I was raised in Saudi Arabia as an expatriate. Lived there for more than 35 years but didn't get equal rights or citizenship. Alhamdullillah, managed to leave Saudia last year.

The family have ruled since 1932 not hundreds of years. They did start ruling parts of Saudi in 1742 by Mohammed bin Saud the founder of the family. Then Abdalaziz bin Saud became ruler after 5 years of getting power in 1932. That could have had been more helpful.
The ottoman were ruling gulf arabia for 400 years the saud family came at 1800 trying to build gov but the ottoman demolish them . But later 1918 after the ottoman withdrew the saudi govt establishment at 1932

Greater Syria was further divided into Jordan, Syria and Iraq. The Hashimites of Mecca were removed from the position as custodian of the holy mosques and were made kings of the above mentioned countries.
respectfully a correction. the al saud family were helped into power by british interests after the ottoman empire collapsed and they are a relatively new dynasty. they have not ruled for hundreds of years.

It really sucks for women to live in that country because they are not given an equal right and opportunity as men did in their country. We are so lucky to be born in the country where we don't need to depend on men. I hope they realized that what they are doing to their women isn't making any good to their country. Give women their freedom because all of us are created equally, and by doing this, the government can change for the better.
women and men are different not that someone lower than the other but there nature are different and it's fine we need to accept that. In Islam men spouse to take care of women but that doesn't mean they don't have freedom or the right to work and make money or to have there own thoughts. I would not mind if Saudi royal family stays on the throne as long as they help their citizens by educating them, giving them employment opportunities and creating a meritocracy system where people can succeed by efforts not by birth.

my parents lived in Kuwait before I was born and they said that Saudi men would push women in the street to be run over by cars if they didn't cover themselves. and my dad had a Saudi colleague who would be able to drink a whole bottle of vodka and walk completely straight. also his Muslim friend would bring booze to the house as gifts and my mom and dad were allowed to make wine (this was in Kuwait over 30 years ago) My mom also met with women who were the multiple wives of prominent men. these particular women were very happy and treated extremely well

As a Saudi woman I would like to say that we are NOT living in hell! Don't believe what you see in the media. Of course we have poor people in the kingdom - like any other country on the planet - but more than 90% of the people are living a good life. We have free health care, free college education, free nursing homes for elderly people and more! What hell are you talking about exactly?!! Just because we have a different life style than the one you have in your country does not mean that it is hell! We like the way we live, a small percent may not like it and that is fine because they can go whatever the hell they want. No country can please 100% of their people. You talk about our politics as if you have lived in Saudi Arabia for years, but the truth is that you have no idea what you are talking about.
