A shame how much inaction and backstabbing there was with Irish Chieftains and other leaders, they all got overthrown in the end despite what they thought.

It is the nature of Ireland. Ireland was never a real country. Ireland was a group of clans.. Being a grouping of little kingdom, this meant the Irish were good warriors and good diplomats. Because little kingdom would fight amongst each other, but when one little kingdom was not strong enough to fight, then diplomacy was necessary. The Irish expelled is Norsemen. Where the English failed to expelled the Normans. After King Brian expelled the Norsemen, Ireland went back to its old ways without a strong central government. It not that the Irish were backstabbers. But instead it was the fact that they were loyal to their clans. The real shame is that after Ireland achieved independence last century. Ireland turned around and joined the EU, which is the real shame. American Irish like to play the game of what if. But I look at it different. Ireland was a country stuck in a long lost time. The Irish were never going to enter the modern world. The Irish live on an island, but were never a fishing nation, or a sea faring nation. The were basically farmers. Although they had pirates, but nothing beyond that.

@@jamesmooney8933 The Irish did not expel the Normans u moron. Before you say battle of Clontarf, most of the soldiers that fought on the Irish side were Norse - They assimilated in Irish society. Heavy Norse DNA today as consequence. After this, the Normans (NORSEMEN) came back and just became Irish too.

@@jamesmooney8933 bullshit lad, The Irish have conceived of themselves as a nation for well over 1700 years. We were a sea fairing nation. Your demonstrating how little history you know about when you make claims of us never being a sea fairing nation, the only reason fishing and sailing became so rare is due to the confiscation and redistribution of land under Oliver Cromwell. Originally it was all land within 10 miles of the coast was to be planted by exclusively English loyalists. This was relaxed over time from 10 to 5 then to 1. This only changed with the Land commission after the Civil War.

@@jamesmooney8933Ireland never achieved the Republic we sought for, and there are many who still consider the revolution unfinished.

@@vonbeedle554 The problem with the Irish is that they are the best politicians in the world. The problem with politicians is that they are like water and always seek their own level. The Irish defeat the Viking at the same time the English lost to the Normans. After the victory the Irish killed the greatest Irish King Brian Boru. As a nation, the Irish were the best of warriors, because during invasion they would unit, and fight, but they were no match against modern weapons. It was Dermot Mac Murrough an Irish King, who invited Henry II over to Ireland. It was the Irish Nobles, who rebelled against the English, because the English would let the Irish Nobles at the Royal English Court. It was a blessing to Ireland that the Nobles left Ireland. During the Patoto famine, some of my ancestors die with no help. Not one Priest starved in the potatoe famine. Not every person in Ireland died in the Patoto famine, but they left my ancestors die. There is an interesting fact about Irish Americans. They will say that they are proud to Irish. Then you dig deeper, they are a mixture of other nationalities. It wasn't the men of Ireland who made the Irish, but it was the woman. The English pushed the Irish people into the poorest lands of Ireland. It was the Patoto and the Irish mothers that over populated Ireland. The Irish men became large then the English, so the English sent these men to the West Indies, Australia, and the United States. More recently in Northern Ireland, the Irish were Catholic were a minority. Now the Irish Catholics are close to being a majority. Because when the Orange were marching threw Irish Catholics Neighborhoods banging their drums. The Irish women let the children watch the parade, while getting banged in the bedroom. The Irish woman are thankful to the Orange marchers for keeping the children entertained. After getting rid of the British, the Irish politicians let the EU invade Ireland.
