I love your videos. I love the information. I know you will likely not see this but as a bogey golfer (never performed a handicap) I would love to see you bring in an inconsistent golfer and test these new clubs. I feel the forgiveness part would be evident along with distance for golfers not quite up to your level. Like 5 of your friends or family that don't play consistent golf test the numbers. @@expomm I 100 percent agree. I just think it would be interesting and the "forgiveness" would be more evident in the newer clubs with more average golfers testing them. There are no clubs that can fix bad technique. Practice and lessons are the only thing that will improve someone's golf game consistently.
Great idea. Of course lessons are the better investment, but if you’re in the market for a new driver it would be great to see the real life impact of what forgiveness means for different clubs/brands
Every review of new drivers every year leads me to one conclusion: Buy a used two or three year old high end driver. The performance won't be that much different, and you'll save a lot of money.

I’ll stick with my F9 - I loved it from the first hit, I agree with you one of the best ever. The look let’s the LTD down - the black and yellow aren’t for everyone but I personally love it. No driver change for me this year

Honestly, love this LTDX from Cobra. Went in for a fitting yesterday with no particular driver in mind. Hit all the normal culprits, the stealth, rogue, tsi, g425 etc but this one stood out like a sore thumb stats wise. It was a clear winner - even out hitting the stealth by 15 yards! I must say when I went into the fitting I was not expecting to leave with a Cobra however couldn't be more happy with it - it felt effortless to hit and its forgiving as anything. Now the 10 day wait before being able to get it out on the course!
Yea went to try out a driver hoping I wouldn’t get forced on the stealth since there was about 50. Ended averaging 298 with the LTDX. It was crazy to think I was hitting my g400 271.
I haven't bought it yet but on first blush the LTDX was 6 yards longer carry and 11 yard longer total. I am pretty sure picking up an additional club length is worth it.
This will be the year that buying a new driver will fix my slice. It hasn’t happened in 20 years, but this will finally be the year that buying new equipment, not lessons, will make me better.
Now, I put a Cobra LTDx MAX into my bag recently - replacing an elderly Taylormade M2. My God!! What a change, what improvement, how confidence-instilling! Love it! Makes me a very steady (and longer) driver of the ball!
I love the comparison of going back to the F9 cause it just shows that every year (relatively speaking) marketing and hype play such a huge role in new clubs and performance is negligible. All the more reason to buy previous years models, IMO.
I’m think these are pretty unattractive personally, as a matter of fact I don’t think any of the new drivers look good, besides the new Mizuno which might be one of the most beautiful drivers I’ve seen
It's a tough one this year. Based on looks alone, it's between Callaway and Cobra for me. In terms of price, the Cobra wins by a mile. I can't wait, I'm desperate to try them both out.
I totally agree. The stealth was supposed to be the big thing this year and for me I think the Cobra blows it away. The Callaways are also looking pretty slick but the Cobras are by far and away the best drivers for the price point this year. I don’t even need a driver but I’ll definitely be taking a few swings with the Cobra to try it out.
Always want to try the cobra i ended buying a Ping 425max,Carl golfland when I tried out several different clubs the ping worked for me better . I'm definitely hitting it more online to target and with minimal swing effort I'll get 240-250 and strait,I'll take that any day. I have hit it 300+ but that's on a good day perfect swing and so on.
@Ll L A high percentage of golf is all in the head. If the club I'm using doesn't look right behind the ball before I'm about to swing, then it doesn't give me any confidence that I will strike it well. Also if I'm going to spend that much money on something, I expect it to look good as well. Besides, all these drivers are very similar in performance anyway, so price and looks are the natural steps in deciding what you want.
Looks wise I’d take the F9 over this any day if the week. The LTD already looks dated from like 2014 to me personally. Wish there was a way to measure forgiveness, that what really matters lol.
Holy cow!! Fantastic video and club test as usual. I got my LTD today!! Put it up against my TM Sim and I gained 10 yards of carry and 20 yards total distance. Unbelievable feel and absolutely love the sound.
Itching to get out there and try some of these drivers you’ve tested. Price is always a big selling point for me, but performance has to match. Great video again Rick 👍🏻
The general rule is drivers improve 1 yd/year. So hard to notice in a short amount of time but a 2022 driver should go 10 yds past it’s 2012 counterpart. So RS getting 3-5 yards more with the LTD line vs the F9 is strong and expected.
The Cobra LTD X is great! I had a club fitting at my local GOLFTEC, I tried PING, Taylormade and Callaway and Cobra came out on top. The feel was unreal and felt the easiest to hit for me (I hit driver about 220-240 if you’re wondering)
As a new golfer I fail to understand why everyone isn't hitting drives over 400 yards because every year the newest drivers claim to add 10 yards and over the past 40 years.
I'm starting to question the credibility of these "tests" both James Robinson and Rick Sheils posting almost identical content on this driver today and yesterday on the Stealth Irons. Feels more like paid scripted ads than genuine tests and opinions.....
You should do a comparison from the speed zone to the rad speed to the LTD. I’ve used all three models and have continued to like the new model every year. I am curious as to wether that was just me wanting a new driver or if the performance was actually better.

Txg did one of speed zone vs rad speed Conclusions were the speed zone is very good when we’ll struck but loses a lot of speed when hit low or high. The rad speed corrected that. So it’s a very hot low spin driver with forgiveness on bad hits. As far as rad speed vs ltd well I’m sure those will be coming soon. But I think last year what we saw was that every big manufacturer is putting out a quality driver. The race is so close now that it’s not about which driver is better but which driver suits YOU better. Driver heads are now the same like shafts imo. Gotta find the right combo. …… For example look at the new stealth from taylormade. Can we objectively say it’s better than the sim 2 ? No it’s not, it’s not faster it doesn’t seem to be more forgiving. It’s just different. And maybe it suits your better but maybe not. I have been playing a 2016 m2 driver. I think it’s finally time for an upgrade. There wasn’t much of a jump the past 2-3 years
Hello, I have recently returned to golf this year after ten years of not being a member. The driver I had up until recently was the taylormade burner TP I felt I became unpredictable of the tee. I watched your reviews on the this driver and the taylormade M4 both which where on offer at American golf. I personally found I hit the taylormade m4 further but was very inconsistent where as cobra ltd was very was consistent in distance and general direction of the ball. Unfortunately with this time of year due to weather up here in Scotland the golf course has closed till further notice. I genuinely can’t wait to get out on the course and see how much a difference the new technology can improve my game. I used to play off a 12 handicap for context and I’m a big fan on my titliest 690cb iron stiff shaft on my clubs. I do have a reasonably fast swing. My question would be what is the difference from dyn gold stiff shafts to x flex shafts?. I have seen that swing speed over 105 would be suitable but are there draw backs?. Also love your videos really helped make a better decision for someone getting back into the sport. Cheers

Hey rick thank you for your totally honest analysis, im a senior golfer and ive had many drivers in my time . But ive got to say the F 9 was the best one ive ever used ! Why dont they just call the latest one , f 12 std , f 12 dis , or f 12 d it would be much easier !
Didnt hear Cobra had a new driver coming! I just switched my bag from Callaway to Cobra after all my clubs falling apart from Callaway...im talking brand new Apex 21's 5-GW lasting 8 months and having 3 drivers(GBB Epic, Rogue and Epic Flash) with cracked faces over 5 years. I just got the RadSpeed driver and Cobra King MIM Tour Irons and MIM wedges. I have big hopes for Cobra. I doubt i woulda benefited from any of these new drivers but they seem to perform great. Would love to see a comparison to the Radspeed.
Rick, excellent review and has me still feeling pretty good about my F9. The few extra yards are money for Kyle Berkshire, but don't mean a lot for me with a 13 handicap. How about head to head with new TM and Callaway drivers?
I frankly love the look of this driver. It beats both the Stealth and the Rogue, and it is at least $80 cheaper in the US. I would like to know about the durability of these drivers. If the face flexes with each hit, there should be some issues after a period of time. If you are an amateur who plays often, should you consider replacing an older driver? I have had amateur friends crack the faces of their drivers.
I’ve been working on getting my speed up to try long drive over the last couple years and I find that longevity really depends on speed. If your someone who swings sub 100mph you should be able to get a good 3+ seasons if you take care of your driver (use the headcover always, limit sky balls, clean your ball and club, don’t leave your clubs in the car, storing in a shed when it’s -40 outside). I used to get 2-3 years before I started to break a driver down in that speed range. But now that I’m 127mph on an average day and can reach into the high 130’s on the range I only make a few months with a driver before I start breaking the head down. My last driver was a Callaway epic max ls and right above the face started to wrinkle after 3 months and I did the same to a titleist 917 and ts3 before that.
That's why I am really interested in the TM Stealth. Curious to see a year from now how those hold up. Older TM offerings, I'd end up getting flat spots in quick order. My current Callaway Epic Flash SZ has held up well though.
@@two_toned_rooster a lot of that depends on how often you play too. I swing it around 120, but I've never had a problem breaking faces. That's because I'm lucky if I play once a week. If you're consistently hitting balls and playing regularly, you probably won't get as much life out of it.
@@LTR1420 yes that does make a difference too. I live on a golf course with nice covered practice facilities so unless I’m working super late I hit 100 range balls a day, plus 18 holes, and usually it’s twice a day on days off. I am known to go to the range with just driver for a couple hours too, so all that considered I am a bit of an extreme case 😂 Edit: the 18 holes are if I have time. Usually it’s either just 9 or just range when I’m working. Still a ton of golf though.

Got my ltdx yesterday. I used to have a bit of a slice with my old callaway driver until yesterday. I’ve not hit a single shot right since owning the cobra ltdx. Now I’m straight down the middle. Don’t know why or how. I’m hoping Rick you may be able to give me an answer?
Have a F9 driver and love it, bought a SZ 2 years later and im still using my F9, nothing wrong with the SZ at all but just love my F9. I think price and performance can't be beat with Cobra but not impressed by the look of these unfortunately. Keep up the great work Rick

What? Stealth also outperformed the sim 2 by the same margin if not more (being last years model not 3 years) and your conclusion was totally different! I guess you are not sponsored by brands but have a very clear preference! Be fair Rick
I’ve had the Cobra Radspeed in my bag since it was launched . Probably the best driver I’ve ever had . Was fitted and tested all brands and the Cobra stood out from the rest. Look fwd to testing out the 2022 model
Bryson says the NEXT one is gonna be amazing gonna hold off on the LTD X models (eyeing the LS version) I too have the Radspeed with a custom 16 gram up front and got it up to 134MPH two nights ago.
I think it’s great that the cobra drivers stack up to the big guys but are much cheaper. They need to get the club in more bags for them to gain the cult following like the others. Great video as always!
If you consider that pretty much EVERY other driver you've tested goes exactly the same distance as the previous model, I think the fact that you are seeing 5 yards extra distance is important. It means they are the only driver brand that has managed to achieve what they say on the box.
I bought the Radspeed XB for a killer deal since these came out. I paid quite a bit more when I bought the F9 new. Judging by distance there really hasn’t been the much variation. I think you should always include dispersion images between drivers. Hitting big distances is great, but keeping it in the fairway is crucial.
So the question is… do you go Cobra F9 for about £150 ($190) or brand spanking new LTD for £399 ($500)? I don’t think Rick mentioned the price… Granted it’s still cheaper than TM Stealth and Callaway Rouge
I have F9, new drivers by all brands look amazing. But, like Rick said, for the sound, feel, and performance of the F9 can you really justify spending $450-500 for 3-5 yards of carry. For me no, F9 until it breaks.
$649 Canadian dollars $733.37 with tax in the province of Ontario why is it that these clubs are so expensive? What can possibly justify a price like this other then greed!
I find it so interesting that the standard and the LS models gave you the same spin. Have you tried lowering the loft? I'm curious what your distance would look like with a lower loft, a few hundred less spin, and maybe a similar or higher launch (higher tee/more AA?)... Maybe also a different ball like the AVX or ProV1X left dash...
One thing I really like about Cobra drivers is the way they are slightly curling the face around on to the head. Other brands bringing the head finish up to the edge of a flat face, the risk of getting one of those horrible little chips on that sensitive edge! It doesn't change anything but aesthetically, don't you just hate looking down at that nasty little imperfection when it has happened on one of your clubs?
Just bought this a month ago. Absolutely love it. Love the milling and the infinity shape grooves as it helps screw the ball back to the center and i get that baby fade without fail when i hit that inside part of the infinity. Incredible. Used my fly-z for 7 years and this is the only driver i smacked better overall.
Any chance we can see all the data from the different driver reviews this year? Looks like the carry numbers were similar to stealth, but stealth didn't include total distance. Also, the ball speed on stealth was slower, but was that from lower swing speed or less efficient strike?

Rick, I really enjoy your videos. They are both entertaining and informative. There is something that is strange to me and that is how you and Matt put so much importance on looks and sound. To me the performance is really the only thing that matters to me. I don’t care what they look like if they can take strokes off my score. I’m not a great golfer, just a mid handicap once a week guy if my schedule allows. I can’t think of anyone I have played with has ever discussed the looks or sound of any clubs. Perhaps it’s a Great Britain thing, or you guys are so good, it’s where you focus on the looks of a club. I’m not putting you guys down and please don’t take it that way. Hey rick, you hit the Cobra f6+ in a different video, you were carrying 300+ and rolling out another 20-25 yards. Have you lost some distance or were the numbers incorrect? The video was shot 5-6 years ago
I love my Callaway Mavrik Max. Very forgiving but can these actually bring anything different to my game. Just like the TS3 vs TSi3 review, just not convinced that 1-2 years actually offers any improvement.
These are really interesting results. But I'm wondering how much we can actually trust these numbers when you're only hitting 5 to 10 shots with each of the drivers 🤷♂️
Best driver....Ugliest aesthetics....never thought someone could consistently release drivers uglier than PING. However, RADSPEED was the fastest one for me....so in this case FUNCTION over FORM.
I went for blind fitting today where I had the fitter just hand me what he thought might suit my swing. After an hour the LTDx Max ended up beating every other driver I tried.
Their name is correct, in engineering the modeling technique Callaway and now Cobra are using is called topological optimization. The buzzy name for this thanks to the marketing people is "AI" tuned. Topological optimization is just letting the computer determine the topography of the structure rather than an engineer using intuition and an iterative test process.
Cobra was having a sook about Bryson’s comments on the RADSpeed and now with Brysons help they’ve produced this! I think what they meant to say to him is THANK YOU! Club manufacturers need to focus just as much of people who actually use the equipment for golf and not just advancements in tech. they both need to go hand in hand
I have Hot Wheels flame racing decals that look better than these drivers. Whoever was in charge of the looks of this driver should be fired! For 3-4 more yards, no way it's worth paying full price. Stick with the F9!

Hi Rick, Great review as usual, very honest and heartfelt. I’d always have a look to see if you have reviewed a club before I bought it. I feel like a lot of club manufacturers just put a new one to market for the sake of it, and I get they have to because of the competitive nature of the market. Do you respect Ping for not releasing a new one this year, or do you feel they will be left behind? For me I think it’s a clever move because it will build anticipation for the new model. For those handicap golfers lucky enough to play enough golf to justify a new driver every year, and those that have the disposable income, a change per year is great. Does it really impact their game apart from in their head? I think Ping are making the investment in their drivers more manageable for a club golfer by releasing them every 2 years (I’m not a Ping player) It does beg the question though - will their new driver be a life changer. 5 yards every year - or 10 every 2 years. It’s a great disguise to produce a revolutionary result…. I guess we wait and see?

Rick! Those are some of the best drives I’ve seen you hit on your channel. Hard stop. Regardless of what club is in your hand, those were excellent shots. On the topic; I’m a recent cobra convert. They are the most underrated driver out there. Love my SZ. That said, I’m not switching. Just not a big enough difference. Yet.
The impression is different from the conventional Cobra drivers. However, it is a new design that does not resemble the design of any manufacturer. I want to get it.

Also. My cobra driver. The seams where the face attaches shaves the skin off of balls like silence of the lambs. I had to get in there with a tiny file and smooth the entire seam around the entire face. Hoping that’s been addressed.
Great review, only concern is that if you look at the standard deviations in your testing they are essentially the same drivers. Maybe some fluctuations in spin, but COR is limited by USGA and R&A. Tour vans will specifically list heads for pro's that are at the USGA limit, testing several to make sure they have the max COR. If you have a driver that is only a few years old, save your money and keep your current stick.

Everything goes through the corporate machine and someone who actual hits golf clubs goes, "wait a minute, you're telling me you want to associate the word 'top' with a golf club?
