I struggle with life admin tasks... I can't even begin to imagine what it would have been like in a new country and knowing very little of the ways! What a brilliant woman Olga is
I love that Olga has put in the time and effort to operate in this world and rather than letting the achievement feed her ego she is still connected to those experiences of confusion and wants to help prevent others from experiencing that too.
I love this idea Olga! It makes a lot of sense and would benefit so many people. Sadly it's hard not to feel like the world doesn't want to help and benefit as many people as possible, so I don't see this ever happening
It should be universally understood and we as citizens should feel like we have the power and trust in a system that is meant to support us to do the best we can.
Very moving, Olga. What a reason to go to law school! Simplicity does indeed make it better for all parties. I can confirm that the Doha airport is awesome, lived in Qatar.
I love that there is, ever so slowly, movements being made towards more philanthropic endeavours. The fact that people want to have a positive impact on their communities is really lovely. It might be a slow process but it is happening!
Oh gosh what survivors and incredible tenacity despite not knowing it at the time! What a raw story Olga speaks of and the lessons she has taken on and risen from!
I can't imagine how difficult of a transition that would have been Olga but you seem to have gotten through it amazingly! Your family must be so proud.
I remember wanting to learn sign language because I thought that was our "universal" language, and feeling very clever/pleased with myself as I went off to learn. Then I discovered even SIGN language is different from country to country - not only that but here in AUS it differs from STATE TO STATE!! So yes, Olga I'm all for implementing something we can all understand, not just for law but for literally everything. Bring it on.
Olga I can definitely relate to being able to understand every word and still not knowing what it all means!! Such a disheartening part of learning a new language and something all those language learning apps get wrong.
I've always felt that the jargon of any particular industry is purposefully designed to make those who don't know it feel left out or like they aren't good enough
Ooft how much can you relate to the part about understanding every word but not what those words mean as a whole? One of my biggest challenges when I tried to learn a new language.
We all understand images regardless of our native language, age, gender or if we're hearing impaired. Could we communicate in pictures without a smart phone or tablet? Not yet but sometime soon.
