This is very very hard for me. When I saw this video I went numb. I took Melanie’s place in Germany on some of her live shows because she had signed her contract with Sony with the group LaBouche. One day, I got the nerve up to make an appointment with her sister, her manager, to see if they needed any singers and just to introduce myself. Melanie was there. I enjoyed our visit, especially considering we were from the same state. A couple of months laters, they called me to see if I could sing back up, or at least audition for “ that” tour”. As fate would have it, I had a contract back in S. C with my former dance company. I was so upset that I had missed my chance to sing with her. Lord have mercy. Not long after, they perished. I could have been on that plane. My heart is still broken…and I just don’t know how to feel about this whole thing. RIP Melanie and all involved 💔💔🌹
I agree, not to mention that Aaliyah’s plane was dangerously overloaded. The only difference is that there were some people that survived the plane crash on November 24,2001 was another member from Passion Fruit was Debby St. Marteen who had burns but recovered, she tried to make a comeback in 2006 but for personal reasons she decided she wasn’t ready. Debby fully recovered in 2007 and decided to move back to the Netherlands and work as a social worker.
Thank you so much for this!!! Not enough people in America pay her story any mind, except her sister who published a book about her. Melanie was another incarnation of Donna Summer because she caught fire overseas first. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for telling the Melanie Thornton story. What a beautiful compilation of rare photos and videos. Her music and beauty will live on forever. You did a great job on spreading her message.
Another eerie simularity between Aaliyah and Melanie is both airplane crashes in which they died were the result of incompetent pilots that had no business in the cockpit in the first place.
ive been listening to La bouche all my life basically and to find out in 2023 that she passed away via plane crash around the same time as Aaliyah yet I never heard one new report about her up until now is just.... ugh I feel so bad. I love Melanie. lemme go stream her music
Thank you for doing this video, the sad part about Melanie Thorton’s death was that she was planning to spend time with her family shortly after she was done doing the promotional tour. I honestly wish Passion Fruit would have became big in the USA as they were in Germany, RIP to Melanine Thorton, Nathaly Van Het Ende and Maria Serrano Serrano.
She was insanely talented and so gorgeous. It’s tragic that her life ended without her getting to fulfill her dream of being a wife (to a decent man) and mother. Another great video!
The irony between her and Aaliyah. Its so eerie to and almost impossible not to think somehow these circumstances arent connected. So much talent cut short. However there is solace in knowing what both Aaliyah and Melanie ultimately had in common and thats their faith in God
I'm sorry but if you think that in that industry u can make it without doing some of that "👁🔺" stuff u kinda wrong, and so that means whatever god they worshipped DEFO wasn't The Creator... This is not to hate on them tho, I asbolutely LOVE them, but truth has to be told ig
Thank you SO much for covering Melanie and her story! Believe it or not shes one of my favorite singers and eurodance as a whole is one of my favorite genres. I absolutely think she would've gone on to have a successful career in Europe.
Melanie Thornton had a RARE and beautiful voice. I loved Be My Lover and Sweet Dreams at first listen. La Bouche were INCREDIBLE! Melanie's beauty and voice will remain unforgettable FOREVER.♾️ I remember 2001 being a pretty upbeat year until Aaliyah and much of her entourage died coupled with the 9/11 tragedies. Sad the deaths of Melanie and her band were overlooked. I didn't know until almost 2 decades later she was gone. May they all rest peacefully. 😔🙏🏾❤️🕊️
As Polish born in 1980 I bounced to sweet dreams and be my lover in my teenage years at school dances. What happened to Melanie, Passion Fruit girls and the entire year 2001 put an end to my teenage dreams of hope and new beginnings in the new century.
Lol I already know when “I Care 4 You” get to playin’ in the background, it’s finna be some drama to the story 🤣 that damn husband was a stone cold hustla.
she was from South Carolina, she did something most of us couldn’t, move far away to chase their dreams. she had a beautiful voice. I was only 7 back in 2001 i was too young to remember any of this. but learning about this now hits hard. I grew up listening to “be my lover” at stores or in random places growing up…it’s nostalgic. rip Melanie Thornton.
Such a terrible tragedy involving female singers who were young, airplanes ✈️ 😢, and the year 2001. It's all very strange, ironic, and heart breaking 💔. The saddest part is that a husband who Melanie didn't want to be married to taking all her hard earned money, and her family's home.
I'm so speechless and amazed at the same time on the fact that you're doing a documentary on Melanie Thornton because I cannot find much videos or documents🌹 about her back in her prime or lifestyle, thanks a lot sir👍
I was a huge fan of La Bouche in middle school when they hit it big. My dad is a huge fan of Melanie too. He Loved her Christmas song and would play it constantly. It didn’t even have to be Christmas. He had just found out she passed away a few years ago when he had called me crying. I told him I thought he knew but said she had died in a plane crash in 2001. He was devastated. He could barely speak
Crazy how in the music video, her husband’s character is taking advantage of her and trying to get his name out there. Talk about art imitating real life.
I used to live in Germany during that exact time period and remember the news of the plane crash. Rest their souls 🙏🏾 That Coca Cola commercial was huge in Germany for real. Very sad. My condolences to all the families who lost their loved ones 🙏🏾✨🙏🏾 I can't believe the ex got everything, what an injustice to her family on top of losing her.
Never knew anything about her growing up but found out she passed away a couple months ago and found out who she was needles to say it's weird how half these musicians and celebrities dying in planes
wow I am so sad with what happened with her estate, RIP Melanie - she seemed to be a kind and family oriented lady with a great talent, all the best to her family. I also hope Debbie is doing better now, what a traumatic experience for her.
Excellent video as always! I wore my LaBouche tapes(showing my age) OUT! Be My Lover and Sweet Dreams are two of my all time favorites! Tonight is the Night is a banger, too. I remember when my brother told me about her death. I was devastated. Melanie had a tremendous talent. Her vocals are amazing! I wish her family had sued the airline. That “pilot” should not have been anywhere near an airplane! Could you cover the death of Maxee from Brownstone? That one has always bothered me.
I was like never heard of her .... and then you said "la bouche "and " rythme is a dancer " and i through myself on the floor ..... waowwww your work is priceless on full of détail... love ya bro !!!! Thks for all
@@mrznickib4826 im sure OP is speaking about celebrity deaths in general and not just ones who died during crashes. They all have had suspicious undertones to them
RIP Melanie Thornton (1967-2001) A victim onboard Crossair Flight 3597 which crashed in Bassersdorf, near Zürich Airport, Switzerland due to controlled flight into terrain due to navigational and pilot error
@@subhaan7861I doubt if theres any connection in their deaths, just coincidental as they were unaffiliated with the same people and were on totally different sides of the world.
I only heard of them all because I watch a lot of airplane disasters documentaries on RU-vid. Thanks for sharing their stories. I remember la Bouche though. I liked their songs that played over here stateside.
No, because that part really pissed me off! I was already familiar with Melanie’s story but didn’t know she was married. She and her family worked together for what she earned throughout the years. And some lousy POS gets to take everything because he signed a piece of paper 🙄 Ruined my entire evening hearing that.
I sometimes wish that Crossair Flight 3597 had an earlier time scheduled for it, and being flown by a different pilot. I feel like captain Hans Lutz was ignorant, which caused the demise of Melanie Thornton, alongside others. Rest In Peace to all the departed🙏🙏🙏🙏☝☝☝🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
I remember when aaliyah died they showed the passengers that survived at the moment and they were still alive moving but they were messed up badly it was on tv the day it happened i remember this vividly they must have scrapped it off the internet because i never seen it again i kno i cant be the only one who remembers this it was very Erie now that i look bac on it
Interesting! I remember hearing only her security guard survived and recalled the moments before when they all held hands and she preyed. That plane crash has always seemed weird to me. A problematic pilot and an overloaded plane for Aaliyah? I wonder why Beyonce and other singers haven't had the same treatment.
@@aiku111 watch his other video Aaliyah’s 8 passengers. He provided a scenario at the end that seemed very probable. And he has provided a lot of details that led up to the crash.
Respect again my brotha amazing. Love the deep dive into this never heard of her or knew this story amazing research and footage please keep at this quality and greater
First time hearing about her story. I play be my lover all the time and never knew her story. Very sad one. Great narration and information. First time watching your vid. I will be checking you out again. Thank you!
I have Melanie's solo album on CD and La Bouche's Greatest hits on vinyl. I must admit I didn't like blonde hair on her, but her voice is out of this world. I love Love how you love me, Heartbeat and especially I wish it was love. We just lost Aaliyah and then her. 😢❤ You won't forget me ❤
Great story. Unfortunate circumstances. I don't remember her. First I thought it was the girl from the Pussycat Dolls, then I realized their first names are slightly different. But RIP Melanie 🙏🏿
Thank you so much for this! I only knew bits and pieces and I truly appreciate this deep dive. I never knew of Passionfruit either. This was so sad, but your nice read about the comments for the 27 club…I’m here for it 😂😂. Keep it up ❤
Thanks so much for this video brother, I was intrigued by these beautiful ladies, but like you said the documentary is in German, and I don't understand it, I didn't know much about the beautiful Melanie Thornton, but you broke her tragic story down, R.I.P to all who died on that crash!😰🙏🏽🙏🏽
Stories I would love to hear about: Etta James. Frankie Lymon, James Brown, The Temptations(all that passed away), Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Otis Redding, Don Cornelius and Jimmy Hendrix.
I hate that all of her hard earned rewards went to that man, especially after all that Melanie's family sacrificed. That aside, I enjoyed learning about the wonderful life she lived. She did a lot in her short life.
Idk where he is now but I'd love to send him something in the mail for all fans of her and be like "We know what you did to her." Just to scare him. He was truly awful. Hoping Ms. Melanie is resting well. ❤
Another great one where you paid respects to all those departed souls. I remember the duo Le Bouche from the 1990s but was not into their music. I believe they were heavily plaid on VH-1. That Melanie was 1 beautiful woman & God really blessed her with several gifts...vocal ability being just 2 it seems. I wonder knowing how evil the music industry is IF it' s possible that somehow ' ole C.Devil Davis has his hand in on the demise of Melanie. Since she was enjoying a successful career IF she was somehow a threat (overseas in Europe at least) to the success of his cash cow Whitney Houston. Nothing against Whitney. I am talking about her slick & sheisty manager C.Davis. With his type it's ALWAYS the $ 1st via manipulation of points, owed royalities, controlling the radio & media so it's HIS. artist who gets heard in airtime plays THE MOST! The connection to Aaliyah is erie. Good catch. That plane's # got me wondering just what words (in gematria) those #s are connected to. Her last interview was indeed prophetic. Were any of the victims families able to (successfully) sue that airlines? Also, the year 2001 MUST have been associated (PREPLANNED) to be a year of SEVERAL airline crashes as ALL THOSE seem NOT to be a coincidence. Wow! Speaking of Aaliyah, are you STILL thinking.of starting a Paetron channel so we can see pt2 of "Aaliyah's 8 passengers"?
In 1999, La Bouche lead singer Melanie Thornton recorded a solo LP and released it exclusively in Germany, late in '99 and then in Most of Europe in the Late Winter of 2000, it flatlined, but managed to go Gold in the US when it was finally released there in the Spring of 2001, it got a re-release in Europe and Germany on November 12,2001 where it charted better, but tragedy struck just 12 days later when Thornton died in a Plane Crash outside of Zurich,Switzerland. The Crash was the result of a Failed Emergency landing similar to the 1989 Flight 232 tragedy. Thornton was just 34 years old and died 3 months to the day of Aaliyah Haughton's infamous August 25th Crash in the Bahamas. R.I.P. Melanie Thornton 1967-2001 and Aaliyah Dana Haughton 1979-2001.
Excellent documentary as usual. Also, excellent observation of the commonalities between Melanie and Aaliyah. None of these similarities are coincidences the way that the industry operates with energy swapping, numbers and ritual sacrifices, as you know. As for looks though, I kinda think Mary J Blige looks more like Melanie. I think she may have even copied her swag regarding her blonde hair and that hat that Melanie and Mary wear to kind of bridge that gap between sophistication and "urban street" style. Just my 2 cents! Keep em coming and hopefully the "copyright lord" will ease up off of you and allow you to be great! I would have loved to hear some samples of Melanie and her group's work here.
She wanted to change her style and image completely after she left La Bouche, so she did a big chop in 1999 as u can see from her wedding picture at 15:57, then she got the blonde hair, she looked amazing! Idk if she was emulating Mary J. tho lol, a lot of ppl pointed out how much she looked like Donna Summer in that last interview.
WOW! just WOW! this is some news to me. The Band Danger Zone I've heard them in concert so many times BUT had no idea Ms.Thornton was at one time a member of the band. Harold Thomas is the leader of the band in Macon Ga and they are still active on the music scene today..continue to rest in peace Melanie Thornton.👍🏼💯😎
