I’m actually working on a video series regarding this, so you are two steps ahead of me! My recommendation is to be a generalist in the beginning because you don’t want to block yourself off from the other areas. There’s also a lot of overlap across them, so building a portfolio that shows a breadth of design skills across branding, editorial design, interaction design, for example, will give you more options when applying for jobs and projects!

@@yanivitzhak4392 This one is a little trickier to answer, and I can't really give a definitive response on this, but the average junior designer salary in NYC is about $70K. Still, some designers make more and others make less. This will also vary depending on the company, location, and then experience. It's never the answer anyone wants to hear from me, but my truest answer is to focus on the work, and the money will come.
