My husband and I just watched you with Hank Smith and John Bytheway this morning and I am I thankful we did. It brought me here to your Restoration series, just what I hoped to find. I am anxious to go through these with you, I am 68 years old. Never too old to learn yet sadly too old to remember.

Thank you for sharing with us - can't wait for the next video! I have added these to my weekly study schedule. One of the blessings of COVID lockdowns has been the time to find and follow all these wonderful online additions to my study programme which in turn has increased and strengthened my faith and knowledge. So looking forward to getting to grips with D & C which I have found really difficult to do so far.

Another similarity/analogy to the gradual unfolding restoration is the gradual development of the bible. Some Christians treat it as if it were delivered in toto as it is at one time by God. It took centuries to develop into what we have today, and God never said it was finished.

I recently heard someone (maybe Emily Freeman?...) mention that the straight and narrow path is not a checklist, it is the LOVE of Jesus Christ. (Maybe it's also ordinances) As we access and seek His love and apply it daily to our lives then we are led to HIM (or the tree of life). But it's not some daily checklist where we have to hit a certain percentage of perfection

Wonderful insight! Thank you so much. When discussing the apostasy in D&C class, a seminary student asked if the gospel and PH authority were the same...If taking PH authority from the earth was the same as removing the gospel from the earth? Class paused as the students talked thru this question. I loved listening to these young people decide that having the gospel without the Savior was useless. And that PH authority brought truth and correctness to the gospel. This video was so timely.

I've learned that one of the beauties of life is not knowing. I never thought I'd say that, but it's true. Had my life turned out exactly as I thought it should at age 18, even age 20, I'd have missed out on a lot of pain. But I'd also have missed out on a lot of experiences, opportunities, friendships, and personal growth.

oh my word!!! Yes!! I have been thinking about that. Sometimes, NOT KNOWING gives us more blessings THAN KNOWING. It is funny that way, huh? I would love for instance to see the Atonement of the Savior, but there is a kind of comfort to me of not being able to see, touch, taste, smell or hear it. I just have to trust and believe it and that is kind of comforting to me. I can not explain it, but it is.

“The Lord can't reveal to you and I [what] we can't understand;…for instance when Joseph first received revelation, The Lord could not tell him what he was going to do. He didn't tell him he was going to call him to be a prophet, seer, revelator, high priest and founder of [the] Kingdom of God on the earth. Joseph would have said… ‘just what does that mean? You are talking that I can't understand.’ He could merely revealed to him that the Lord is pleased to bless him and forgive his sins and there was a work for him to do on the earth… The first time He sent [an] angel to visit him, he could lead his mind a little further. He could reveal to him that there were certain records deposited on in the earth to be brought forth for the benefit of [the] inhabitants of the earth. He could reveal after this that Joseph could get them; then he could reveal that he should have power to translate the records from the language and characters in which it was written and give it to the people in the English language, but this was not taught him first… After this he could tell him that he could receive the high priest had organized the church and so on. This is the way the Lord has to instruct all people on the earth. I make mention of this to show you that…the Lord can't teach all things to people at once. He gives [a] little here and a little there, revelation upon revelation upon revelation, a precept today, tomorrow another, the next day another. I thought the same thing! Then I realized that the Monday email covers the week. Scroll down to the bottom and click on the daily reading schedule. Also, it is in the ScripturePlus app in “Reading Plans”, where it is kind of like a game with check marks 😁.

Wow. That quote about truth not being an abstract thing that never changes but a person (Christ) who is living and breathing and seeking our best interest really inspired me. I’ve been struggling with resentment toward our prophets for teaching doctrines that have been harmful (polygamy and racism). It’s undermined their authority for me. Were they wrong and if so shouldn’t that be acknowledged instead of swept under the rug of church history? I realize my questions can seem inflammatory but I genuinely want to know. I struggle with knowing if I am supposed to see the Prophets teachings of doctrines as accurate interpretations of Gods will when those teachings seem in conflict with Christ’s teachings. Aren’t these prophets vulnerable to the same human weakness as us all? and if so then how do we interpret these past doctrines that could have been given by error?

Those are totally fair concerns you have. Anthony has a second video on this channel (Understanding Church History and Doctrine) that I think is super great that tackles those exact thoughts you have shared. I love the quote from Joseph Smith: "The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it..." In addition to watching that video, which explains your concerns much better than I ever could, I would just say that yes - these Prophets are vulnerable humans who along with us are trying to learn. If they weren't ever wrong, or didn't ever have wrong opinions, that would be grounds for me to say: Well they must be perfect. But they're not. There was only ever one perfect Person and He has called the men and women of this world "in their weakness". I hope that proves some amount of comfort, and if you have any further questions or concerns after watching Anthony's second video I'd love to try and answer them to the best of my ability.

The Faith is not blind book and the 3 levels seems to be similar to, or perhaps taken from Dr. James Fowlers, Stages of Faith. The stages he uses are: 1) Intuitive Projective Faith, 2) Mythical Literal Faith, 3) Synthetic Conventional Faith, 4) Individual Reflective Faith, 5) Conjunctive Faith, and 6) Universalizing Faith. This was published in 1981. We as disciples of Jesus Christ and desiring to become celestial beings need to move beyond primary school answers and on to more nuanced and often circumstantial answers. Thou shalt not kill and yet Nephi is constrained to slay Laban. Thanks for your presentation. JT

What about the brass plate that lehi have recieved?why joseph Smith has not translated this brass plate too?we know the brass exists as well with the book of mormon if I am correct!are we not ready to receive the brass plate what lehi have received?
