I would love to see a video about the inverse relationship between the increased speeds in the peloton and lack of doping positives. The UCI needs to be accountable for this new wild west they have created. I remember in after the Festina affair in 1998, every time someone nailed a 6.5-7.0 w/kg performance on a major mountain, they often were busted subsequently. It was like clockwork. The performances have become more outrageous since the Lance-Oprah interview, and those getting caught are like dinosaurs. It's leaving new fans with the wrong impression that this sport has cleaned up its act.
@rockhopper01
@rockhopper01 3 месяца назад
To be fair though, cyclists are rarely busted by testing. It’s suspicious doctors getting investigated, team hotels getting raided, grand jury investigations, etc. it seems the testing has always been a step behind. In addition, it’s not the UCI that busts anyone. Most doping controls are instituted by the individual countries themselves. For instance, Lance butting heads with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). and there is just so little interest in a country busting their own riders! Can you imagine Slovenia going after Pogi or Primoz? Or the Russians going after any Russian riders?
@andreasspreitzer7675

are the mountain performances getting better? I don´t think so! The doping greats of the past still hold the best times on the famous mountains. I´m not saying there is no doping, i think there is quite a lot but jeezzz, don´t just throw random stuff out there

Cycling is not Cycling. The quicker everyone realises this and steps away from the sport doping and sponsored teams will fold. Do not buy there products, jerseys, bikes, use social media as a tool to clean up the sport. Its worse than athletics, which Is riddled with doping athletes. Riders are like F1 cars. They have to be meticulously prepared. Every muscle and major organ must be maximised. Maybe they should just allow drugs. Who cares, really. If you're still watching cycling given it's corrupt history, you shouldn't be worried about drugs.

If I remember correctly Preidler was caught in the beginning of 2019, around the Nordic Ski world championship in Austria, together with two or three Austrian cross-country skiers. There are more Austrian skiers caught with dipping than Norwegian. This is BS, we all know the Austrians don't dope nearly as much. For some reason, they are always targeted by FIS. I may be going into conspiracy theories, but Preidler popped might have been the Norwegian lobby in FIS.
@SamHocking
@SamHocking 3 месяца назад
The FIS event was earlier in the Aderlass story. Preidler's name came later and was caught indirectly. Dürr confessed the name of Mark Schmidt and to using his clinic in Germany, which was then raided by Munich police who found evidence of 21 athletes using his services, one of which was Preidler. afaik the only link Dumoulin had to Aderlass, was Preidler was denied attending a Sunweb training camp and so named the riders at the camp as suspicious to Munich Police. Dumoulin's and Roglic's face was used to ask the 20 other athletes if they were aware they used Schmidt's services, but it seems they hadn't as nobody confessed.

I guess it is only a short step to insisting that there is no spoon...or cheating... Although it is not possible to "prove" innocence, I am always amazed/suspicious when "average" (compared to most humans) athletes with real raw talent, can suddenly become unbeatable. Thanks.

HGH isn’t performance enhancing, but athletes thought it was. I wish it was as i have a pituitary condition and my HGH is “naturally” multiples of normal. It results in bulky but not necessarily stronger muscles. AKA extra weight only
@cattycats4
@cattycats4 3 месяца назад
@@lkb3rd very interesting perspective to share!, plenty of high profile athletes over the years with natural growth hormone abundance via pituitary condition, Bigfoot Silva, Hong Man Choi, Andre The Giant etc I always presumed they were stronger for it as Andre in particular made fools of wrestlers who were big lifters and very strong made them look like children. Then theres the other athletes who were normal but decided to invest heavily into synthetic HGH like Bob Sapp and the current strongest armwrestler on the planet Levan Sagnashvili. What is your opinion on them and are you a 7 footer? 🙂
@lkb3rd
@lkb3rd 3 месяца назад
I don’t know about those athletes. I am 5’11” because i deveoloped it in my twenties so my long bones had fused and won’t grow after that. I have a little bit of acromegaly face and my hands and feet grew but it is’t obvious like if i had it as a kid.
@cattycats4
@cattycats4 3 месяца назад
@@lkb3rd thats even more rare really to develop it later in life, there are many different cases of people who produce far more growth hormone than normal, some are giants with no particular disability most famously Wilt Chamberlain who was 7ft 2 and could move as fast as an olympic sprinter, others are quite disabled by the extra size and then theres the bizarre case of Adam Rainer who was 4ft 5 at age 18 but by age 33 he was 7 ft 1 so his bones were somehow able to grow despite having reached maturity. Thankyou again for commenting, its insightful , maybe the performance enhancing effects of synthetic GH is only due to the increased size of someones frame and the athletes who abuse it synthetically might only benefit if they already have a large frame (Bob Sapp was already 6ft 7 and Levan a lanky 6ft 3) So maybe with help from people like you athletes might realize they dont need to take HGH as eating excess of food will put the same weight on. Have a great day
