Definitely weird, but undeniably talented. He sells it so well. The passion, excellent voice, the message. Very reminiscent of SOAD in terms of subject matter, but shamelessly unique in terms of musical style and instrumentation. In other words: fucking metal. 🤘😬🤘
"Anti-depressants, controlling tools of your system" Damn, that really makes me question how our whole social structure, based on how others see our "social mask", is gradually breaking our mental health. Now, we are getting increasingly dependant to anti-depressants, and the worst restriction to freedom is having our consciousness and feelings being LITERALLY controled by them.
I loved Serj Tankian when he was System of a Down. But now, he seems even more amazing and truthful about life. If people would get past the music they'd understand the world much better by listening to him.

The United States summed up in a nutshell by this song. (To an extent.) I think a hand full of people of my generation grow up with this "get over it" or "get used to it" mentality throughout. This opinion is only valid on some occasions, but quite often I see it being applied to more topics than just only a few. You don't like a leader or a company's business decision that you may have valid opinion about? Well, your opinions are looked at as an invalid one full of whining and bitching. Its a growing pain to a person not willing to talk about the world's problems and willing to trap themselves into a bubble. This song has me really thinking that we are the unthinking majority and the whole repetitive anti-depressants parts of the song are actually an expression what certain people have fallen into always taking all opinions (but their own) no matter how valid, are viewed as moot under the eyes of people who always choose unthink news stories that should matter to them.
To me this song sounds like someone with split personalities (one rebellious, one depressed, and one crazy) arguing with himself in his head. That's just what it sounds like to me.
Some Canadians/Americans loves Serj and some do'nt. People are differant, I personnally am one of the only one in my school who listens to Serj, probably... It is the best!
This is probably Serj's good solo record. I don't know what happened to his voice beginning with Imperfect Harmonies and afterward. Its like that aggressiveness that was once there is gone.

Lol. This is the most straight forward lyrics of what hes talking abput you shouldnt have to interpret it. If your educated and aware of reality you already know what he says. Maybe one metaphorical lyric in the whole song. Hes mocking the fact people have to take horrible antidepressents to make life nice, because they cant have the strength to get over it. And hes talking about America making lies about other countries having a bombs to justify us invading them and taking over all their oil. And much more than just oil. This may sound weird, but I love songs that punch you in the face, which is SOAD and some of Serj's stuff. Ching Chime and this one hit that. Prison Song as well.
Well, to be fair, while his lyrics are deep and meaningful, it's still hard to draw an interpretation from them. Hell, I had to listen to this song about 20 or so times and ponder it a bit to really figure out what the message was here. Regardless, it's still really good for you to do that, to "challenge" yourself, in a way.
