My biggest advice to you is to avoid individual stocks. Invest in mutual funds. For example etf or index funds. I have an index fund that tracks the S and P 500. Highly suggest doing that. I am 20 years old btw. Just sharing some advice a couple millionaires shared with me. Index funds are low risk high reward investment. But they are long term investments and that is what you want. Make sure you look at the fees for all of your investments even if you don't take my advice and invest in a fun. Oh and continue self educating!! If possible find a mentor in your area that is willing to invest their time into you. The mentors will help open your mind to new possibilities in life.

Started early , on the day I turned 18. Made 300% return from investment in GME that could have been 1500% if I wasnt young, dumb and greedy. Afterwards , I fell in love with business and understood that coming up with clever ways of coming up with money was something that I was always interested in. Currently I am 19 , studying BBA abroad and learning investing on the side. I love it!
@Monifans
@Monifans 2 года назад
if you invested in GME, don't worry you were dumb when you got the 300% return! remember, if you got a 300% return it could also have gone down 100%, thats the nature of volatility. when you get a x% return, just realize it can happen the opposite way too. don't listen to WSB. they call themselves r tards for a reason. listen to this guy, warren buffet, and Charlie Munger. i also started on GME, made a little money, and got my ass kicked when i imagined buying a new car with the theoretical 10K profit i'd make. just trying to save you some heartache and time.

Key Ideas: Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett’s umbrella holding company, has endured because its stakeholders revere its values and culture. Shareholders keep their shares for decades though it hasn’t paid dividends since 1967. Berkshire buys for the long term; it chooses well-run firms in core industries, keeps management in place and stays out of running the business. Firms it acquires have low debt, exceptional management and strict cost control. Subsidiaries tend to operate in “rudimentary,” basic businesses - boring beats exciting. Berkshire’s shared values include thriftiness, hard work, honesty, entrepreneurship and the discipline to stick to a core business. Berkshire’s headquarters employs only about a dozen people to oversee a $300 billion company with more than 300,000 employees. Warren Buffett controls “capital allocations” and closely guards Berkshire’s reputation. Buffett deals directly and ruthlessly with breaches of Berkshire Hathaway’s values. No one can replace Warren Buffett, but his development and crafting of Berkshire’s culture will enable it to thrive after his tenure.

ARRAB ALI MAZ $110,000 income. I max out my Roth IRA annually at Vanguard in mutual funds with a growth tilt. I also invest 14% of my income into Roth and Traditional 401Ks and my company pension. These funds are mostly in S&P and international indexes. Then I also contribute $1K to 3K in my company’s Stock Purchase plan (I work for a bank). Lastly I invest another $5K per year in high yield cash savings accounts like Marcus by Goldman Sachs. This money is for investing when the market dips and acts as a secondary emergency fund.

There for my risk is VERY LOW, and my portefolio is spread among 27 different categorys, 10 countrys (Here mostly USA, european companies and LARGE danish companies). I have now set my eye on trying to invest in single companies, because there is a MUCH higher chance of getting a big check, but dont wanna gamble all my hard earned money away.

You talk about inflation, which is whats going on in ordinary times. What we will see now is an extraordinary time in which there will be a period of deflation: people dont buy much, companies drop prices, revenue drops, companies fail. 70% of the economy are consumer goods, of which a large amount are luxury items that we could live without.. My question: what are the measures of these gentlemen in deflationary times?

I don't know enough to say whether there will or won't be deflation in the coming years, but I think that I can guess how Buffett & Munger would approach investing in a deflationary environment. Everything that they usually preach will hold true in those environments too - stick to your circle of competence, insist on a margin of safety, look for intrinsic values, the market is there to serve you, buy incredible businesses at fair prices etc.

I have a question about the Great Management filter for companies. What makes a management great? How does one measure that? Filters are supposed to help you reduce time looking only at promising companies but how does evaluating the management team help with that? I can only imagine that the majority of uprising investors probably even don't know 99% of executives in such teams and then need to spend a substantial amount of time doing that research after all 🤔

Constantin Gavrilete it isn’t something you can just type in a stock screener, you have to look at the conference calls for the company for the last 10 years and see what they were saying and how management acted and whether they kept their promises years later.

Romil Patel but that's exactly what I mean. I'll take a significant amount of time to do that

Constantin Gavrilete that is a good question! I would say by sitting with them and experience by your own, see the company culture and focus! make sure to check my videos I vlog about Stocks daily!

Late response here. One hint you can take that tells you that a company has a great management it's it's ability to reinvest profits. You can analyse this by watching it's EPS, ROE and ROIC. If a company has grown these parameters over the year in a steady way MAYBE they have a good management that's doing a good work reinvesting it's profits

If you think about the share of mind principle, spotify would be one of the stocks that gets my interest. To me and many others is the number 1 music streaming service. Nice timing to load this stock :)

Erik, gold is NOT an investment! It is an insurance. it will cost money (i.e. purchasing power) and you hope that you will not need it, even if you buy. It pays out (i.e. maintains) purchasing power if government money is seriously mismanaged. Unfortunately this is more likely than not actually for the vast majority of governments and their money!

Gold grows historically at about 5%. It does not return at the level of securities but it does not cost.
