Lolol my best friend in college was a guy and I did tell him all my secrets and problems and knocked at his door crying abt failing a midterm😂 he helped me move in and move out and walked by the lake with me for hours just to make me feel less sad, so I thought he was so nice we must be BFF no matter what. 2 year later he dropped the bomb “I love you” I almost lost my shit 😅😅 fast forward we have been married for 6 years. Turns out he took every opportunity to cozy up to my parents too cuz he knew I would need asian parents approval to date him

I made it pretty clear to a woman once that I was, unfortunately, not okay with us just being friends. I told her I wanted more, I would always want more, and it would drive me insane to have that desire not be reciprocated but still have the same level of emotional investment. I was told that was selfish, which I agreed was true - but it didn't make my feelings any less real nor valid. So we basically didn't see each other or even talk, other than random comments here or there on Facebook, for about 2 years. In that time I worked on myself, physically and mentally, to become the guy that would either be good enough for her, or good enough for someone like her. 2 years later, one of my best friends married one of her best friends. Those 2 friends knew what was up. They seated us together at the reception. That was in 2012. We've been married 8 years, have a 6-year old daughter, life is great 🙂 You don't have to be the "friend". But you do have to be the right guy.

oh boy here we go So I'm a 19 year old woman who's studying interior design and started making friends with some girls in my class. The one I connected the most with was "Rachel" (let's call her that), but there were other girls too. Anyways, some months passed by and my little insecure baby brain thought they were trying to exclude me somehow, so I suddenly stopped hanging out with them. During so, I started hanging out with this guy instead (let's call him "Gabe" *10 y older than me btw*) we had a lot in commom and although we never really texted each other we were always together for a couple months. I was dating at the time but months flew by and me and my boyfriend broke up. That's when things started to get odd. Gabe was living with his girlfriend for a year or so by then, but sometimes I felt like he was flirting with me. Saying things with other than friendly connotations at the start, but then escalating to situations where he would tell me "you know we're getting maried one day right?"... And I was single, but he wasn't, and he had talked to me so much about his girlfriend, just as much as I told him about my ex. I felt like I knew her, and giving him the wrong idea of our relationship had me feeling that I would be betraying someone I have never met. And yes, I could've just stopped talking to him but, just as I told him: I had a bitter experience with bullying during high school, and I really wanted to be friends with someone. I have ADHD and I talk A LOT, I just wanted to have somebody to share my thoughts and have conversations, maybe eat snacks together, things like that. Well, one day, he was talking about this girl who was not his girlfriend. I got confused mid conversation and asked him who she was. He told me that she was a girl that he hooked up every once in a while during his breaks at work. With. A. Straight. Face. And obviously I got even MORE confused because didn't you say you had a girlfriend dude? And he was like "yeah I do... Its like I hook up with her at night at home and with this girl in the afternoon. It's like what we have ya know, you're basically my morning girlfriend, we just don't kiss" and my only answer was "and we never will". Shortly after that, me and my ex made ammends. (He's a great guy but he was going through a lot, and honestly, I thought it was really responsible of him to break up and get himself together first, so that he could be a better person for him and others. We got together again, been for almost two months and everything's going great). So sometime after I shut "Gabe" off, he was absent from a day in class when the teacher gave us a really hard assignment that had to be done in groups, so I partnered up with "Rachel" (the girl from the beginning of the story) and, as someone who got rejected would do to turn the other into a villain, he got really mad at me for not partnering with him. I had a little panic attack the day after that because, as I said sooner, I'm ✨️traumatized✨️ from people that I thought were my friends being mad for stupid reasons like homework and bullying me afterwards. I literally had a nightmare about him trying to push me off a window. In the end, Rachel and the other girls never really excluded me. Actually Rachel thought I was the one who was trying to exclude her from the group with the other girls. We talked about it and now we are friends again and I do not talk to that guy anymore. Because I was clearly a mean to an end to him, and I won't ever let anyone treat me like this again. I'm a woman, and I have a male best friend, we know each other for quite some time already. From the very beginning I felt very homely around him, he was the only one who really *understood* me. We have perfect chemistry, perfect synchronization, intellectually and emotionally. We do have different cultural and religious backgrounds but it didn't stop me from falling in love with him. We entered a situationship, he said he would allow himself to develop deeper feelings for me now that I confessed that I want him. Long story short, he decided that our backgrounds are too different and he's very preoccupied at work right now to open up his soul for another human. The pain is unimaginable. This is so true but sometimes its a different case where the freindly feelings is actually genuine sometimes and normally the girl starts the new sparks of the new possible relationship between the girl and the friend just because she might need attention and affection after the break up. I seen this happen with my guy friend who told me his female friend went to him because her ex broke up with her because he was bored of her, and my freind told me he began to have feelings for her because she went to him directly. Its normally after showing affection the guy friend grows feelings for the girl.

I as a girl have three guys I define as my closest friends, each of them I knew while they were in a relationship or between relationships, and they never once in our entire friendship hit on me.
