Is it just me or the lady raised in the slums speaks better english than the businessman. Like she has better vocabulary and phrases her sentences cohesively.
Businessmen in indian context means someone who knows their way around the laws and red tape. Ethics and education can take a back seat when it comes to business success in india.

Reporter portray a biased views against secularism. Though there are many instances where hindu as well muslim got into communal conflicts. But there several others places where we didn't listen that type of instances. In my district where both hindu and muslim population live, I didn't get to know about a single case about such communal riot, victims etc since my birth. No discrimination at all..all these communal riots happens when there is a political motive... Don't believe me just look at history of communal conflicts.

Caste system can be got rid by a slow and steady process .... How ? Bodily (physical) changes and Economical Changes will slowly but steadily phase out caste system in India. But is it feasible ? = Not so easy
Looks like the documentary is from 2007. The situation in 2021 has still not changed. The same amount of economic disparity still exists due to caste, religion as I see, if not more. One thing that the presenter did not touch is language and regional disparity.
@@youngz13o An ignorant and superficial way of looking at things!! There is NO OTHER country on earth that has the amount of ethnic, religious, linguistic diversity and yet functioning as an all-inclusive democracy!! @@youngz13o Everything has to be seen in context! Considering the population of India (1.3 billion total with nearly 200+ million Muslims), the number of deaths in riots is micro minuscule!! The fact is, the vast majority of Muslims live peacefully and practice their faith without any hassle whatsoever!! This includes Muslims of all types (Shia, Sunni etc). Fascinating to see this big country grappling with all of the same kinds of problems and themes as many other countries do. I hope the young manage to purge the Caste system out. It's so restrictive and cruel.
Speaking as a North American, this inside look at India and its problems is distressing and reflects global tensions with religious/cultural values and identity as well as economic disparity. The very heart of the issue touches on the mistrust and anger that plagues Humanity in general. Gandhiji helped liberate India but India must find its moral and spiritual center again. My prayers go out to India and her people of whatever caste, creed or circumstance.

Size of economy means nothing...what is more important is ppp & quality of life.....India has a VERY LONG way to go - not to mention how unhygienic, backwards & primitive their medical system & corrupt their government is.
"unhygienic, backwards & primitive their medical system & corrupt their government is." Yet, it was China that has started 2 pandemics in the last 2 decades!! Oh yeah.. one more thing about India's medical system.. India was manufacturing COVID vaccines for itself and also supplying other countries when Canada was running from post to pillar for procuring COVID vaccine!
This level of injustices in the Indian society doesn't guarantee unending peace forever and ever, it's just a time bomb they are making for themselves which is growing bigger and bigger over the generations. Peace is not mere absence of war or conflict, it means much more than that. The greed for vanity has made society reach this far!!!!! Don't you think Federalism can be the answer for this situation?!??!?! It makes me remember of the redemption songs- Robert Nesta Marley.
The first time I went to China, a long time ago, people had a rural or urban identity card. That meant that rural people weren't allowed to move to cities and get better jobs, so there was mass, domestic illegal immigration. Then the Chinese government realised that Chinese farmland was better managed by larger collectives and the people were better occupied in manufacturing. I lived in Zhengzhou, next to the Foxconn factory, and it was pretty awful, so I'm in two minds. I'll let you know.
Well, here’s the thing; the rich gets richer and the poor is plentiful. How can you provide equality for over one billion people. A few million will be left behind. Thankfully, many more millions are overseas! NO FARMERS NO FOOD. POLITICIANS WILL REALIZE THIS WHEN THE POPULATION IS STARVING! Very informative documentary. Well done.
I would say in 2022 there is a lot of progress but still a long way to go before we could call India a real super power. Inequality of opportunities is a real thing which needs to be fixed. I am not sure about hindu nationalism, but i think gov. of India is doing well when it comes to welfarism. But what i can see is s slow but steady resilient progress. I still believe that democracy is the best and most resilient way to progress in long run. I think this game with China is not over yet. In long run, i still believe India will succeed.
It is sad what is happening around the world..everywhere you go it’s the same note about racism and my question is when is it gonna stop? Rather it is about religion or the color of your skin at the end of the day it does no matter as long as we love one another and help each other out but I guess that’s just hope talk!!
That's right but it won't end until everyone sees the same way. They say they feel sorry for the children and I say well then treat their parents with dignity and they'll stop killing themselves.

The renowned agricultarist, M.S. Swaminathan has an astute understanding of the Indian reality and its crazy economic policies followed by the government which is deliberately fine tuned to the interests of Corporates. India will soon be ruined if corrective steps are not initiated to support the farmers who account for more than half the population of India ; and providing food for the entire nation are left in the lurch. George Bush? How old is this documentary? I admire them for speaking English, but wish it was closed captioned, as they are so hard to understand at times.
What i find odd is that when the government finally take some steps to help the farmers and change the laws in their favour, the same type of documentary makers then oppose the law changes.
Vandana Shiva is a spokes person for India organic food. Wild farmland feed animals and people with little to no intervention. Farmers would not be forced to rely on money for crops.

One family lives in a 400,000 SFT home, and it is worth 2 BILLION DOLLARS. It has 27 floors, and 600 staffers to maintain it. It is not the only one, and there are others. They could have built one for one billion, and used the other billion to help the poor. How could you sleep at night? The richest man there is worth 83 BILLION DOLLARS, and he is not the only one. Keep 43 billions for yourself, and build houses with 40 billions. The country needs clinics, schools, and houses.
