To be clear, there are multiple reasons African history gets left out of "historical narratives." It isn't just the old fashioned bias towards Eurasia that lingers from the era of European global empires. The archeology simply is not nearly as well-developed and the political situation in many African nations since indepedence has made it very challenging to bring the archeological record of African civilizations up to par. It is also a serious disadvantage that the vast majority of African cultures south of the Sahara did not have written language and written records until the colonial era. Oral histories only go so far to fill in those gaps. There is a great deal of invisible pre-colonial history which unforunately is very likely to remain hidden. Even in the Malian Empire, where a library of written histories and primary source documents does exist, we don't have the benefit of comparing those sources to outside sources in the way we often do in Eurasia and North Africa (with the exception of the Griots' accounts.) It really isn't as simple as saying "African history is neglected" or "black history is erased." Truth be told, it has been painfully difficult to carry out the historical research that historians would like to do. As a result the colonial and postcolonial period of African history gets vastly over-represented, in fact. But there's lots of research and college teaching in the area of the African diaspora, albeit often excessively biased towards the story of African-Americans at the expense of the rest of the diaspora. As for what gets taught in high school history classes ... well, good luck trying to jam more history into the high school curriculum. Secondary education is not my area but I do know impossible demands are put on the curriculum as it is. Lets hope things improve in our lifetime. in the meantime, thanks for your public educational work.

@GuardianoftheGoldenStool
@GuardianoftheGoldenStool 8 месяцев назад
@@ario2264 It’s NOT a big deal! A large percentage of Sub-Saharan African states ended up getting tied up in the Atlantic slave trade or the Arab slave trade prior colonization, by their own volition and others as a defense mechanism. Initially when Europeans commenced trade with West Africas & West-Central African states they eagerly disposed of their prisoners of war from their rivals selling them in the Atlantic slave trade. This custom wasn’t foreign to any portion of the world during this time period. Upon discovering the prospect of receiving superior firearms from Europeans, in exchange, West African & West-Central African states learned quickly if they wanted to protect themselves from prospective rivals in war that the possession of such weaponry was necessary. For Europeans the most prized trade item in exchange became slaves. From thence forward several West Africans and West-Central African states, not only began to sell their prisoners of war, but initiated slave raids amongst their rivals in order to obtain these superior weaponry. Ultimately, a retaliatory cycle began among states, resulting in the gene pool of African-Americans, Afro-Latinos, & Afro-Caribbeans having the genes of equally the victimizers as well as the victims. The Native Americans in the Eastern portion of the United States endured a similar fate, during the period Europeans sought them out as slaves-Europeans exploiting rivalry amidst them. From knowledge of family oral history confirmed by dna test results, I have Native American ancestry on my paternal grandmother’s lineage. I’m sure it’s a result of an enslaved Native American ancestor who bore children with an enslaved African American one. It wasn’t a matter of Africans selling Africans or Native Americans selling Native Americans, since these words often imply in a modern sense that these people has some type of collective unified ethnic or racial identity. Like peoples on other continents, they regarded each other according to ethnicity.

There were a few that were meant to be made, but they keep cancelling them. You had Warrior Queen about the Kushite queen Kendake Amanirenas and her conflict with Romans. Will Packer and Universal Studios announced this movie back in 2017. Since then, nothing has happened Will Smith was meant to make a film about King Taharqaof the Kushite 25th dynesty called the Last Pharoah. Again, after being announced more than 15 years ago, the project went silent. Also, Showtime Network made an entire season of a Shaka Zulu series announced like two or three years ago. After filming, they announced they wouldn't release it onto their platform and network despite forking up $80 million for production. 50 Cent is meant to be producing a Queen Nzinga series for Starz announced in 2021. Again there has been nothing since. Tbh, waiting for Hollywood is a bad idea. We black people in the diaspora and in Africa need to make these projects ourselves. South Africans took the right steps and released their Shaka Zulu series a few months ago. Its called Shaka Ilembe it looks good.

Actually African Nubian culture was the early progenitor of Pyramid architecture, originally the concept was granary storage as the sacred geometry had the power in its design to prolong the life of food within it. The cultures of "Alkebulan" were not only diverse but highly advanced, it was a trading empire by sea, land. The sheer scale went way beyond what we were always led to believe was greatest, European. The true history needs to be discovered as it dwarfs comparisons.

Africa was a great rich Continent till the Europeans got hold of her. Even today independence that was fought for is not full independence as the ex colonisers won’t let go they fear Africa will become as powerful as it was before they invaded and enslaved millions upon millions killing as many. Today if Africa had full independence it would be richer than all the west put together that’s why they keep hold on Her other Africa is still being run by neo colonialism all abou the greed of the West they don’t want to buy resources they still prefer to steal it, yet if we citizens were to steal anything even a slice of bread you could be imprisoned. Yet the USUK France Germany Belgium Spain Portugal all continue to rob Mother Africa to this day 60/70years after independence. And these westerners have the gall to call African’s when we can see who are the true savages, it’s evil will not continue world goes round and time goes with it nothing stays the same way forever all empires fall,the West is failing and falling they are desperate. Carthage, Egyptian, Swahili and the Zulu are ones I know more about than the others, but I'd love to learn more about all these people. Wondering if some of the stone cities could be recrafted and made into livable areas once again?

There are other videos on RU-vid that go into detail regarding the histories. For things on Ethiopia, you have the channel Tarik History. As well as Afrostorian, From Nothing and Hometeam History. Also, if you search these kingdoms, there are websites that go into detail regarding their indepth histories. I'd give a few examples, but RU-vid will delete my comment.

East of great PoPo begins the Dahomey territory guarded by the important town of Glehweh, known to Europeans by the various names of Fida, Hevedah, Whyda, Wida. The old writers called it Juda, and its inhabitants were said to be Jews, while neighboring river Allala, whose real name is Efra, became the Euphrates. During the flourishing days of the slave trade, from sixteen to eighteen thousand were annually transported from Ajuda, as the Portuguese called this place, which at that time had a population of thirty-five thousand." -Elisée Reclus, The Earth and Its Inhabitants: West Africa (1892) page 267, Princeton Theological Seminary Library

Oh dear , you should of done more research , north africans do not consider themselves as black , that is a racial slur , although on the same continent they consider themselves more mediteranean as they are on the mediteranean coast , back in the time of the pharoahs egyptians had around 8% subsaharan dna from a total of 100yrs of nubian rule and the transaharan slave trade, modern day egyptians have around 20% , so i dont know where you are getting the idea that every person on the african continent is black , dna and genome sequencing shows a very differant story . Over half of european men share the same dna haplogroup as king tutenkhamun , there was a lot of european dna moving around in north africa , europe is only the other side of the med, recent genome sequencing has shown that subsaharans are actually a differant species , they carry 20% ghost dna that cant be identified and nobody else has it not even north africans, as they were cut off by the saharan desert, the rest of us carry neanderthal dna or denisovan dna , so there are at least 2 differant species if human on this planet. Please dont go up to a north african and tell him hes black you might end up with a big dental bill, its a racial slur i was informed of that by my green eyed light brown haired algerian son in law.

Tacitus is one more nail in the coffin. “A few authorities hold that in the reign of Isis the surplus population of Egypt was evacuated to neighboring lands under the leadership of Hierosolymus and Judas. Many assure us that the Jews are descended from those Ethiopians who were driven by fear and hatred to emigrate from their home country when Cepheus was king. There are some who say that a motley collection of landless Assyrians occupied a part of Egypt, and then built cities of their own, inhabiting the lands of the Hebrews and the nearer parts of Syria…” - Tacitus, Histories 5.2-5 Tacitus described Hebrew origins as possibly Egyptian or Ethiopian. This is important because it puts perspective an Old Testament Bible verse: “Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?” - Amos 9:7 Tacitus words present a huge problem for those that teach a European / light / olive Egypt because we know for a fact that Ethiopians are not European. There’s no logical reason anyone would ever confuse a European with an Ethiopian. In addition to the Old Testament clarification, Tacitus also confirms an incident in the New Testament. The importance of the Testimony of Tacitus is that he was a European (Roman) historian, and he is often quoted by Europeans as a credible source of history. Tacitus lived from (55 A.D. - 117 A.D.), which overlaps the lifetime of the apostle Paul, who was believed to have died in 64 A.D. “Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?” - Acts 21:38 Paul, who was believed to have died in 64 A.D. “Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?” - Acts 21:38 have been mistaken for an Egyptian, nor would the guard have assumed he didn’t speak Greek, and the people in the time of Tacitus wouldn’t have mistaken them for Egyptians and Ethiopians. In his book ,The Great Roman-Jewish War: 66-70, the Roman historian, Flavius Josephus, stated over thousands of years ago, that the Israelites migrated into Africa. He writes: “Millions of Jews fled into Africa, among other places, fleeing from Roman persecution and starvation during the siege.” This is just one example of the migration. *Once the Israelites migrated to West Africa, they established communities all through-out Africa.* One of those communities was the Kingdom of Juda. As mentioned in the Bible and in history, there was a Kingdom in Israel, called the Kingdom of Judah. Jew comes from the name Judah. That being said, one of the largest slave ports in West Africa, where many of our ancestors were stolen from was labeled the Kingdom of Juda. Below is a 1747 map of Africa, created by an English cartographer named Edward Bowen(1693 or 1694-1767). This map, shows specifically where the ancestors of many African Americans come from.

Great research and excellent points taken. Tacitus is often quoted and well respected among ancient historians and theologians. I also appreciate your mention of the Apostle Paul, who was thought to be an Egyptian, as stated in Acts 21:38, and would have been considered a Black Man by today’s standards. Lastly , Abraham the father of the Hebrews of the Bible, was called out of Ur of the Chaldees, Genesis 11:31. From archaeological research We know that the Chaldeans were dark skinned people. This same observation was stated by Dr. J. Vernon Magee a southern white man and theologian who stated that the first two great civilizations on the face of the earth were created by the Black Races!

True, but it's not really about Europe domination over Africa, but about history always being written by the victors. The same happened, and still does, within European history. Those who won decided what would be written in the history books. And mainly, it's a matter of class war, the powerful vs the powerless. Anywhere in the world.
