his agency is also active as a solo singer. They still maintain a good relationship with each other and are successfully active in their respective positions.
His contract termination was planned tho. He tattooed the date in his arm BEFORE the announcement was even made. So, he had fully planned his leaving. As a myday, his decision was fully selfish, bcs he decided it while the members were in military and before, when they gathered in Jae's apartment, they said 'not to worry about them' and would always be 5. Well 🙄
how is that selfish? he wants to do things for day6. and jyp is not letting him. you want him to do nothing and wait until his members come back? dude also need to earn money and put food on the table bro.
Jae always love DAY6, if he only had a choice I am sure he would stay. If only the company didn't force him to take a year long break, he wouldn't have the time to be chronically online and in twitch that eventually ruined him. They are slowly and subtly removing Jae from the group, starting from EOD not mentioning Jae when they can freely talked about Sungjin but nothing of Jae. Having solo 6th anniv vlive (It doesn't make sense even as precaution for covid because EOD are living together and there's a test duh). Music is Jae's avenue and DAY6 is his bread and butter but the company cut him off even when he's ready to work again. Even his podcast is a job he got for himself not pitched in by the company. Even there was an artist who wanted to collab with him, the company didn't let him know and rejected it without informing him. It was the company who did him dirty in the first place, they know that Jae's not in the right headspace and having mental health difficulties but they did nothing to help him. I am not saying Jae have no fault but you can't only blame him for everything that had happened.
No, the truth is he already planned things out w/ the boys. About him leaving the company, but still continuing as day6's member like taecyeon did w/ 2pm. But, as you can see, jyp didn't allow it. Why? Because they despised him. Jae has been very vocal about the mistreatment he received. Jyp didn't like that. Even he had to stop doing jaesix because jyp thought his content brought negative lights to jyp when all he did was making a vlog w/ day6 and his fellow english speakers' friends.
Dude left without batting an eye because of being unable to assimilate to Korea, and now that Day6 4 (four) members created the album "Fourever", he started to be hurt lmao. He has some high self-importance, I see. "Erased from the band history" my ass. That's the past, how could someone erase you from the past? Instead, Day6 says that they're 4 (four) members now and that will continue to be that way. How the one that left can blame the band for something? You left, finite.
@@quietjaddie13 Day6 create their own songs, why would they not do that for the album? Or do you think JYP himself came and said, "your album will be called Fourever"? Nah, I don't believe that Day6 had no saying in this.
The 'scandal' that shouldn't be a scandal in the first place but a bandwagon of haters are twisting his words and taking everything out of context. They just blew everything out of proportion and continued to threw him under the bus. If you have given up on him then you don't have the right to keep bringing up his past mistakes. You all left him in his darkest time of his life so you have never seen his healing journey and how he's trying to change for the better now.
Ok. I don't know Day6 at all, but Jae's excuse and using "cultural differences" is not one at all. Raised in America, they teach you to be independent, yes, but always a team player. So, wtf? I get it if he's having other difficulties in "cultural differences," but it can not be about being all about him. Like Koreans say, he must have the "celebrity disease." He's definitely thinking too highly of himself. Sad that the rest of Day6 had to be with him, for I don't know how long. I wish them the best.
Have you lived in Korea? Work culture is insanely toxic but everyone is just expected to sacrifice their health and well being for their companies. Most koreans barely spend time with their families. I taught Kindergarten there and my students would tell me about how their parents come home after they are already asleep. It's a very good reason if you want to take the time to understand a person rather than just judge them.
The way Jae/eaJ handled everything is honestly worse than what he actually did. If he'd just stopped talking and making everything worse, maybe things would've turned out differently. He shouldn't have kept making promises or saying any of that stuff when he wasn't actually sure what he was going to do. Lying like that isn't cool. Just say you're on a mental health break and you'll update fans when you're ready. That's all. No need for empty promises. More people dislike him for lying and misleading fans than for what he did to Jamie (which was also uncool). Lastly, if he wanted everything to be about him, he should've never joined a band. There are few things worse than being in a group project with someone who doesn't want to be there. Regardless of Korean culture, a band is still a team. If he wants it all about him, now he has it. Again, no need to lie. It's weird for him to be upset about the album name when he is the one who left them. He chose to leave after pulling the same stuff he did with fans and telling them he would come back. Even after leaving JYP, that he'd come back. He was being wishy-washy and wouldn't commit. And clearly now it is too late. It's all about him as eaJ now. He still has fans. He can be upset if he wants to, but he did it to himself.
Jae always love DAY6, if he only had a choice I am sure he would stay. If only the company didn't force him to take a year long break, he wouldn't have the time to be chronically online and in twitch that eventually ruined him. Music is Jae's emotional avenue and DAY6 is his bread and butter but the company cut him off even when he's ready to work again. I also wish (probably Jae too) he did things differently, as he said in Zack Sang Show it's the one thing he regrets -- how he was immature and angrily handled those matters. You can't also blame him for getting hurt from the 'Fourever' album name coz even I as a fan got hurt lol. Not because he left the band doesn't mean he has no right to be hurt and invalidate his feelings like who are we to stop him from feeling that way😂
This is so funny to read cz he joined jyp as a soloist and jyp grouped him w/ 5live. He didnt ask for that. He didnt know what was coming. Sure he did some problematic stuff, he could've handled things better, but that doesn't erase the fact that Jyp, specifically StudJ, mistreated him. Jae being very vocal about the mistreatment caused that company to despise him even more. Do you know why he had to cancel Jaesix back in the day? Because that company thought his content brought negative light to jyp when all he did was making a vlog w/ day6 and his fellow english speakers' friends. I dont think he lied when he said he wasn't leaving Day6 at the time. He already planned things out w/ the boys, but jyp didn't allow it and posted a different statement. Also, I think he has every right to be upset about the album name. C'mon, who are we to judge? We don't know what happened behind closed doors. Stop invalidating one's feelings. If you think about it, they didn't make an album named 'Fivever' or something after Junhyeok left, did they?
