We continue to wander around Syria Aleppo and get to know this city, which has been dramatically destroyed by war and earthquake. Aleppo is a very special city indeed. I cannot go without saying that it occupies a very important place in history. Namely:
Aleppo is Syria's second largest city and a historical center. It is located in the northwest of the country, about 350 kilometers north of Damascus. Aleppo is known as one of the oldest continuously inhabited areas in the Middle East and is a city renowned for its historical significance.
However, as we all know, when the Syrian civil war started in 2011, Aleppo was also exposed to violent clashes. The city became one of the most intense areas of the war and was badly damaged. As a result of the war, the historical center of Aleppo, many historical buildings and monuments were damaged or destroyed.
Aleppo has hosted many civilizations throughout its history. The city was controlled by various empires such as the Hittites, Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Seljuks, Mongols, Mamluks and Ottomans. The influence of these different cultures is reflected in the richness of the city's architectural, artistic and cultural heritage.
And as if all this were not enough, Aleppo was greatly affected by the 6 February earthquake, which was deeply felt in our country and caused great pain to all of us. Although the destruction caused by the earthquake was indistinguishable from the destruction that came with the war. Many people died here.
I continue to show you everything that is not told and not shown in Syria. Enjoy watching.
