But it wasn’t released as a single in 2000. It was released as an EP with a few other songs that were later included on G-Sides. Tomorrow Comes Today is their first EP but Clint Eastwood is their first single
@@icansensemymothersdisappoi2954 I really love demon days. You should check out the video Vinyl Rewind did on the album. Demon days is Truly a masterpiece
I have forever loved Gorillaz even though my mum used to say they were evil. But a Gorillaz movie??? I'm so down! Plus I love seeing the transformation of Noodlez the most 🤍
@@Eyecosaeder even so. stupid editing choice to mention it out of context near the end. it wouldve made more sense to have that segment chronologically in the video.
Jamie Hewlett, his work and all of Gorillaz' visual aspects, animation and everything that Damon Albarn is NOT in charge of, is EXTREMELY underrated and underbudgeted. I think Jamie should just start a Patreon so we can see more of his work with the band.
It is so funny that you talk about that like it was history, when for me it is just yesterday, since I was there all along. Thank you for this melancholic feeling and the recap on Gorillaz growth.
I remember in 2001 when I was 18, you couldn’t watch MTV or BET without hearing “Clint Eastwood”. At the time I didn’t like it because I was so caught up in the “bling bling” era. Now at age 38, I really dig Gorillaz’ music but even more than that I love the concept of an animated band.
Just introduced my 8yo niece to Gorillaz three first albums last week. She's already catching on listening to last simple and she loves it. A big thanks to Albarn and Hewlett for the greatest band of the 2000 decade.
I have a love/hate relationship with Gorillaz. I hold them dearly because they were such an influence for me from around the age of 11 and were the reason I loved drawing so much. The videos were incredibly entertaining for me and were something so unique in the days of MTV. Their website (as mentioned in this video) was a work of art for its time. I spent hours upon hours on the chat-o-matic and imagine my surprise when one of my messages was included on the Celebrity Takedown DVD- something I didn't know until years after its release! Their early albums ALWAYS had such bangers in them: Clint Eastwood, Rock Da House, 19/2000, Dare, Feel Good Inc, I could go on, but their later albums became very preachy. Very. I was never particularly interested in the 'lore' of the band. I enjoyed the animations for what they were: music videos- they complimented the music. I've never been into the 'human' side of the band. Personally, I find Albarn to be an utter prick. He's rude to fans and is completely up his own arse with regards to his political views and opinions. I unfollowed him for flat out telling people to "Vote Corbyn" on his Instagram some years back. Humanz album was so fucking preachy that I don't consider any song on there in my top 10 Gorillaz songs. It actually soured my love for the band. As an adult, I don't need to be told by a bunch of multi-millionaires to be a good human and treat everyone the same. As much as I dislike Albarn, it's easy to separate him from Gorillaz because of the nature of the band. As much as I dislike Humanz (and Albarn), the tour was my first concert and it was unforgettable. Hearing the songs I fucking loved since a kid being played live was incredible. If you ever have the chance to see them live, DO IT. It's honestly an experience. The energy is something else. I'm hoping with the new release, they go back to just making good music. Cracker Island seems very promising and I loved it from the first few seconds. Definitely got good vibes like their early stuff from it. Here's hoping they start making fantastic music again. Would I watch a Gorillaz movie? No, I don't think I could sit through 90+ mins of being preached to, but those that do, each to their own. I hope they make a film for your sake, I really do.
Okay I'm stopping at 1.02. They knew each other in 93 Jamie was friends with a different band member. They both hated each other. In the video star shaped you can see a very young Jamie with the band.
for an untold truth video you seemingly left out the part that Humanz, although financially successful as any gorillaz album will be for the end of time, it was met with large backlash and crtisism from both critics and fans alike for unmemorable tracks, and endless features that push Damon Albarn himself to the back
You COMPLETELY skipped Demon Days (arguably their best album, no less). Like... HOW!? HOW did you go from Debut album to Plastic Beach and not notice? Also got their debut single incorrect.
I've been avoiding watching this because I thought it would be a hot take on gorillaz scandals and misdeeds, and I didn't wanna sour the love and admiration I held for them by watching a random video on their potential short comings and less than favorable stories. But I'm glad I gave it a shot because this is a great roundup of their story! Its difficult to find gorillaz backstory and future update (or just gorillaz in general) videos in 2021-2022 so this is perfect when you just wanna lie back, chill, catch up and admire how far they've come.
Isn’t it weird that Russell’s shirt quoted “it’s not rael” referencing the free Palestine slogan against Israel except he wore that 4years prior to the free Palestine movement
Wow... great doc and narrative. I use to read Tank Girl. My only tat is dedicated to her, and at the same time I hated Blur, I still do... but Gorillaz... jeez... Clint Eastwood, what a classic. My kids have inherited my Gorillaz madness and that’s awesome. Never too late.
In 2009, an anime AMV on youtube exposed me to Feel Good Inc., which kickstarted my powerful obsession with the group. They are still my absolute favorite to this day. I can’t wait to see what creative works we’ll hear from them in the future.
As late as I joined the fandom, I loved all of their past work. The only problem I think the group has is the very unstable and toxic fandom that follows. So many Gorillaz fan artists had been nearly black listed from the rest of the fandom and a lot of the hardcore fans are just out right rude and very disrespectful. I love the group, I really do, but its hard to enjoy it with other people when other people are what’s making the fandom not as enjoyable. Please be respectful and treat others nicely, it will save you and a lot of other people from stress
I wonder how many houses Damon Albarn owns? It's these guys that need to change their habits not the working class. Confession through projection. Did you know a trip from LA to New York and back on a private jet burns more fuel then a small cattle farm does in a year.
