I love the classic Disney Alice In Wonderland. I feel it captures the tone of the Lewis Carol book better than any adaptation I’ve seen. I don’t like when people think Alice In Wonderland is a dark twisted story about drug use, it’s about a little girl that goes to a world where everything is nonsense. Just my opinion.

Excellent overview! Alice in Wonderland has always been my favorite Disney film, so it's nice to see someone do a video essay on it. I really related to Alice a lot when I was younger; she's a really charming protagonist, and Kathryn Beaumont portrayed her perfectly. Also, I agree with your assessment that the Disney film is stronger for doing its own thing rather than trying to do a straight adaptation. And the art direction is just sublime!

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite stories ever, I've read the book and watched the Disney movie several times, and you captured my feelings about the animated movie exactly in just the intro alone Edit: The rest of the video sums up my feelings just as well as the intro did. 10/10 video!

My favorite is actually Through the Looking Glass (1998) Kate Beckinsale made me realize Alice is actually a protagonist that’s even more interesting as an adult with a child of her own

How many other adaptations have you seen though? People usually call the Disney ones the best because its usually the only ones they've seen

My only complaint: the Jabberwock didn't make the final cut.

A very fair point! They had an endearing sequence planned and it's sad to see it didn't make it into the final film! It's nice to know that at least Disney released the storyboards and script for that part. Even if we didn't get it in the film, we can at least get an idea for how it might have been if it wasn't cut.

It "technically" did. Not the Jabberwock creature itself, but Cheshire Cat recites the poem as he meets Alice for the first time.

In that case Top 3 Alice stories: 1. Lewis Caroll's original 2. Alice In Wonderland 1951 3. American McGee's Alice (video game series)

This was the video that led me to your channel, because I just wanted an analysis of this disney movie and you are the only one who made a video like this to it (except maybe for the moral of the story video, but that just talks specifically about one aspect) I really love the nonsense world and characters and that everything is so weird in a way, but that makes it stand out. It is a movie you can just let flow and don't need to think too much about it but on the other hand you can still take something from it. For me the Tulgey Wood Scene is the most interesting one of the movie and that's because we reach a low point in the story that isn't in the books, but it holds the movie as a whole together. That Alice wants to find her way home but doesn't know how and suddenly the other creatures of the wood come close to her but then disappear. I don't know what it is, but this scene has something really special to me, the feeling of being left alone in the world and having no way. And there you can still interpret something into it, if you want to. Also it is a scene where she wants to escape the dream without knowing that she is in one. I love the concept of it, being a dream, because then all the nonsensical aspects make sense and represent something of Alice's unconsciousness. To your video: I love the effect at 5:40 while you say that characters stretch their limits and then show the mad cheshire cat - perfection xD also I agree with you that this seems to be very good adaptation in staying true to the source material. They made it episodic but still had scenes like the tulgey wood or returning characters to tie it all together and I especially love the climax where you see all characters again and even hear reprises of the songs and themes - it's just so perfect and intense And as you say animation is an underrated medium, therefore I am so happy that there are youtubers like you who give these movies the credit that they deserve and luckily there is a fandom out there for these movies and I am proud to be a part of it ^^

Question how many of you have played the Donkey Kong games follow up Question wouldn't it be crazy if Disney made an Alice in Wonderland game where Alice gets captured by a giant ape who throws barrels and wears a tie
