Interestingly, gravitational waves were discovered within a year of this lecture (or at least the day it was posted). It’s funny that when the teacher predicted “before 2020, and 2016 the earliest”, one of the students objected that this prediction seemed too optimistic considering that people often predict short. Turns out the teacher wasn’t optimistic enough!

How can a gravity wave progrogate through vacuum? I see how symmetric electric and magnetic fields can but since we have not found a symmetric field to gravity can a gravity wave propagate?
