There is an unsolved murder hidden in Edgar Allan Poe’s Murders in the Rue Morgue, the first modern detective story, and Poe shows us how to solve it. His detective Dupin, a model for Sherlock Holmes, uses feelings and words to solve cases with imagination. If we follow his example, we can solve a case Poe left us long ago, hiding in plain sight.

Thanks! I am going to update my website soon with a complete explanation of the hidden crimes in all three of his detective stories. I do believe that Dupin himself is the Queen's lover in the third story, the Purloined Letter, which is the third and final hidden crime and criminal, the brilliant and loving detective himself.

I have read this story three times but never thought of that possibility. Great work.

This is very cool. I knew the sailor was acting weird or strange.

Thanks! It does seem he is concealing something, which leads us to suspect him, then think he is innocent, but that is a good ruse to run on everyone for Poe.

I always thought that the surname of Poe's detective was pronounced doo-*PAN* . Eric Gerlach, you pronounce the surname doo-*PIN* in this video. But on your website "Logic - Poe & Dupin," you declare "Dupin, pronounced 'Doo-puh', like duper without an n or r on the end in a French or Southern accent, is Poe’s ingenious detective, a name Poe found in a book he reviewed the same month his first detective story was published." According to this video, the French pronunciation of the name is doo-*PAY* : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n-KGzHdBevc.html According to this video, it is pronounced *dew-PAH* : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HO0YAOyYaAk.html . . . and here is the pronunciation of the surname Lupin (as in Arsene): loo-*PAH* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rXFdSHTzoh.html
