: Yep. Back in the early part of the 20th century, the US government had national historians (for lack of a better term right now) go and interview survivors of American slavery. They also accepted letters and/or journals (or copies thereof) from them for the national archives, and some went around with recording devices and interviewed the survivors "on record", as it were. I've read some of the letters and excerpts from the journals, and I've heard copies of a handful of the recordings. There are also some films now on video that are available, some perhaps now here on RU-vid. That said, some of what was said about what happened to them, especially the women and girls, was edited when it came time for some publishing. The material was considered too strong for audiences/readers at the time, and indeed it was even for some historians whose whole ways of viewing their homeland changed through the research. -- Monstrous, plainly monstrous. There are slave narratives and they are in the US national archives. You don't get to control the narrative any more. I know that a lot of the descendants of those people are still suffering to this day. I recently saw a documentary of young people and I don't understand that situation because they are surrounded by land. Why aren't they allowed to use the land that they are surrounded by to make money? There's no work a lot are on drugs. But you won't hear about that on the news.

There are many photos of black women posing lovingly with white kids. I know older guys today who were raised down south with a black woman taking care of them and they speak well of the relationship. Black women cooked food for their owners, do you think there was not 100% trust there? Black slaves in America had it much better than other countries. They have a roof, yes it was a shack, they had a garden and chickens. It took a while but it was white people who made the decision to free blacks from slavery, the whites fought and died in a terrible war to free blacks.

I find it incredible that modern day POC choose to support and in many cases convert to an ideology that systematically helped to destroy their lives over thirteen centuries.
