The fact that 1 man can fix one of the endgames largest issues and a 300 person dev team hasn’t been able to figure it out for 10 years is exactly why the game is on life support.
It's not that they can't. They have 0 incentive to do so. De only takes credits from the game during the trade. After the initial plat purchase why would we care anymore. They made their money and make the prem currency tradeable only so it's not " pay to win"
I can't deny there's a correlation between my career path and my sense of awe when I realize how I can capitalize on making in-game currency from auction house in a game call World of Warcraft 18+yrs ago.
I was considering writing a program to do exactly this a couple months ago but ultimately decided that I'd rather spend my time running missions instead of trading. Seeing the results of someone who actually committed the idea is very interesting, and this video has really helped me appreciate how trading itself can be its own engaging game. Thank you for giving me a new perspective on a part of Warframe I've only ever engaged with on a surface level.
good job bro, at one point in time I also had similar thought and after some time I reached highest mastery rank right now LR3, and I don't want to farm anything specifically so if I farm something passively then I will sell it otherwise not gonna bother.
Similar story here. I used to make a lot of plat back in the days trading, e.g. buying certain things before they got vaulted and so on. But tbh. the time you spend there is just not worth it that much. I actually later made insane amounts of plats (or more than I could imagine ever needing at least) just selling corrupted and nightmare mods I got as duplicate while farming certain mods for myself. I enjoyed farming stuff, felt much better when I actually dropped it than if I had just bought it from the market and was able to make loads of plats in the meantime. Especially with a very good group of players farming stuff was a blast and super fast. I feel like if I traded in warframe I would much rather work the same time and probably buy the same amount of plat and still have made actual real money on top of that while possibly doing something useful for society if I e.g. make it through tutoring.
This is an insane video 😭 I’m playing Warframe first time again in like 10 years and I come back to see a video of a dude applying real life stock methodology to a video game and making actual profit, ur crazy dude keep up the good work! Great video editing also, super high quality work here 👍
I find it interesting how Warframe is pretty anti-capitalistic in its messaging but has what is essentially a smaller scale simulation of capitalism with trading.
Something similar to the daily trades point is also relevant for people who don't enjoy actively trading. Farm a ton and occasionally look for big ticket purchases that can be safely flipped, then occasionally sell anything big. If you're not in the buying and selling business as much, you can even save time by just selling somewhat low. That difference (the spread) is much less relevant if you're not trying to turn profits, the relative and absolute gain in plat you'd get for bothering is lower. Another tip for selling quickly and easily is to simply farm everything, and make it clear in your message that you'll have what people need, they'll save their own effort spent looking for someone offering their specific needs.
This is more my style. I actually enjoy being the person that elevates noobs. I also just really enjoy seeing how fast I can do missions. Cuz of this when I'm avidly playing I literally can't sell my stock fast enough. I'm also one of those that is completely fine only making ~200 plat most days.
RU-vid algorithm brought me here and boy did I ever love this video. More of this kind of stuff please! As a professional game economy designer I think your approach here is really smart, and as a non-warframe player I was still able to follow along and understand exactly what you're talking about An extra consideration to add to your list as to why this won't likely constitute a ban is the built in restrictions on trading each day that is already built into the game. This limit helps prevent a massive race to the bottom and should afford the team ample time to react to imbalances in the economy.
Thank you so much! That's really my goal with most things I program, they only really stay interesting for me if I can apply them to something tangible.
This is pretty cool Assuming I interpreted the video correctly this program automates (to a degree) the manual scramble of me seeing someone put a WTB in chat and me checking warframe market for the price to see if buying it from WFM and selling it to the trade chat bid is profitable but the program is checking WFM for both WTB and WTS and it’s doing it at a faster rate than me skimming trade chat and typing into WFM This is really cool. You mentioned that you liked the process of making the video and programming more than hoarding the program to yourself, might I ask if you’d be interested in making more programs either for warframe or elsewhere and perhaps talk more about the actual process of programming maybe in the same or separate videos. I’m a uni student and I find it really interesting to see how people make programs, particularly those in actually interested in like this one.
Yep I think you did interpret that correctly :) I'm a little burnt from making this one currently but I'm open to hearing your idea if you shoot me a dm on discord.
This is actually interesting and that you did answer two questions I immediately thought of. You did say I might not need a huge capital of plat to start off this trading journey, but I am a bit of a conservative trader and I only trade when I have to for stuff I want to buy and I need for building frames, and I am a bit hesitant lol.
Hey! Hope you enjoyed the video, feel free to comment anything you may want to say :), links are in this comment. Dude I haven’t played WF in years (ever since I spent a millennia making the perfect mirage eidelon build only for them to nerf Castanas/electric not proc’ing light and I rage quit period). I was heavy into riven trading (was my endgame) and this video nearly makes me wanna play again. Well done!
This was really interesting to watch. I just started to get back into the game after not playing for 4 ish years, and it's crazy to see what the community has done
As a newbie to trading, this kinda stuff is actual magic. Also, any game with trading for premium currency will eventually have something like this, markets and stuff tend to pull investor/day trader types.
This is super fascinating to me. I am also very into the WF market as well as a software dev so this definitely hits all the marks for me. +1 sub and I'll be checking out this program as well! Well done!
Oh man I'm so happy I came across this. Thank you for the interesting video along with the great explanation! I've thought about doing high frequency trading in real life before and I've done tons of in-game market trading and your video is the only that makes it stick in my head! It totally makes sense now. Thank you!!
Tbh the real bottleneck with trades will be credits eventually. I traded for years & ended up spending all my time either in the dojo or farming credits. Hence why relative profit is kinda relevant. I love that you provide such a program for everyone :) I also created a riven oriented program & website back then for people to use!
That's a really, really good video. Also a reminder that I need to farm some more to catch up with the game. Had a 1.5 year break because I'm waiting for Cross-Save, since I started on Xone, which has now become a powerpoint presentation.
Its not brilliant, lol. Its incredibly sad and pathetic. Dude's life must be so fucking empty to take a looter shooter and do this kind of shit for the game. Another example of why the no-life traders for this game are the worst part of the community, somehow beating out the uber-meta circlejerkers. If you want to spend this much time of your life making a game into a fucking job, go play EVE Online, you'll fit right in with the other "play to work" brainlets.
Thank you for this video! Very intersting and informative, and I love grinding trading in all games that have it. I will make sure to share it with everyone!
I'm probably one of the few people this video is going to be recommended to but this tool seems great. I'm going to give it a shot later today and see whats up. I also recall seing your name on wfm when I was trying to do this by hand.
i love when different stuff i like get merged to make something cool, this is such a cool way of merging economics, CS an the clusterfuck which is the warframe trading market
I knew nothing about any of this. Meaning, how the market worked and such. But, I was happy that I picked Arcane Grace in the example. Not necessarily for every point made though. My thinking was it's bid and ask are so close that it would be constantly being traded. Anyhoo, as I finish patting myself on the back, I have to admit that I didn't realize how intricate this all is! I've been gaming since the Atari days. And Warframe is the only game that has so much going on with little explanation. That if people didn't make RU-vid videos on so many things I would just be lost and guessing what to do with what. I'm STILL doing that in some aspects. Yet, I see the value in this game. It's been years since its debut. Yet, on a daily basis 40k people are playing it! That's just genius in game making and development. Anyhoo again, thanks for making this video. I rarely like paywall games. And try my best not to spend any money on them. But like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (and soon 2024), I have to admit, I'm happy to pay a little here and there. Great video and information! Thank you!
I randomly stumbled on this video (thanks RU-vid algorithm) and I loved it. I'm not really that interested in markets and trading, but this was really interesting and how you speak and the video editing made it really enjoyable. Congrats on making such a well thought program!
This is so fucking cool to see. Warframe has such a unique trading experience and I'm glad someone is pushing it even further. I'd probably get sick of running Profit Taker though.
I don't play this game, god knows how I got here, but I commend you on this program. You are truly the inspiration I needed to keep pushing my own skills!
this is awesome. I've been doing this by hand, and tbh never had the time to write a program for this even tho I know how to and have thought about it lol... kudos sir! :)
ive never been a fan of economics, programming, or business in my life but this video is inspiring me. i dont think i’ll would be able to automate trading on my account (playstation and j have no plat) so i will continue the old unreliable day trading method and watch in wonder at the power of efficiency instead :) good luck with future things!
I never, in all my days as a Warframe veteran, expected to see such an informative video about trading. Like, this is some real shit... wow. And releasing the app to the public? You clearly don't spend enough time "no-life'ing" this game... Great work!😯
It's psychotic is what it is, this man and his app (if it gets traction) will result in a ban for him and another nerf to trading. DE does not like market exploitation and will eradicate it by any means necessary, releasing this video is a death sentence for this man and possibly many others. DE doesn't mess around, if this fucks with their graphs they will fuck us.
Great video. When i saw this, i couldn't believe such a small channel had made it. You have so much potential, and i can't see what you decide to do next. hopefully, the number of people that start using this doesn't start to make it ineffective.
Thanks so much! It has a decent few users now and still seems to be largely effective. Slightly less so than when I was using it but overall still lots of profits to be made through it.
Really inspiring to see this being done. Always had an idea of it in my head but don't have the technical know how nor the business acumen for it, so it's really amazing to see someone manifest this! Great work and mad respect!
Warframe easily has the best trading mechanics of any video game out there imo, incredible game, so deep and diverse, there’s just so much you can do in this game.
It definitely could use a market where people could list items they want to sell for x amount rather than forcing everyone to do individual trades in person, but it is a good system.
@@WelcomeToDERPLAND i agree this could work but the way its done now is also really good; if there was a market like that i think trading would become *too* convenient if you know what i mean? like the part where you have to go trade individually is precisely what keeps the system in check. any more convenience and new traders would struggle to make profits early on at all
@@cryo7847 Eh, I guess, but since you can always just grind arcanes or relics getting plat to start isn't too difficult. I also play a game with an auction house market like I described, and its quite easy to make profits buying low and selling high, its just far more convenient.
This is why i never trade... I only sell... too much stuff to do and standing in dojo just waiting and checking the page for item drops price or something... its tedious... I only Sell stuff i find and its enough for me ... This program can help but for me the only help i need is a way to put my warframe selling in marroo bazzar and go to bed... that way i come back and check my "personal Shop" and its full... full of items or full of plat who knows...
Really interesting watch, and I applaud your efforts. I am interested to see what's going to happen to the market with cross save and trades coming as well
Thanks so much! Would definitely encourage making applied programs like this even if it might seem like the knowledge required is too much to do so. It ends up being good for learning no matter how far you take it.
What would be really interesting is if your orbiter had a section for putting in your excess that you want to trade off, or accept requests for what you want. Then, the game matches things up and does the trades for you. When you go check it later, it'll show you what's been completed and you can snag them. Make things a LOT simpler and a LOT faster.
This is what the internet was made for. One of the worst things ever is sitting and waiting for multiple AFK traders to finally appear to sell an item you want.
This is amazing work, love the use of OCR to get notifications. I don't have a source, but I only recently started using wfinfo and had similar concerns about getting banned for screenshot recognition/overlay. I remember looking into it and reading somewhere on an official Warframe forum that the devs were fine with the use of wfinfo. So you should be golden here 👍
the trading process itself isn't automated for it to be automated you'd also need OCR to read whispers and their contents, something that will automatically control the mouse and keyboard inputs to open the whisper to read the contents, invite the person, initiate the trade (with OCR probably needed to determine when the person has loaded in), pick the correct item (accounting for a hypothetical duplicate, where you're selling, let's say, a primed mod, but also have your own copy of that mod, and need to pick the right one and deal with the warning pop-up if you pick your copy), check that the person is offering the right amount of plat (vice versa if you're the one buying), ready up, wait for the other person to ready up, and finally accept then you also need to automate the process of updating the app's info on your inventory
idk why i didnt clarify originally, but... automating the _trade itself_ (replying to offers -> inviting -> trading) is strictly against the EULA. the automation that Yelbuzz _actually did_ is 100% allowed. also, iirc i did check the EULA before commenting to make sure i wasnt spreading misinformation. i apologize to anyone who misunderstood what i meant.
Awesome video. I love warframe and have recently got into Computer Science. Inspires me in both! Learning programming has been pretty tough but its so cool I love it.
No ill-will to you, really like this vid and you aren't really the issue, its more deeply rooted, but this is exactly why I left warframe trading and later the game entirely about 4 -5 years ago. The market was no longer a bazaar like tug-of-war fight to sell to customers among the competition of other buyers, rather than the market being completely out of back and forth selling communications and completely lacking personality. Was really interesting when I actually came to have regular customers and many sellers I could trust. Now it's just a big stock market that needs to be gamed rather than played
Yeah, I definitely understand what you mean. I can also acknowledge that I'm contributing to the acceleration of that scenario. However, I kind of feel like it's where most open player to player markets in games end up, and it's more of an "if not me, then who?" type of situation. And as you've said, Warframe is like a decade old now so it's definitely been a while since there's been much personability in the market. Thanks for watching :)
@@yelbuzz That's a good way to frame it yeah. And it isn't inherently bad that there isn't much personality in trading anymore. After all people are there for something, not someone. Most players don't care and likely vastly prefer how trading is now, its just where i found community and enjoyment previously.
Fantastic video mate, super informative and easy to follow. I've been doing this manually in game on Xbox for a while now and my friends always ask me how I have 1000+ plat consistently despite spending frequently. Once you grasp the base concepts of trading and economics, there is a LOT of plat to made, with very minimal effort being needed. Keep up the good work!
I’m not that Econ brained, but I do wonder what the ramifications on the games market would be if this became widespread. Seems like one of those things that would only work well if I was a well kept secret.
As he says in the end: it decreases spread and increases liquidity, making the market more usable for the consumers while it becomes less profitable for the traders.
I have developed this kind of tool on almost all the games I've played that had auction house or something similar, when the tools are mostly kept private the users become extremely rich and dominate the market, when the tools are available to everyone it simply averages and it's much more difficult to profit. Specifically for Warframe I made two tools, one similar to the one on this video for daily use to keep up with the expenses and the other one to profit on a very specific moment on the game history on which I became absurdly rich by flipping with more than 5k potential profit each day.
As a person who doesn't like making deals just because of the social aspect - I won't be using this. However, you did great work and deserve recognition. Here's a comment for the YT algorithm.
so you're saying someone with this program was the one buying up all the fulmin prime sets out from under my nose the other day when I was trying to get hands on one.
Honestly this is legit and I’m happy to see something like this as players find solutions outside of game for in game goals. But more so as someone who wanted to learn coding it’s really fascinating just hearing about the steps and thought process you used to work up solutions.
While I don't participate in trading that often i found this video very informative and interesting it was a nice look into trading in warframe, just wanted to leave a comment saying good job
Damn, this shit was like a economy master class, i appreciate the details in ur videos and all the statistics In a little way, warframe can prepare you to make some bussines and make some money in real life bc this can be applied in some case when u try to sell or buy something
Interesting video, all I do to make Platinum is Buying Relics in bulk, open the bad relics, and Rad the relics with uncommon/rare Warframe parts. I always have a set ready to sell to make my plat I spent on relics.
This game put a lot of effort making us hate the Corpus and their greed (MORE LIKE DESIRE) mindset, but in the end every warframe trader follows the steps of Parvos Granum
Be careful of parvos granum! Jokes aside, if you ever make a follow up video on this, i would recommend raising a ticket with DE regarding the legality of taking real time scan. They will either confirm its ok as long as you are not letting a software play their game or tell you their corporate response that do it at your own risk. In either case, them not telling you that this is illegal directly will be huge plus.
